The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 926: CREATING A STORM
Chapter 926: CREATING A STORM
The creature was as big as human, with its eight, black eyes that stared back into your soul. It let out a noise that you have never heard before. The sound between a dying deer and a growl of an angry animal.
"What have you done to provoke it?!" Ethan scolded Lou, as all of them backed away from this creature.
"What?!" Lou protested. "I have not insulted it yet! Who said that inside was a human?!"
Elder Rose narrowed her eyes and then she quoted something from the manuscript she had read about the characteristic of the Devil Spider. "This is the spiderling."
"What do you mean with spiderling? Are you going to say that creature is a baby spider?!" Ethan grimaced.
"What kind of baby as big as that?!" Lou felt like that spider crawled on his skin. He didn’t know that he hated spider until now. The sight of those eight eyes and eight legs churned his stomach. "It’s as big as Lil Thing!"
However, Cane and Iris looked calm. They only scrunched their nose slightly because this creature looked so disgusting with the slimy green liquid that still covered its body.
"Do you feel the ominous feeling comes from that monster?" Cane asked Iris, who was standing behind him.
"Yes, I feel the ominous feeling from it." Iris pursed her lips when the spiderling vomited white liquid from its small, fanged mouth.
That was why, Cane couldn’t control this monster and Iris needed to purify it first. Yet, they didn’t need to keep this creature around.
Without a second thought, Cane used the black wisp to slash the monster’s body into two. It was a clean cut and the blood of the monster was black, thus right now there were this green, black and white slimy liquid pooled around the dead body of the monster.
"Yuck! I am going to vomit." Lou rushed away and emptied his stomach.
"I am going to," Ethan said, following the merchant. He had never seen something so disgusting like that.
"Wait... if that cocoon filled with this thing, it meant..." Jace looked around them and they could feel the creep crawled down their spines.
There were at least more than thirty cocoons here, which each of them filled with the spiderling.
"If the spiderling is that big, how big the real Devil Spider?" Aliana asked their main concern. They had not yet seen the monster on their way here.
Elder Rose explained this because she had more knowledge about it.
Apparently, after the Devil Spider would take a victim and wrapped it inside the cocoon, before it laid eggs inside the person, which meant, the person was still alive when the egg hatched and slowly ate them from inside.
"That’s disgusting," Aliana said with a frown. "How can we destroy them?"
"The most effective way is to burn them."
It was a rare occasion where Elder Rose actually helped them. She explained thing without them even asking, as if she wanted to redeem herself, but unfortunately, Abby was not willing to spare her time to talk with her.
But, with her suggestion, they started to burn the cocoon on their way to cross the border.
"It smells like rotten flesh." Ethan covered his nose and felt so dizzy. He disliked this smell, so did Lou.
"I hate spider," Lou complained along the way.
But, not only in that area that they found the cocoon, but also along the way on Aggeverya road, which was an inconvenient for the shifters, since they had more sensitive senses than the knights.
"Are you, okay?" Iris asked, she stared at Cane’s face. He was frowning because the smell was rather strong. For Iris, this was only a bad smell, but for Cane it was a torture.
"Hm."
Cane pulled Iris closer to him and buried his face against her bossom, breathing in her scent and it helped a lot to push down his disgust at the smell.
Therefore, the alpha spent his time more inside the carriage, while Iris cuddled him. She hoped they found more cocoon ahead of them.
Iris shook her head internally. That was not something that she should wish for.
Inside the carriage, Cane used to ask about the little lights and Iris explained that she already could see the form of it.
"They are as big as my two thumbs now," Iris said, showing Cane her two thumbs as the comparison. "I think they are going to make their first move soon." Their baby girls made their first move around this month of the pregnancy.
Cane didn’t show it, but Iris knew how excited Cane was to see their babies. He would listen to whatever she was saying about their babies, even though she repeated the same thing over and over again, trying to give him the detail of the little lights that only she could see them.
Thankfully, the closer they got to the fortress of the Red Claw pack, the amount of the cocoon decreased and also the miasma.
However, this pack looked very gloomy, as if there was no one alive inside. This was not the glamorous Red Claw pack that was known for its wealth as the richest pack in this continent.
"Damn it! What alpha Dex had done to this place?!" Koda was so angry when he saw his pack had turned like this. "That’s fucking alpha! We need to go inside and behead his head!"
However, no one heard his rumbled of protest, as they waited for their scouts to return and give the report. They were not going to approach without any preparation and knew what they would face.
But, their scout had never returned...
"We don’t need to wait anymore, we only need to charge that pack! There is no way they can fight all of us! Why we need to wait?" Koda became more aggressive as they reached the third day and they had lost eleven scouts. They came from the shifters, knights and magic users.
"If you really wanted to go, just go! No one will stop you!" Lou had enough with his whining, as he shouted at this old man. "Here, take this with you, maybe this can be useful. Count this as my blessing. Go now." Lou threw a fork in front of Koda that he used to eat his fruit.
"You!" Koda stood up from his seat, his finger pointed at the magic user, but he would be so dumb if he thought he could scare the merchant by raising his voice.
"What?" Lou raised his brows, waiting what he was going to do.
Currently, they were inside the main tent with the other representative from their own kind. The elders and Rei were there, so did Iris, Cane and his beta and Gamma, while Cezi came with his beta, Arche and Lou was the representative of the merchants.
On the other hand, Koda didn’t really have any force under his control, because most of the remaining warrior from the Red Claw pack didn’t join them in this journey. Therefore, it was safe to say that he held no real power whatsoever.
But, his favorite word that he would throw at them would be; he was the grandfather of the future king of this kingdom, thus everyone should respect him as such.
If it was not for the fact Lou knew that Cane had a grand plan for this old thing, he would have cursed him.
Lou also still didn’t like the fact Iris stayed in the same place with Rei. He didn’t trust this hypocrite black magic users.
Therefore, they met with dead end again.
However, after a week had passed and their scouts still didn’t return. Cane suggested to make the first move and attack them.
One thing that they were certain of was; there was no protection spell around this pack. No black magic or anything. Therefore, the missing scouts were mystery, because they just vanished.
Cezi’s warrior disappeared without any trace when he was mindlinking the other warrior. There was no scream, no pleading for help, nothing.
It was nerves wrecking to say the least. Not even a black magic could do this.
And today, marked the second weeks they tried to figure out a way to gather information around the pack, but had to fail every time, they gathered together and Rei would try to use his power and intercept the pack.
"If he can do this, why he didn’t do it since the beginning, so we don’t need to lose so many people," Redmond grumbled. In his mind, this man named Rei only wasted their time. In most of the meeting he attended, he was there and he didn’t say anything at all.
If in the beginning he was very active to suggest a lot of things of how to proceed further, right now he was very passive.
"Right?" Ethan grumbled too. "We shouldn’t have sent our people, instead let the Holy Kingdom dealt with it."
All of them watched how Rei made the clouds turned dark and the wind became harsh, as if there was going to be a storm here.
"You need to go inside," Cane said.
Iris went inside the carriage with Hanna and Amee, the three of them watched how the sky turned so dark, reminding them of black rain and dark sky.
The alpha frowned at Rei. They agreed that he was going to attack the pack by using his magic, but he had never said about creating a storm. Cane didn’t even think someone could create a storm.
