The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid -
Chapter 176: The Prince as My Teacher
Chapter 176: The Prince as My Teacher
“The key thing that you should remember is that this kingdom was established under the king’s will to gather powerful alphas and those with wolf blood. Because the wolf clans were dying out, he thought that it was important for the survival of the race to unite all wolves into one strong kingdom. The king at that time, saved all the wolves that he could and built this empire to keep them safe,” Anna explained.
Only around half an hour into my lesson, the door to the classroom that we were in burst open. The loud sound of the door slamming against the wall caught both of our attention.
“I thought I made it clear already that I’ll be teaching Mila myself...”
Prince Leonard walked calmly into the room, and I could feel his eyes on me. It had been so many days since I last saw him. Just seeing him made my heart race wildly in my chest. It was still hard for me to believe that he was really here.
“Prince Leonard...” I whispered his name.
“Your Highness!” Anna exclaimed as she stood up from her seat and bowed low to show her respect.
His sudden appearance truly caught both of us off guard. I guess he did say that he wanted to teach me when he came here before to disturb my brief lesson with Madame Sand. I didn’t know what to say as I watched him approach me until he was standing right in front of my seat.
“Well, I probably won’t be the best teacher for dance and etiquette and the like, but I can teach her the rest. Don’t you agree, teacher?” he said with his piercing blue gaze glued to my face.
“Yes, absolutely, Your Highness,” Anna quickly agreed.
“You may leave. I’ll take it from here,” Prince Leonard told Anna dismissively without even looking her way.
Our eyes met and I found myself getting lost in the depth of his blue eyes. My heart wouldn’t stop racing in my chest and I wondered why I felt so excited. Anna bowed once to the prince before glancing briefly my way and then she left the room. The sound of the door closing behind her made the room suddenly feel colder. I was now alone with Prince Leonard in the classroom.
The past few days offered me a lot of time to think about many things and there were many things that I wanted to ask the prince; however, now that he was here I just couldn’t find the words. My tongue felt like it had tied itself into a knot as I kept on losing myself in the depth of his bottomless blue eyes. I heard the sound of a chair scraping against the floor as he pulled out a chair and then sat down on it right opposite me from the desk. Prince Leonard placed his elbows on the table and leaned across the table closer to me as he rested his face in his hands. His blue eyes never left my face in the process as he continued staring at me.
“How have you been?” he asked me casually.
“Fine...” I mumbled softly.
I didn’t think that I had been fine for the past few days but that wasn’t something that I could tell the prince. The way his eyes seemed to search my mind made me wonder if he could somehow see how I was truly feeling. After staring at my face for what seemed like a year, the prince just smiled as if he was satisfied about something. To my relief, he straightened up a little in his seat.
“Shall we get started?” he asked invitingly.
I was still lost in a daze as my mind struggled to deal with the fact that he was really here. On top of that, he’s supposed to be my teacher for the day as well. I was certain that it wasn’t normal for a prince to be acting like a teacher and especially for his honorable maiden. The way that Prince Leonard was dressed in very casual clothes of his usual white shirt and light blue jeans made me wonder if he simply didn’t have anything to do for the day. To his question, I nodded my head.
“According to the schedule, you’re supposed to study history and then economics today, right?” he asked before smiling a little my way.
“Yes...” I replied faintly.
“Don’t worry. Nothing is difficult if you put your mind to it and I’ll make sure the make the classes fun for you,” he said with such confidence before he smiled sweetly at me.
“Will you be here to teach me every day?” I asked before I could stop myself.
Will I get to see him every day from now on now that my lessons have started, and he’s supposed to be my teacher?
I disliked the way my chest felt tight as I waited anxiously for his response or the small hint of hope that welled up in my chest at the thought of getting to see his face and spending time with him every day.
“Do you wish to see me every day?” he asked as his eyes watched me intently.
His suggestive question made my heart skip a beat before it started racing in my chest. I knew that I shouldn’t have worded my question so hopefully like that. Had I been feeling that lonely without him around?
“I’ll try to be here for your lessons, but I also have work to do so I can’t make such a promise to you. You don’t have to worry about your lessons, for the days that I can’t make it the other teachers will step in to substitute for me,” the prince explained.
“I see...” I murmured as I tried to calm the wild beating of my heart.
“If you don’t have any more questions, let’s start...” he said before showing me another sweet smile.
The prince’s eyes fell to the history textbook that Anna had left on the table before he smiled a little as he reached for it. He flipped through a few pages as his eyes scanned the content while I watched him in silence. After a short moment, he shook his head and sighed.
“The content in the book isn’t entirely wrong but it’s not entirely right either. I had no idea that the people in this kingdom are being educated using a book like this,” he said with slight dismay.
