The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 904: THE PEOPLE FROM THE BLACK MARKET

Chapter 904: THE PEOPLE FROM THE BLACK MARKET

"Stop the carriage!" Cane growled and the carriage stopped immediately.

Second later, Iris got off the carriage with Cane’s help, as she vomited under the nearby tree.

"You don’t need to look..." Iris was embarrassed and even though this was not the first time for Cane to witness her in such condition, but she still couldn’t get used to it.

However, like always, Cane didn’t budge. It didn’t bother him at all. He had seen a lot worst than this. More so, it was his pregnant mate, the woman who carried his children, no matter what she did, it would never bother him.

This was the second time for Cane to ask for the carriage to stop, because Iris was having motion sickness and she kept vomiting. Right now, their carriage was the last, even though the shifters brought up the rear, but it was very obvious their carriage was so behind.

"I am sorry," Iris said weakly after she emptied her stomach.

"You don’t need to be sorry," Cane replied darkly. He was worried and anxious with Iris’s condition. The pregnancy started to get hard on her, especially when they had to keep moving.

Meanwhile, the other warriors around the luna and the alpha were having a doubt in their mind to see this. They stared at the luna intently.

"Alpha, Luna, should I ask for Grace to come?" Amee asked, she was worried about Iris’s condition, though it was relatively normal for her.

Because of what happened had not been resolved yet, Grace was still being confined. She was in different carriage among the knights that took the front line in this huge entourage, while magic users and the merchant were in the middle.

The healer indeed didn’t have her freedom for the meantime, but no one would dare to try anything funny toward her, more so, Cane sent two warriors and Pax to accompany the carriage, to make sure her safety.

"No... there is no need..." Iris shook her head, while Cane helped her to wipe her mouth.

They were already gathering unnecessary attention because they were left behind, if they had to call Grace over too, her pregnancy would be revealed and Iris and Cane agreed to keep it secret for as long as they could.

"Ask someone to call her," Cane said.

"Yes, yes, alpha." Amee left in hurry, just in case the luna managed to change Cane’s mind.

"Cane!" Iris wanted to refuse, but Cane told her not to say anything.

"I will handle the rest, you focus on getting better," he said firmly. If he used this tone, no amount of persuasion would work, thus Iris chose not to argue, not to mention she was still feeling unwell.

"I want to walk, I think it will help." Iris brushed her hair from her face.

As if understood what Iris wanted, Lil Thing came to her, the lizard was on its head. The two creatures seemingly got along well, despite their ’rough’ first meeting almost two years ago.

"No, Lil Thing, I want to walk, thank you." Iris chuckled, she scratched the back of its ear and her heart ached every time she saw the fluffy bear lost its other ear.

In the end, Lil Thing took her left side, while Cane walked on her right, his hand wrapped around her waist protectively.

At this point, they really fell behind, but there was nothing to be worried about, the alpha was here and their personal warriors, added to more warriors that surrounded them also the fierce lazy bear, Iris was safe.

"Feeling better?" Cane asked. He caressed her cheek, as she leaned against him. He felt bad to take her in this journey. "Lou can take you, Hanna and Amee to Crystal Moon pack. He can stay there with you." Cane had been weighing this idea ever since they left Diandem pack.

Lou would have jumped to this opportunity if he heard what Cane said. Spending time with Iris was his goal, but unfortunately, the merchant was ahead of them, he had to join the merchant group in this entourage.

"And risk the opportunity for Rei to whisk me away?" Iris didn’t like to use this as her trump card, but she didn’t like Cane’s idea at all. This was the only way for her to stop Cane.

"Lou will be there." Cane didn’t like this idea either. His brows furrowed.

It was astonishing to see how Cane grew from hating the merchant to even breathe the same air like his mate to the point, he entrusted Iris to him.

"Do you really think Lou can handle Rei? Do you think he will win? Lou will not be able to match his speed, if he whisked me away."

"He can create a portal."

"And where would he look for me?"

Cane was silent and Iris pursed her lips, this was their recent argument.

"I am not going anywhere, Cane. Deal with it," Iris said sternly. She huffed, annoyed because Cane wanted to send her away. She could already imagine her days without any news from him. This man wouldn’t write her a single letter and it had happened twice. Iris was not going to experience that again, not when she was pregnant and craved for his presence. "I am useful too now. You can’t put me aside."

Cane was speechless. "I don’t ask you to leave because you are useless, Iris."

"Whatever it is, I am not going anywhere. If you are here, I will be here too," Iris said stubbornly.

Not long after, Grace came with Pax, but along with her was Rei. He smiled brilliantly at Iris. His eyes literally lit up with the sight of her.

Amee looked apologetic. She wanted to explain, but Cane gestured for her to leave. The alpha could guess more or less what had happened. This man must have allowed Grace to leave her confinement only if he came along too.

"I heard the luna is unwell, I came to see her too." Rei looked at Iris and then Lil Thing. "The white bear and the salamander. You have interesting creature with you, luna." His politeness felt very fake. "White bear is well known for its loyalty and the salamander is a fierce creature, once it grew up, it can be your good protector. I have not yet explained much about the salamander the last time we met, I would love to have a conversation with you and answer all of your question."

"Thank you," Iris replied tersely.

Cane didn’t pay attention to him, as he ushered Iris into their carriage again and Grace followed behind. The alpha slammed the door behind him and let the two women inside, while he stood in front of the carriage door, staring straight at Rei. His eyes full with distrust and disgust.

"You don’t need to be very hostile with me, alpha. We are on the same side and have the same goal."

"And what happened after?" Cane narrowed his eyes. An ally today could be an enemy tomorrow. It was very true in this realm.

"What happened after, let’s see after everything settled down."

That was the only conversation they had until Grace came out half an hour later. She only told the alpha that the luna was eating something bad, which caused her stomach pain.

And after that, Grace left again with Rei.

When Cane went inside the carriage, Iris told him that she and the babies were fine and Grace gave her a bottle of pill that she had prepared ever since they were in Diandem pack, since she had foreseen something like this might happen, after all, this was not Iris’s first pregnancy and Grace had a record of her symptom.

For the rest of their journey, they were fine and once they arrived at Moon Dew pack, the warriors in that pack didn’t resist much, since they didn’t have an alpha and the only person in charge was the gamma of the pack.

Another reason for their easy surrender was because the amount of force that they had to face. They would end up dead if they tried to fight.

And once they were inside, they discovered more thing. The people from the Black Market that were held captive by lady Cyan were still alive.

They were put in the underground room, where they had to cramp against each other for months.

And of course, the merchants were happy to find their comrades were still alive, thus they were busy to handle the unexpected situation.

Everyone was busy, as they had a handful of task, thus Cane used this opportunity for Iris to sneak into Abby’s bedroom.

"Lou will make a portal into her chamber. I will make sure no one will be there, but you need to hurry." Cane caressed Iris’s cheeks.

If it was someone else with this task, his heart wouldn’t be this heavy, but to let her go out of his sight with only Lou by her side made him anxious. He would come with her if he could, but he needed to keep Rei away.

"You don’t need to worry," Iris said, she tiptoed and kissed Cane’s chin. "I will be back with a good news."

"I only want you to come back."

"And I only want us to leave immediately," Lou grumbled. He had his arms crossed in front of his chest. "Can you two stop thinking that anyone else is invisible?"

As a respond, Cane pinched Iris’s chin and leaned over to kiss her lips.

"Heaven! We will only go a few rooms away!"
