The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 908: I WILL GO TO THE END OF THE WORLD FOR YOU
Chapter 908: I WILL GO TO THE END OF THE WORLD FOR YOU
After all, Rei was the founder of the Holy Kingdom. The idea came from him about the appointed five knights and the insignia on their swords, instead of the birthmark that would only be carried by the real Serafim’s protectors.
This was the relation between the five swords that Iris saw in her dream, the five appointed knights for every Serafim and the symbol. And there was more deepest meaning in between.
"What the meaning of this?" Elder Xarex blinked his eyes. He had never seen Rei knelt down before someone. He was a haughty man, who wouldn’t let his knees touched the ground and the only time he lowered his head was when he was scheming his opponent, appeared to be delicate and gentle.
However, he took this too far.
"She is the Serafim, the real Serafim that the pure faction and I will acknowledge." Rei lifted his head and looked at Iris right in her eyes. "I am at your service, my Serafim."
Cane stepped in, blocking his line of sight at his mate. Livid was an understatement of what he felt right now, even his beta and Redmond could feel the anger that rolled off his body.
His declaration sounded like a warning in Cane’s ears. He was going to stick with Iris no matter what with the excuse of being her protectors.
"I refuse," Iris said. "I don’t accept you."
"It doesn’t matter whether you accepted me or not, but you have chosen me centuries ago and I will always pledge my loyalty to you."
"You said you are my protectors, but then you hurt the other protector." Iris stepped aside and glared down at Rei. "Lou is my protector, he bears the mark, yet you hurt him."
Rei raised his brows and shook his head. "I don’t know about that. My apologize, luna."
It was hard to tell whether he was genuine not knowing about it or he just pretended like he used to do. Having someone like this was like a double edge sword. He was powerful and had the Holy Kingdom within his palm, but then the more powerful he was, the more dangerous he would be and neither Iris nor Cane believed, he would be that simple.
"Wait, what is going on?" Elder Xarex knew about the first Serafim’s life essence within Iris, but he didn’t have any idea about Rei’s declaration of having Iris as the Serafim. "You can’t appoint her as the Serafim!"
Rei’s declaration was a big deal. He had never made any declaration for the previous Serafim and didn’t acknowledge them, therefore, if he declared and pledged his loyalty to Iris, the whole Holy Kingdom would follow. Pure faction was a small faction, but they were the one, who actually held the highest power, because of Rei, since he was the founder.
"Kneel down before the Serafim!" One of the men behind Rei raised his voice against Elder Xarex. He looked unhappy with how defiant the elder was.
While Elder Xarex was still unable to accept this, Elder Dandolf had knelt down before Iris solemnly and pledged his loyalty to her. On the other hand, Elder Rose gave a dagger look at Rei.
"What about Abby?" Elder Rose glanced at her daughter, whose had her mouth sealed tightly, she clenched her fists. "What will happen to her? She is the Serafim."
"The pure faction has never acknowledged her as the one," the same man spoke again. "We have everything done, Abby will be nullified from her position and luna Iris will claim her rightful status."
"The Holy Kingdom people will not agree with that!" Elder Rose shouted in frustration. "Do you really think you can change all the people’s mind?!"
"The notion of it has happened ever since we left the Holy Kingdom. Seventy to eighty percent of people has agreed with us. Their disappointment on Abby for not meeting up their expectation all these years made it easy for them to understand that Abby has never been the real Serafim."
Rei had everything planned before he left Andelus Continent and even though thing escalated sooner than he expected, it still went relatively well.
On the other hand, Redmond was speechless. How could the situation turn like this? They were not here for this. He glanced at Cane and immediately knew that thing had gotten out of his hands too. The alpha didn’t expect this turn of event.
It seemed, Cane finally met someone as wicked as him. This wouldn’t be a good thing for their future.
Rei came in full force toward Iris, he offered everything that they needed in this period of time; loyalty, power, army and a full support. He pledged his loyalty to her openly and offered the highest position in the Holy Kingdom... or it was safe to say, this realm. Because a Serafim was not a figure in the Holy Kingdom alone, she was a figure that was well known in the entire realm.
One thing that you needed to realize was; the Holy Kingdom could interfere in the matter of the other kingdom if it was related to the magic user or magic in general. She was a symbol of peace and power, where her presence was expected during pandemic time because of her healing power, which was often happened in some part of the kingdom.
That was why, king Aeon actually did a great job to keep this kingdom away from the interference of the Holy Kingdom for decades, because once they got involved, it would be hard to untangle yourself from their influence.
Rei was being very wicked and this was only the tip of the iceberg of his schemes.
He couldn’t get Iris by force, such as kidnapping her like he did in the past, but he ensnared her in different way. He changed his tune completely when the situation did not benefit him.
This was the person that they had to deal with aside from Decratic.
"No way! You can’t do that!" Elder Rose screamed. Her veins popped out, as she tried her hardest to hold herself back from attacking Rei. "Why didn’t you say anything?!" She turned around and faced Abby angrily. "You are the Serafim! Did you forget what you have to go through to reach this position?! Have you forgotten all of those hard time?!"
Elder Xarex finally fell into silent. He didn’t say anything, his expression troubled. He was still trying to get a grip of what was happening because everything moved too fast, as it took a drastic turn.
"I don’t want the title anymore," Abby said. She felt the burden lifted from her shoulders, but why her heart was still very heavy? Everything that she had done and gone through during her hard training and lesson flashed before her eyes.
And everything was for nothing.
She was raised as the Serafim, taught to be one, expected to be one, but now she lost it. Being a Serafim was her entire identity, her life... and now she didn’t have it, what she was?
"I will step down," Abby said in small voice. The heavy burden was lifted, but her heart was bleeding.
Elder Rose couldn’t believe with what she heard, so did Elder Xarex, but before they could regain their composure, Abby had left the room. She felt her chest tightened and she might breakdown crying there, that was the last thing she wanted.
Once Abby left, all the focus was on Iris again.
"Whether you accepted my loyalty or not, the whole Kingdom will be at your disposal, Serafim," Rei spoke solemnly, as if he was not the person, who tried to kill Lou just a few hours ago.
Even now, he was still being forceful toward Iris. He didn’t give her any option to reject him. Whether Iris came to him, or him to her, it didn’t matter for Rei, because as long as he was with her, everything wouldn’t go in vain.
"I still don’t accept it," Iris said sternly, she was upset beyond word.
"So, you pledged your loyalty to her?" Cane finally spoke after he was very quiet the whole time. He opened a chair for her and asked her to sit down before he continued his question, because Iris had stood for a long time. "How far will you show your loyalty to her?"
Rei was still kneeling down, along with the two men behind him and Elder Dandolf, while the other two elders still refused to show their loyalty. They didn’t acknowledge Iris as the Serafim yet, but it would only be a matter of time.
"I didn’t answer to you," Rei replied proudly to Cane.
"Answer his question," Iris said angrily.
Hearing this, Redmond felt very familiar. He tilted his head, trying to remember where he had seen this situation.
Surprisingly, even though Iris humiliated him, Rei still had this smile on his lips when he answered her. "I will go to the end of the world for you."
"Can you go now and stay there?" Iris replied.
Jace and Redmond almost laughed out loud when he heard this, they lowered their head and cleared their throat.
On the other hand, Cane simply caressed her cheek, knew how much his mate was upset. She looked so beautiful when she was being snarky like this.
However, her comment didn’t affect Rei, he was still smiling. "In that case, I can’t help you with Decratic. We need to take him down, right? And I can only help, if I stay by your side."
"Who allowed you to stand up?" Iris snapped when Rei was about to stand.
