The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 427: True Friend
Chapter 427: True Friend
"Your daughter looks like you," Prince Leonard commented.
"And I think that your son looks like you, and I’m sure that he will grow up into a great king," Regina said, and I could hear the confidence in her voice.
"Let me know if you ever need anything," the prince told her with a warm smile.
"You’re always too kind. Please take good care of yourself and of Mila. Mila, please take care of our King," Regina said, turning to address me.
"I will," I replied shortly before finding myself smiling at her.
Regina truly did look happier than the time when she lived in the palace. It felt like the shadow that had always been following her around and haunting her was no longer there. I could tell that she was no longer living under pressure, and it made her shine with happiness and freedom. It seemed that I didn’t have to worry about her anymore.
After some parting words, Regina led her daughter away from us so that we could converse with other guests. I had no idea how many conversations we had or how many people we talked to that evening, but I was really exhausted even before the event came to an end.
"Leo!" A cheerful voice called out to the prince. We turned around to see Prince Florian approaching us with three women on his arms.
"Trust Florian to show up with three partners," Prince Leonard said without any hint of disapproval in his tone.
Even though I should have been used to Prince Florian’s way with women by that time, I still found it extremely impressive for him to turn up to an official event with three women on his arms. Regardless, I still found myself smiling quite amusingly as the four of them approached us.
"Congratulations, my new king," Prince Florian said playfully before letting out a laugh.
My smile only widened as I watched the two brothers wrap their arms around each other in a brotherly embrace. Despite Prince Leonard taking over the throne, there seemed to be absolutely no hard feelings between Prince Florian and him. After ending his relationship with Regina, Prince Florian seemed to have found real joy in his life by indulging in the love of his many women. It was like he completely forgot about the reason why he wanted to take over the throne in the very first place. The two princes conversed, and for a moment, I could picture them together when they were younger as boys.
I was certain that there was at least one person who was very happy about Prince Florian’s complete resignation from coveting the crown. Before I knew what I was doing, I was looking around and scanning the crowd, searching for that particular person.
"Who are you looking for?" Prince Leonard asked from close to me. I turned around to see him staring right at me, and Prince Florian and his entourage of women had already left us.
"Oh, I was just looking for Duchess Flavia," I replied to him honestly.
"Don’t worry. I’m sure that she is here. Even though she hates making appearances at the palace, I’m sure that she wouldn’t miss out on your wedding celebration," the prince replied with certainty.
"I hope so. I didn’t really get to talk to her during the ceremony part of the wedding," I said with apparent regret.
"Well, here’s your chance," the prince said to me.
When my eyes followed the direction of his gaze, I immediately spotted Duchess Flavia. The moment I felt like our eyes met, the duchess lifted her right hand and waved at me.
"Congratulations on your wedding and your brand new titles. I have to say that it is a great honor to see my dance student now crowned the new queen," Duchess Flavia said before wrapping her arms around me and pulling me into a tight embrace.
"Thank you so much. I’m so sorry that I didn’t have time to catch up with you during the wedding this morning," I said as she stroked my back.
"That’s not a problem. Thank you to both of you for solving one of my biggest problems," she said as she rolled her eyes upwards before smiling at the prince and me.
I understood immediately what particular problem she was referring to. Now that the prince had been crowned the next king, Duchess Flavia no longer had to worry about her son ascending to the throne.
"I’m glad that this can be good news for you," Prince Leonard replied.
"Well, I like it better this way. It’s a little unfortunate that my son has returned to his old ways and that his relationship with Regina did not work out, but I think they are both happier this way," the duchess shared her view without reservation.
"You haven’t been to the palace at all lately," I said before trailing off. It was true that I hadn’t seen the duchess for a long time, and of course, I hadn’t had the chance to continue my dancing lessons with her. Although we kept in touch and she would call me regularly, taking care of Logan took precedence and absorbed quite a lot of my time, leaving me with very little time to spend with the duchess.
"I’ll visit more often if you want me to," she said before flashing me a sweet smile that felt like a gentle and refreshing breeze.
"I would really love that," I confessed to her honestly.
The duchess took my hand and held it in hers, and I could tell that she was of the same mind. Regardless of the initial reason why the duchess reached out to me, I managed to find a true friend in her, and I was glad for the opportunity to spend time with her and learn everything that she had taught me. Over time, Duchess Flavia became someone that I could trust wholeheartedly, and now that the matter regarding her son had settled down completely, it seemed like our relationship would only grow fonder and more stable over time.
