The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid
Chapter 194: Another Prince

Chapter 194: Another Prince

His words came back to me and so did the hauntingly solemn expression on his face when he said those words to me. For the life of me, I had no idea what he meant.

“How can I possibly not be me?” I muttered to myself.

“What are you thinking about all alone again, Mila?” Salena asked from close behind me.

“Huh? Nothing. I was just reflecting on my lesson from yesterday,” I replied after turning around to face her.

Hopefully, she did not hear what I had said just now. It would have sounded so strange, and I didn’t want to explain anything else anymore.

“Will Prince Leonard be here today?” Jessie asked brightly.

“Yes, he should be...” I replied.

“He really does favor you so much. You’re so lucky, Mila...” Jessie said while clapping her hands together excitedly.

“I’m not so sure about that...” I mumbled softly.

I must have been a very non-diligent student because I wasn’t at all looking forward to having my first ever lesson in economics with the prince. All my mind could think about was what he had said to me the day before. My hands cupped the side of my face and then I began feeling my face from various angles. It didn’t feel like anything had changed in my appearance and that made me feel even more confused. If it wasn’t my looks, then was it my feelings, my thoughts, my beliefs...or what is it?

What change in me did the prince realize that I failed to identify?

“I have not changed...at least, I don’t think that I have...” I murmured my conclusion softly to myself.

“You know, I don’t know what you’re so troubled about but if it’s about your lessons, then all you have to do is ask your teacher, right?” Jessie suggested as if it was the simplest and most obvious solution of all.

“Maybe you’re right,” I replied with a thankful smile.

I pursed my lips together in thought before giving it all up. Perhaps, Jessie was right and there was no need for me to complicate things. If I didn’t understand what he had meant, maybe I should just ask the prince.

“I think we should head to your classroom now. Let’s not be late,” Salena said as she headed for the door and opened it.

“Yup. Let’s go! Let’s go!” Jessie said excitedly.

I felt her hands press up against my back as she pushed me softly towards the exit of my room. My two friends made sure to accompany me all the way to the same classroom where I had my lesson with Prince Leonard yesterday. To my surprise, the door to the classroom was already opened by the time that we got there.

“I guess the prince is here already...” I murmured.

Because Salena was so worried about me turning up late for class, I actually got there a little early. I never thought that the prince would get there earlier than I did. I was even more shocked when I walked into the classroom to find another prince besides Prince Leonard waiting for me there.

“Long time no see, Mila...”

I couldn’t hide my shock at seeing Prince Darius standing in the classroom instead of his brother. His beautiful grey eyes rested on my face and my throat immediately felt so dry. I couldn’t find any reason to explain his sudden appearance although it was clear that he was here to see me.

“Prince Darius...” I managed to murmur.

“At least you still remember my name. I see that you have your friends with you today,” Prince Darius said with a pleasant smile before looking from me to where Jessie and Salena stood awkwardly to the side.

“It’s good to see you again. I hope that you have been well...” I said without knowing what else to say.

“You’re probably wondering what I’m doing here,” he said with a light chuckle.

“I didn’t expect to see you here,” I admitted honestly.

“Sit down. I just wanted to talk to you a little before my brother turns up,” he said casually before sitting down on one of the chairs at the table.

“Thank you...” I whispered before taking my seat opposite him.

“You two can stay,” he instructed my friends without taking his eyes off my face.

I tried my best to smile politely at Prince Darius while trying my best to ignore how tense the atmosphere in the room had gotten. It did help a little to know that I wasn’t all alone in the classroom with Prince Darius.

“I heard that Leonard will be teaching you some classes,” Prince Darius said casually.

“Yes. We just started yesterday,” I replied.

“Is he a good teacher?” he asked before he smiled a little at me.

I honestly had no idea where this conversation with Prince Leonard’s elder brother was going. Prince Darius seemed kind yet as calculating as always. Although I knew that he wasn’t just trying to strike up a casual conversation with me, I couldn’t figure out what it was that he really wanted from me.

“Yes, he is. At least, I believe so...” I replied honestly.

“That’s a relief to hear. I truly hope that your lessons progress smoothly. Afterall, there’s so many things that you need to learn and catch up on,” Prince Darius said with a nod of his head.

The way his grey eyes seemed to take in my every reaction made me feel uncomfortable at best. I just nodded at him while I wondered what my reactions gave away.

“I think it’s been a few years since Leonard official took in an official honorable maiden under his wings. You have no idea how thrilled the king is about this. I have to say that I’m happy for you two and I want to be as supportive as I can be,” Prince Darius said with a kind smile.

“I see...thank you...” I murmured simply because I thought that it was the appropriate thing to say.

So, Prince Leonard did have an honorable maiden before and probably more than one.
