The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 423: The Wedding
Chapter 423: The Wedding
It was clear that everything was too extravagant for my own taste to the point where it must have been pretty obvious to Prince Leonard that I had no hand in the selection and design of the proposed decorations.
"I’m actually fine with anything. I think everything they’ve chosen is very beautiful, and their work is a lot more professional than anything I could have done by myself," I admitted to the prince honestly.
"If that’s the case, then fine, but if there’s anything that you don’t like, just tell them to take it out," the prince said firmly.
"I just think it’s easier to let them sort everything out. It’s enough for me that we’ll be getting married and that Logan will be there to witness our union," I said while trying to keep my tone cheerful. I was certain that if I picked out anything by myself or intervened with the guest list, I would be bringing unwarranted complications and troubles that I didn’t want to deal with.
"If that’s what you say," the prince said after finally giving in.
Everything proceeded as planned on the day of the wedding. Although I always told myself that the ceremony was only for formality’s sake, when the day arrived, I still found myself feeling extremely anxious yet excited at the same time. I had no idea until that point that secretly I must have been looking forward to the day that I would get to formally marry the prince. The white silk wedding gown that had been prepared for me was probably the only thing that I was completely comfortable with, and that was because it was the only thing that the prince and I had picked out together.
The white silk long-sleeve mermaid dress that hugged my figure perfectly was designed with both the prince’s and my input by one of the palace designers and then tailored to my measurements. The dress looked extremely classic and minimal without any lace or embroidery decorations. It stood out in stark contrast to the overly flowery and intricate decoration that was featured all throughout the church and also the ballroom where our reception would be held.
Sitting alone in the dressing room as I waited for a member of the organizing team to come pick me up when it was my turn to make an appearance at the church, I found myself feeling extremely nervous to the point that I could feel my body trembling. I laced my fingers together and closed my eyes as I concentrated on taking deep breaths. I had my wedding dress on, and my hair had been styled into a high elegant knot on the top of my head. The makeup artist assured me that my makeup was done to absolute perfection, and that I looked like an angel.
In fact, I thought that I looked so amazing that I didn’t even recognize myself when I checked my reflection in the mirror. However, the one thing that I seemed to lack, which no one else could help me with, was confidence. Appearing in front of so many influential people still wasn’t my cup of tea. I could feel my legs shaking even though I was still seated, and I wondered if I could manage that long walk down the aisle to where Prince Leonard was waiting for me at the altar. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door that signaled there was no time for me to have a nervous breakdown because it was now my turn to make an appearance at my own wedding as the bride.
"Mummy! So pretty!" Logan’s cheerful voice greeted me the moment the door to my dressing room opened, and he saw me. I quickly stood up from the stool I was sitting on before opening my arms wide to receive my son. Logan ran straight into my arms, and I hugged him with a bright smile on my face. It felt like I couldn’t stop smiling as I continued to embrace Logan. Logan was dressed in a light cream suit with a red bow tie that made him look like the little prince that he was.
"I’m sorry to disturb you, but we really need to go now, or else we’re going to run late," a shy whisper reminded me that I had no time to indulge too much in the sweet embrace that I shared with my son. Prince Leonard was already waiting for me inside the church along with the king and other honorable guests.
"Let’s be on our way," I said as I took Logan’s hand into my own. Thankfully, Logan seemed to be in a very good mood, and I hoped that his emotions would remain stable so that he wouldn’t suddenly transform in front of all our guests.
"I will give you a signal, and then the doors of the church will slowly open. You have to stand here and make sure that you are ready to enter. Please also make sure to smile because many photographers will be there to capture the moment," the organizer instructed me before flashing me a supportive smile.
My heart was racing so hard in my chest that I thought it was about to pop out. Despite what I was feeling inside, I had to maintain a calm and collected facade while reminding myself that I needed to be the strong pillar of support for my son. Although he might not know it, Logan’s presence helped to support me and reminded me that I needed to be strong also for his sake.
"Now’s the time," the organizer whispered with a nod of her head to signal that the doors to the church were about to open.
"Just look forward and smile," I told Logan while sounding much calmer than I actually felt inside. Logan looked up into my face and flashed me a sweet smile.
The doors to the church slowly opened, and I pasted a smile on my lips as I tightened my hold on Logan’s little hand. The light inside the church felt so blinding, and the orchestra’s performance of the classical wedding march felt so deafeningly loud.
