The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 936: THE FINAL BATTLE (2)

Chapter 936: THE FINAL BATTLE (2)

The spider devils created a web around them as the protection and Cane started to shift into his lycan form, because tonight was a new moon.

Meanwhile Iris gritted her teeth when she tried to compose herself and focus on the upcoming battle. Her little lights fluttered around the lycan’s ears right now, who stood so close to her because he was not going to let anything happened on his mate.

The lycan nuzzled her stomach and the babies responded by giving a little kick. The sight was heartwarming only if they were in different situation and they were on the brink of war, fighting five dragons and ancient monsters that they had never seen and only learned through scriptures before.

However, Rei’s eyes flickered with anger with the scene. He hated the lycan so much and it was not even a secret. He looked like he was going to get rid of the lycan if he was given the chance to.

If something happened to the lycan during the battle and Rei was nearby, it would be a questionable accident.

The five dragons flew so low as it burned everything beneath them. As if they were the mighty gods that would destroy this realm. Everything was burned, the flames illuminated the night sky and it turned night so bright, even without the pale light of the moon.

"That’s a lot of fire..." Zale said. He was flabbergasted to see so much fire before his eyes. He had never seen a sight like this before. "We will not make it."

"Don’t jinx!" Lou slapped the back of his head. "I don’t want to die here!"

They might be able to escape and survive the fire, but what about the warriors, who still trapped inside the cocoon? They couldn’t save themselves and the five of them wouldn’t have enough time to save them.

They bound to lose half of their people. Half of the people would die just like that. They didn’t have a chance to defend themselves. Let alone died honorably during the war against their strongest enemy. They were going to die as food to the spider devils.

Even if Iris was here, she wouldn’t be able to do much to help all of them. Perhaps, if Iris was here, the people from the Holy Kingdom’s pure faction would march here and cause more trouble to prevent them from saving the warriors, as Rei would use their lives essence to replenish his strength.

"How we fight a battle against a dragon?" Cezi asked, this was the first time for him to see a living dragon, because in the past, he was on the same state like Ethan when they fought this ancient creature.

"I am not sure." Jace watched the flames that burned everything. Would there be even a battle to begin with if they had to fight five monsters that they couldn’t even get close to.

"How did you fight a dragon before? I heard you managed to win a fight against one before? What strategy did you use?" The information that Cezi heard must be only half of the story.

"It was not us." Jace narrowed his eyes when he watched a giant spider web was created in the distance to protect the people from the Holy Kingdom. "It was the luna and the lycan, who managed to win the fight." Jace told him the truth. Even Lou didn’t get involved in the battle, because he was in a critical condition and almost died as well.

"Only the two of them?" Cezi asked incredulously. He stared at the spider web, as if he could see Iris. He was fascinated by that fact. The luna was really strong. Was this the same girl he heard was a runt, a useless daughter of alpha Gerald?

On the other hand, Ethan only glance at the burning ground nonchalantly, his main focus was on Aliana. The world could collapse and burn for all he cared, if this woman died, there was no different in his eyes.

He would prefer the world was grieving with him if he had to lose her.

"How is it? Can you do it?!" Ethan asked impatiently. His tone was harsh and Cedric reminded him to calm down, yet the gamma was not having it. "Can you do it or not?! I will bring her to Iris if you couldn’t save her!" Ethan literally growled at Abby. It was already kind enough for him not to call her out for her incompetence.

"You can’t bring her over there," Cedric said. He took a defensive stance, as he helped Abby to stand up and put her behind his back, while she lowered her head in ashamed.

This was not her fault. People tended to put high expectation because of her status as the Serafim and she expected herself to be able to save Aliana too, but her condition was worse than she imagined, than she could handle...

"You need to go through those five dragons and the people from the Holy Kingdom may not allow you to enter their protection." Cedric tried to reason with him.

The distance from where they were standing to where the Holy Kingdom people gathered was too vast and between them, there were thousand of cocoons that trapped the warriors inside, waiting to be rescued, yet the five dragons burned them bit by bit.

"I will take the risk," Ethan said with determination. If he didn’t go, Aliana would die. He was gambling with his and Aliana’s lives at this point.

"Jace, don’t you want to say something?! Your gamma is being ridiculous!" Cedric was a strategist too and this plan didn’t look good.

However, the beta didn’t say anything, he only stared at Ethan, while he warned him.

"I am going, whether you allowed me or not. She is going to die if I can’t get her to Iris." Ethan needed to go through fire in his human form, carrying Aliana on his back, because he wouldn’t be able to take Aliana in his beast form.

Instead, it was Lou, who approached him and took off his red cloak and draped it on Aliana’s back.

"This will protect you from fire for a while. Make sure to wash it until its spotless before you returned it," Lou said casually.

"Please, take care of my sister," Jace finally spoke and they watched Ethan bolted through the fire.

The cloak protected them from the fire, but it didn’t mean it could protect them from the heat. Ethan felt like his shoes melted and it became unbearable to walk on this burning ground, but he didn’t slow down at all.

Meanwhile, inside the protection of the Holy Kingdom, Rei looked much better and Iris hated the sight of him.

"Don’t touch the web," Rei said. The web was a protection that filled with dark magic, since Rei had the spider devil to create it, thus if Iris touched it, it would collapse and they would be in a great danger. "You don’t need to feel sorry, Na. They are going to die in one way or another."

If Rei didn’t use them to replenish his strength, they were going to die because of the dragon.

"You can use your own people to replenish your strength! You have thousand of knights here!" Iris roared. She was worried about Lou and the other people, also how many of the warriors they managed to save?

Iris was right, but Cane knew there was a hidden plan and the main reason why Rei chose to do this. Iris would be able to read this pattern and his main intention if she was calm down a bit, but right now she was too emotional and the alpha laid dormant within the lycan, since it was the new moon.

"Your people is here. These are your people, not them."

Rei then shifted his attention toward the sky, you could see the five dragons through the gap of the web and the heat that could burn your skin.

Rei raised both of his hands toward the sky and at the same time, silver dust raised up. It swirled in the air and scattered as per Rei’s movement.

Elder Rose had told them a wrong information before when they told them to burn the cocoon in order to get rid of the spiderlings when in fact, they shouldn’t have burned it, because the ashes of it could give you an illusion.

And this was the reason why Rei created a massive number of the cocoon from the spider devils, because he knew Decratic had an ancient creature, such as Nefilim and Dragon, two ancient creatures that Rei failed to obtain.

Therefore, he had to make the best use of the creatures he currently had. Putting aside all the sentiment aspect, this was actually a brilliant idea.

Rei wanted to put the dragons under his spell, controlled them with illusion, but what he didn’t expect was the number of the dragon. He was only aware of one dragon, not five of them.

"Na, I need your help!" Rei said. "Let’s do it like the old days!"

He was in an extreme denial that Na was no longer exist in this realm. He saw Iris as Na and no matter what, she would always be Na.

The lycan growled, but Iris held him back from attacking Rei, because it would put them into a disadvantage situation.

She really needed Cane at time like this if Lu was being reckless, but thankfully the lycan listened to her and stopped in time before he could cut Rei in one swift move, since the two of them was very close for Rei to dodge the attack.

Iris glanced at her little lights and the two of them rested on the lycan’s muzzle. There was this little smile on the corner of her lips, which made the lycan nuzzled her stomach.

She knew what Rei meant by doing it like the old days, because she got a glimpse of how Na and Rei tamed a dragon in the past. The dragon was still alive during their time together.

Closing her eyes, from her body, white light emanated and it illuminated their surroundings, her power was blinding and this made the flames around them pale in comparison.

The blinding light did not only make the dragon sightless, but it made it harder for Ethan to carry Aliana over to Iris. He couldn’t see what was in front of him and his senses turned numb, because he was breathing the ashes of the spiderlings too much.

The gamma felt like he was going to collapse and Iris didn’t have any idea about his struggle. She saw Lou and Abby had created protection around them and her Sylph was still there to provide them with magic, thus she didn’t think Ethan was on his way toward her with Aliana on his back.

Ethan started to have a hard time to breath and his burning feet were killing him. He couldn’t see the direction he had to go and he relied solely on his instinct.

"Eth- Ethan... put me down..." Aliana said softly. Somehow, she regained her consciousness. It seemed, Abby’s power couldn’t get rid of the spiderlings within her, but it was enough to make her awake from her slumber. "It’s okay... it’s okay now..."

"Don’t be ridiculous!" Ethan growled. He was in panic because he didn’t know where to go and the burning ground kept shaking. If he fell, his body would be burned, so did Aliana, while above him, he could hear the menacing growls of the dragons. They were stuck in the middle.

"I am sorry, I shouldn’t be angry with you..." Aliana said. "I am sorry. I should have cherished our time together..."

"Oh, shut up, Aliana! We are going to make it! We are going to survive! I only need to get you to Iris and you will be fine!" Ethan snapped in frustration.
