The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 925: ANOTHER ANCIENT CREATURE

Chapter 925: ANOTHER ANCIENT CREATURE

"Devil spider," Abby mumbled the words, but aside from her, no one knew what was that, thus she explained a little bit information that she knew. "Devil spider is an ancient creature, a monster."

This creature was as ancient as the dragon, the monster that supposed to extinct centuries ago. Abby only learned this because she happened to read a manuscript about this, back when she learned the history of the Serafims. She saw a drawing of the cocoon of the devil spider and was sure this was the same thing.

"Unbelievable..." Ethan muttered. He stared at the cocoon with a frown. "It’s big enough to fit a human, what do you think inside?" Abby stared at him, as if he was asking an unnecessary question and this finally dawn on the gamma. "No way, you are not going to tell me, this is..."

"It’s human," Elder Rose, she finished the word and everyone turned their head to look at her. They were too preoccupied with the cocoon, they were not aware Elder Rose approached them, aside from Cane.

The alpha saw her coming closer and didn’t stop her because this woman could give them more information.

"How can be the ancient creature is here?" Ethan frowned. He didn’t bother with Elder Rose’s presence, because there was something more interesting for him to know and she might have the answer. "The Serafim said this creature should have been extinct."

"You have seen the dragon. The dragon should have been extinct too, but you fought one."

"Well, technically, I didn’t see the dragon, but I get what you are trying to say." Ethan was unconscious at that time and put aside the dangerous situation, he really wanted to see a real living dragon.

"How can the ancient monsters keep appearing?" Jace asked. He picked up a stick to poke the cocoon, but Iris stopped him. She felt something really ominous from this cocoon.

"Decratic," Elder Rose replied. This was the answer that they already thought, but it didn’t explain anything.

"Elaborate what do you mean with that," Lou asked, he just recovered from life and death situation and was a little bit in a bad mood because of the long journey. Though Grace had said he was fine, but he kept insisting he needed Iris to check on him, until Cane had a ’talk’ with him and he begrudgingly stopped.

Elder Rose gave a look at the merchant before she explained. "Decratic was the epitome of everything evil. He is a strong black magic user." Elder Rose shook her head. "We can’t even say that he is a magic user because his existence is very different from the rest of us. You can say he is the opposite of the Serafim."

The existence of the Serafim couldn’t be categorized with any kind in this realm too. The Serafim was not a shifter, a human, a magic user... the entity of Serafim and Decratic was the same, though they were the opposite of each other.

"Luna! Luna!" Zale rushed toward Iris. "I saw more there! There are a lot of that thing there!" Zale pointed at the cocoon and then toward the direction where he came from. "But, there are a lot of miasma too! You need to be careful!"

"Stay here," Cane said. He didn’t like it when Iris was exposed to such dangerous thing.

"I am okay, Cane." Iris wrapped her arm around his and caressed his chest. "Have you forgotten that I can purify it?" Iris couldn’t get rid of the miasma, but she could purify it. "You can’t come closer too if I am not there."

This poisonous miasma could make you numb and once you couldn’t move, you didn’t have any other option but breathed in the poisonous air, which would eventually lead you to your death.

"No, they are not strong enough," Iris said. She knew what her mate was going to suggest.

Before, during their three weeks journey, they used Abby and Elder Rose to purify the miasma, but it took them half a day to take care of one miasma, while they had encountered more than they could count.

Even Rei, who strangely had the Serafim’s divine power, because he could call the Sylph, couldn’t really purify the miasma. Something about him having the divine power was really weird, but Iris knew she wouldn’t get the answer out of his mouth unless she agreed with his condition.

However, even when she wanted to, she wouldn’t do it if Cane didn’t agree.

If they had to depend on Abby and Elder Rose, they wouldn’t have arrived at the border of Red Claw pack’s territory right now.

It didn’t mean that Cane belittled her power, he admitted how strong his mate was, but his first instinct would always to put her out of harm way and he couldn’t control himself when it came to her safety.

Occasionally, Iris would find Cane woke up in the middle of the night and breathed heavily, as if he was having a nightmare. From the look of it, Cane tried to bottle up his anxiety, which even Iris’s presence couldn’t help it.

"I will be fine," Iris tiptoed to kiss him, but Cane was being petty, he didn’t bend his body to accommodate her like usual, thus she kissed his chest instead and then walked away with Zale.

The young boy glanced at the alpha and followed the luna, showing her the area where he found there were a lot of cocoons, you could say there were three dozen of them and three fissures of miasma.

Iris immediately purified the air around her and all of them had to stay close with her, which meant, Aliana couldn’t avoid Ethan. The two of them had not yet returned to normal and the gamma was being helpless.

Iris thought, after their conversation inside the carriage, they would go back to how they used to, but she was wrong, Aliana still kept her distance from Ethan.

"Don’t be too far," Ethan said, he grabbed Aliana’s hand and pulled her closer to him, but Aliana gave a little twist, yet Ethan held her hand even firmer.

Jace watched everything from behind, while Lou walked beside him. "Do you want to claw his hand away from your sister?" The merchant teased. "Do it. Don’t let anyone touch your baby sister."

The beta growled at the merchant and walked ahead, he walked beside Abby now, while elder Rose followed them quietly from behind. Her eyes were on Abby. Their last conversation bothered her so much, especially with how callous she was.

Abby used to be an obedient girl, who would do everything to meet everyone’s expectation, therefore to see her didn’t care anymore at anyone or anything didn’t sit well with Elder Rose.

More so, seeing how pregnant she was right now, it almost felt like she saw herself...

Abby was right. Her current condition was the same like how she was decades ago.

"Are you, okay?" Iris asked Zale. She remembered this young boy roamed around this area alone and was exposed to the miasma.

"I am fine," Zale said. He looked fine.

This was weird because if Zale came here earlier without Iris, he supposed to feel uncomfortable somewhere, he must have breathed the poisonous miasma.

Iris thought about it for a while before she dropped the matter and focus on the cocoon. Zale was right. This place was covered with this cocoon.

"This one is still moving!" Abby pointed out one of the cocoons. It was subtle, but you could see the movement from inside.

"Do you think there is something alive inside?" Ethan asked.

"What? Like a giant worm?" Lou replied.

"I mean human, you idiot." Ethan glared at Lou, who taunted him.

"We need to open it," Abby said. If this was a human, the movement indicating that they were still alive, they needed to save them.

"Don’t touch it, it contains dark magic!" Iris warned Ethan when he was about to claw the cocoon. "I will purify it first."

However, Cane didn’t think that was a good idea. He hated the idea to be exact. "No need." He grabbed his mate’s shoulder and pushed her back behind him. He had enough. Iris knew she was powerful, but sometime she could be very reckless with that knowledge.

Cane stood in front of Iris and he used the black wisp to slash the cocoon. Using black wisp was not Iris’s first option, because she didn’t comfortable of using this power. Not like Cane, she didn’t really grasp this power.

"Hey! You can give me a warning!" Lou protested. Thankfully, he had a good reflex, where he could dodge the black liquid that spurted out from the cocoon when Cane slashed it. "What is that?"

Lou came closer to see what kind of thing that had been moving inside the cocoon when a big, slimy thing splashed on the ground.

It looked like a creature inside a thick membrane that covered it, but upon closer look, Lou was sure this was not a human being like how they were thinking. "This is not human, what is this?"

The membrane was very thick, but what prevented him from seeing the creature inside was the green liquid that filled the membrane.

The thing inside it was still moving and when Cane slashed it again to make an opening, the green liquid oozed out and everyone could see what was inside.

It was spider. As big as human!

"What the fuck!" Lou jumped and backed away when the spider crawled its way out of the membrane.
