The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 911: THE BLIND MAN

Chapter 911: THE BLIND MAN

"You had an affair with your own protector and became pregnant. Do you think you are better than me?"

That timid little girl, who was trying to please everyone, now turned very cold and nonchalant.

"Maybe it runs in my blood to screw my protector."

In the past, Abby wouldn’t have even dared to imagine she said something like this, but right now, instead of being scared, she felt this emptiness, even her fear couldn’t reach her. She was shut off from the reality.

Her mind still wondered where Liam was, but she didn’t know who she should ask. She didn’t have anyone in the Holy Kingdom, a sad fact that she just realized it now. It was very late for her to notice it. All this time, it would be Liam and Cedric, who stayed by her side.

"Abby!" Elder Rose looked livid and shock, but aside from that, she was awfully humiliated from being called out. "How dare you saying such thing!"

Elder Rose raised her hand and was about to slap Abby, but she was not that fast. She had aged and became slow, thus Abby could see it coming. She swatted her hand easily.

"Am I wrong?" Abby didn’t change her expression. "Did I say something wrong? You don’t like Rei because he never returned the baby that you conceived out of love with the man that you truly loved. I bet you never knew the baby’s whereabouts until now."

It was very liberating to be able to speak up what was in your mind, being freed from fear and the consequences of your action. It felt good when you were be able to stand up for yourself and point out how shitty the person, who had been talking down on you.

They acted holy, but there was nothing holy about them. The more you knew about them, the more you would be able to smell their shit.

"All of those years you taught me how to be a proper Serafim, only now I learned a valuable lesson." Abby looked at Elder Rose in her eyes, she didn’t falter, neither she stuttered when she spoke. "You show me what kind of mother I don’t want to be."

After saying that, Abby walked out of her bedroom, leaving Elder Rose, who looked like someone just smacked her face. Her eyes turned red, but she gritted her teeth and composed herself, and when she walked out, Abby had gone. She didn’t know where she was going to.

Meanwhile, Abby hastened her step to go to the shifters’ quarter. The closer she was, the more she met with warriors and all of them looked at her openly with a furrow between their brows, as if questioning why she was around.

And with her numb feeling, Abby kept walking.

However, when she reached the alpha and the luna’s bedroom, two warriors stopped her and asked what she was doing there.

"The alpha and the luna are not here. You can leave. We will tell the luna that you come by."

See? The way they treated her had drastically changed, even before she let go of her title officially. They had been there and witnessed everything how their luna outpowered her and now they didn’t give her an ounce of respect.

"I will wait for her." Abby was picking up her fingers again.

On the other hand, Iris was looking for Cane. The alpha was talking to Cezi and his beta, Arche. Both of them nodded their head politely at Iris when she approached them, while Cane stretched out his hand to pull her closer to him.

"What bring you here?" Cane kissed her cheek.

"I have something to discuss with you," Iris said, but then she glanced at Cezi and Arche. "I will wait for you after you finished."

"There is no need for that luna, we are done. We are about to leave," Cezi immediately said. He and his beta then resigned themselves, leaving the two of them.

"Did I intervene with your discussion?" Iris asked, while walking side by side with Cane. This place was rather chaotic because there were so many people here, thus the alpha took his mate to a quieter place.

"No. We had discussed the important detail when you came." Cane took her to a tavern and let her sit down. It was a very hot day and Iris was sweating. He ordered two cold drinks for the two of them.

"What did you discuss?" Iris was being curious and the alpha actually entertained her curiosity by explaining his discussion with Cezi.

It was about how to accommodate those merchants, who was going to stay and fight against the royal. They were not really good at fighting, but they could provide supplies and weapons for the knights, some of them sent their men to the Goffa mountain in order to mine the magic stone, since warrior from the Blue Moon pack joined their course, they lacked of people to do so.

The magic stone of course to provide the magic user in battle.

Cane explained all of that patiently and when the drinks came, he tasted her drink first and waited for a while, only when he thought it was safe, he gave it to her.

Iris was grateful by how thoughtful he was.

The alpha did the same when their food came, because Iris said she had not yet eaten anything and would love to try to eat here, since it had been a while, she was eating out.

"Do you like it?" Cane asked when Iris devoured her food. She became a foody recently. He noticed how she was always snaking and ate more than usual, which was a good thing.

"The chicken is overcooked, but it’s fine," Iris replied.

Cane pulled up her hair so it wouldn’t get dirty. "So, why did you look for me?"

"Oh, right!" Iris put down her chicken. She completely forgot her intention to look for him. "I want to discuss something with you."

"About Lou?"

"How do you know?" Iris narrowed her eyes.

"I think I can read you easily now." Cane kissed her lips to get the sauce of her.

Iris then told him what was in her mind and what Grace was thinking that it was only Rei, who knew how to heal Lou.

"Have you talked to her?" Cane asked. By ’her’ here, he meant Abby.

"No." Iris shook her head and took a bite of her chicken again. "She has been locking herself in her bedroom and she has not yet replied any of my letter." Iris licked her fingers. "Maybe I should come to visit her personally."

Cane agreed, but only if he came along with her too, which he couldn’t do it now or tomorrow. "Let’s do it in two days."

Iris nodded, but her focus was still on her chicken. They didn’t talk about Rei at all, if it was possible, Rei could kneel down like that until the end of time, but they also knew this matter would need to be addressed sooner or later.

"What are you going to do now?" Iris didn’t want to go back to her bedroom.

Cane thought about it for a while. "Do you want to come with me?"

"Yes!" Iris’s eyes lit up.

And with that, after their meal, the two of them went to see the people from the Black Market. Cane talked with some of them, discussing something that sounded like rebuilding Black Market again.

That would definitely become their goal, but of course, before it could happen, there was a huge problem that they needed to be tackled.

They were currently, inside a huge tent, that could accommodate hundred of people and all of them were busy with their own things.

Iris listened to their conversation, sitting quietly with a drink on the table beside her when her eyes caught a sight of a bald man, who was sitting at the opposite corner from her. She recognized this old man.

This was the man, who gave the entry tattoo to Cane almost two years ago when they went to Black Market. More importantly, he was also the first person, for as long as Iris could remember, who pointed out that she was not a runt and guessed that she was a magic user instead.

Like before, he had this piece of clothe around his eyes, which made her thinking that he was blind. Iris took her glass and walked over to sit next to him.

The blind man turned his head. "Hello again," he said. He talked in Andel language, the language spoken on Andel continent.

Iris blinked her eyes, surprised. She didn’t even say a word, but how could he know it was her? "Do you know me?" she answered with the same language.

"We met before, didn’t we?" The man smiled softly. "Just because I am blind, it doesn’t mean I couldn’t recognize you."

"How?" Iris asked him again.

"I am blind, but I have a great sense."

It was not only great, but incredible! For him to still recognize Iris.

"In the past..." Because this man already knew about her, she wouldn’t waste her time again. Definitely, this habit to talk straight to the point was influenced by Cane. "How do you know that I am a magic user?"

Iris was not completely a magic user, her power was different, but obviously she was not a shifter or a runt.

"Oh, I know. Shifters have this strong presence, but magic users have unique presence, but you are a little bit different."
