The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 193: Emotional Turmoil
Chapter 193: Emotional Turmoil
I guessed it wasn’t that surprising that they were not told who the order was from. After all, all they needed to do was follow orders. Even if the prince ordered for them to serve me, it wasn’t like the Madame needed to let them know.
“I see...” I murmured softly while feeling slightly disappointed at not being able to find out the truth.
“Anyways...about you and the prince...” Jessie said before she smiled at me.
The two girls took a few steps towards me, and I found myself backing away like a scared animal that was gradually being backed into a corner.
I let out a small dry laugh when I realized that the moment that I have very much dreaded had finally arrived. The way the girls’ eyes seemed to light ablaze with their curiosity made a nervous knot form in the base of my tummy. I wondered how much I had to tell them until they would be satisfied enough to leave me alone in peace.
For a moment, I regretted chasing the prince away so soon the way that I did...
...
“So, Prince Leonard is now your teacher?” Jessie asked with a clear look of disbelief on her face.
Salena looked just as excited as she stared back at me with widened eyes. It took a great amount of effort on my end to deal with their endless waves of questions yesterday after the prince had taken his leave. Luckily, I managed to get away without talking about all the intimate things that I did with Prince Leonard. However, to make up for that, I had to distract them by explaining how the prince had volunteered to be my teacher.
After faking that I was too tired to do anything anymore but sleep, I managed to chase my two dear friends out of my room after they had helped me prepare for my nap. My prayers that their curiosity would be satisfied and that they would no longer pester me with any more questions about my relationship with the prince was clearly unanswered. After a very restful night, my dear personal maids turned up to my door right on the clock to drag me out of bed and help me get dressed.
“Well, yes...kind of...” I replied hesitantly.
Although I should have expected this to last for quite some time, it still felt uncomfortable to be interrogated by my friends.
“That’s really amazing. I am sure that the prince is very knowledgeable, and you will learn so much from him,” Salena said with a joyous smile.
The way her eyes sparkled made me feel like she also wanted a chance to study with the prince. I was sure that Prince Leonard and the other princes were all knowledgeable. If an honorable maiden is forced to study so many things, then I was certain that the princes had gone through a very thorough course for their education.
“I guess...” I replied vaguely before pasting a little smile on my lips.
I was sure that there were many things that the prince could teach me; however, the lesson that I had with him yesterday probably did not match with what Salena had in mind. Just thinking about it made me let out a depressing sigh.
“Don’t give up just yet. Your classes just started, right? I’m sure your classes are difficult but hang in there,” Jessie said encouragingly.
“That’s right. This is a great opportunity for you to study. Please do you best and focus on your classes,” Salena readily chimed in.
“Right. I’ll try my best...” I replied without much confidence in myself.
On top of the lessons that he was supposed to teach me, the prince seemed even more focused on teaching me some other things of his own. My brows unconsciously drew into a slight frown as I recalled a major part of our lesson together yesterday.
‘Self-control. Something that you clearly failed to exercise today and something that you need to get better at...’
How am I supposed to get better at that? What is even wrong with me?
“Mila? Lady Mila?” Salena called my name softly.
“Y-Yes? Oh, please just call me Mila like you’ve done before even if it’s just when we are alone. It’s like I’ve told you two before, I feel very uncomfortable when you two address me formally, ok?” I asked before flashing them both a smile that begged for their understanding.
I had so many difficulties to deal with already and my head felt like it was about to burst open at any moment. Having to deal with my friends becoming so formal with me was something that I didn’t need on my plate.
“Ok. Mila, you were spacing out again. Are you tired?” Jessie asked with concern.
“Umm...not really. I was just...thinking of something...” I murmured before turning away from them to pretend to look for something on my vanity table.
If the prince is true to his words, then he would be here today to teach me again. My fingers brushed absentmindedly on some makeup tools on the table before moving to play with my hairbrush as I thought of how strangely my body reacted to him being close to me. During the period when we first spent time working together, I did not have those kinds of reactions towards him. Even if I did, it wasn’t at all that strong. I just felt secure being close to him and appreciated his companionship.
I was very new to working in the palace and I didn’t have any friends when I got staffed to work for Lady Regina, so it was like a blessing to have the prince with me. Back then, I didn’t even know that he was a prince. I crossed my arms over my chest when I felt a chill run through my body. It suddenly felt cold, and I started rubbing my hands up and down my arms. Just thinking about seeing him made me feel all nervous inside.
‘Mila, you might not realize it but you’re not the same person that you were before...’
