Chapter 429: The End - Our Love and Future

“Congratulations to us, you’re pregnant, Mila!” Prince Leonard announced excitedly.

“I’m pregnant?” I asked more out of curiosity than out of surprise. Although I knew that the prince would never joke about something like this, I still found it hard to believe that I was suddenly pregnant.

“That’s right, you’re pregnant, and that means we’re about to have another baby,” Prince Leonard said before breaking into another wide smile.

“I’m...really pregnant?” I whispered as I struggled to wrap my head around the prince’s sudden announcement.

“The doctor said that you might have been feeling tired because you’re in the early stages of pregnancy. I’m sorry that I hadn’t realized this sooner; otherwise, I would have kept all the ceremonies short so that you didn’t have to go through all of that when you’re feeling so tired,” the prince said apologetically as he took my hands into his. I kept staring at the prince as he buried the side of his face against the palm of my hand.

“We’re about to have another baby,” I said as I found myself smiling just at the thought.

Unlike that time with Logan, when I tried desperately to become pregnant, our second miracle happened in a very unplanned and unexpected way. It truly made me feel like our second child was a gift from above.

“That’s right! We’re about to have another baby. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am,” the prince said before pulling me into his embrace. I wrapped my arms around his back as I felt him kissing the top of my head.

“I still find it so hard to believe,” I confessed in a soft whisper.

“You better believe it. I also think that this is the best wedding present ever,” Prince Leonard said, and I could feel the love in his voice.

Even though I was overjoyed, I couldn’t stop the feeling of worry that crept up in my chest when I thought about going through another pregnancy journey. It was definitely very difficult with Logan, and there were times when I truly believed that I had lost our baby. Fortunately, I managed to give birth to Logan safely, and he had already grown up to be a very healthy and energetic boy. That being said, there was no guarantee that the same would happen this time around.

“You don’t have to look so worried. I’ll make sure to take the best care of you no matter what happens,” Prince Leonard said comfortingly.

Prince Leonard truly lived up to the promise that he made to take care of me. As the months progressed, we were both ultimately very surprised by how uneventful my pregnancy journey turned out to be. Unlike that time with Logan, I had very little morning sickness, although I felt sleepy most of the time. Just like when I was pregnant with baby Logan, Prince Leonard requested for an ultrasound to check on the baby.

“Congratulations, your baby is a girl,” the doctor in charge of my case revealed to us with a sweet smile on her lips.

“A girl?” I repeated with wide eyes before turning to smile at the prince. Prince Leonard had the warmest smile on his lips, and his eyes sparkled with joy after learning that our next child would be a girl.

“That’s amazing,” he said as if lost in a trance.

“The baby shows no sign of transforming, and that might be one of the reasons why your pregnancy journey is proceeding so smoothly,” the doctor explained.

“The king is not going to be pleased, but I couldn’t care less,” Prince Leonard said as if he wanted to reassure me.

I had to admit that I was overjoyed by the fact that we were about to have a baby girl. I truly looked forward to seeing Logan taking care of his younger sister. However, I couldn’t ignore the fact that the king, as well as members of the committee, would clearly be disappointed that I did not produce another son who could potentially be another ultimate alpha.

“I guess he won’t be pleased,” I replied to the prince before I found myself smiling quite naturally at the thought.

“It doesn’t matter what they think. It’s good enough that we’re happy,” the prince reminded me as he placed a hand on my shoulder.

I smiled and nodded at him as our eyes met because I couldn’t find the right words to thank him enough for his encouragement.

That evening, when we returned to the palace, we both looked forward to letting Logan know that he was about to become an older brother to a younger sister. I was sure that Logan would be overly thrilled at the idea of becoming a big brother.

“Logan, come over here. Your mother and I have something very important to tell you,” Prince Leonard said as he called over our son.

“What is it?” Logan asked as he cocked his head to the side. At that moment, I truly thought that he resembled his father and couldn’t stop myself from giggling.

“What’s funny?” Logan asked as he shifted his gaze from his father to me.

“Well, I was just thinking about how much you look like your father,” I replied before reaching out a hand to give his cheek a squeeze. Logan immediately pouted because he disliked being treated like the young boy that he was.

“What is it that you wanted to tell me about?” he turned to ask his father.

Prince Leonard wrapped an arm around my shoulder as if he was about to make an announcement that he was extremely proud of, and that was probably not so far from the truth.

“You’re about to become a big brother because your mother is now pregnant with your baby sister,” Prince Leonard broke the important news to our son.

“A baby sister,” Logan murmured as if he was still trying to process the meaning of the words. For a moment, I began worrying about the possibility that Logan might not entertain the idea of having a younger sister. I’ve heard of and read about cases where the first child becomes insecure at the arrival of his or her younger sibling, and I ended up praying that that would not be the case with Logan.

“That’s amazing! A baby sister!” Logan yelled at the top of his lungs before lifting his two fists upwards into the air as if striking a victory pose.

All of my worries evaporated in an instant, and I could see that there wasn’t anything for me to worry about.

“Is your tummy going to get bigger?” Logan asked as he came to stand right in front of me. He tilted his head as he wrapped his arms around my legs and gave me a hug. Prince Leonard lifted Logan into his arms so that I could have both of them close to me.

“I’m so lucky to have the two of you, I mean the three of you,” I quickly corrected myself.

“That’s right. We’re about to become a family of four,” Prince Leonard quickly agreed with my correction.

Logan placed a hand over my belly before stroking it lightly as if he was trying to take care of his little baby sister that was growing inside of me. The gentle gesture filled me with so much love and made me feel so lucky for all that I have. The prince was right that we were about to become a family of four instead of a family of three, and that filled me with so much hope and joy at the very same time.

“I love you all so much,” I whispered as I felt tears sting the back of my eyes.

“I love you,” Prince Leonard said before he kissed my forehead tenderly.

“I love you more,” Logan said loud and clear as if he was competing with his father.

“I love you. I love you,” I repeated because I couldn’t find any other words to describe the overflowing love that I felt for the prince, my son, my daughter, and our family.

As we continued embracing each other, I could envision such a bright future filled with hope and love for all of us. In that moment, the future felt like a dream come true, but I also knew that it was because of our love and our support for each other that was going to make that dream really come true for all of us. Although I had been through so much, enjoyed so much, and endured so much, I knew that there was so much more waiting for me in this journey called life. When I touched my hand softly to my belly, I was reminded that the start of my daughter’s life would mark another milestone and another start to all of our lives.

“I wonder what we should name her?” the prince asked in wonder.

“That is a very good question,” I said before I turned to offer the prince a smile. When Prince Leonard smiled back at me, I knew that I could trust in him and our love even more than the fact that we were fated mates.

Our future is in our own hands...
