The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 899: THE THIRD KNIGHT
Chapter 899: THE THIRD KNIGHT
Lou didn’t care what the meaning of the birthmark behind Cedric’s back, he couldn’t care less about that as long as he could get Iris for himself. He was well aware with the fact there would be five protectors around Iris, but it didn’t change anything.
In his twisted mind, there was no need to have more protector. It wouldn’t make any different.
"Let’s kill him." Lou lit up fire on his fingers, was ready to struck the unconscious Cedric with it. "Getting rid of him will lessen our trouble too." They didn’t need to deal with the complicated situation with the Holy Kingdom in the future.
Therefore, it was a win win solution.
"Sure, do it." Cane glanced at Lou, who looked slightly taken aback because he agreed readily and instead of doing it immediately, the merchant became suspicious. He put off the fire and faced the alpha.
"What are you going to say if he died."
"You killed him." There was nothing, but honesty there.
"Iris will kill me, if you told her that!" Lou knew this alpha was up to no good!
"That’s the goal."
Lou was speechless. If he could, he would kill this annoying man right there and then, it was a pity that he lacked of that skill.
"Did Iris know about this?" Lou swallowed back all of his grievances, while the alpha kept staring at the mark on Cedric’s back.
"Not yet." Cane pulled down his clothes and then walked away. He came here to confirm this.
"Don’t tell her! Don’t you dare to tell her! Don’t ever tell her!" Lou shouted before Cane closed the door behind him.
Lou really didn’t want Iris to have this knight as her protector, knowing her, she would find away to keep this imbecile of man by her side. The merchant still remembered how Cedric defended Abby and caused trouble as much as that weak Serafim for Iris.
Not to mention it would complicate thing with the Holy Kingdom, after all, as per Cane’s guess, the person who killed Cedric was Rei and this man was as ancient as the Holy Kingdom itself. He was a powerful black magic user.
"Are you sure?" Iris asked Cane when the alpha told her about it once he returned to their bedroom.
Iris was woken up because she noticed the empty bed and instead of Cane, it was Aliana, who stayed with her. She didn’t know where the alpha had gone, but thankfully, Cane returned not long after.
"I just confirmed that." Of course, the first thing Cane did after learning about the birthmark was to tell his mate. "I think that’s the reason why you felt different about him."
Iris contemplated about that for a while. "That makes sense..."
Cane pulled her body toward him and hugged her. "This is already late at night, let’s sleep. We will think about it tomorrow."
Iris wanted to keep the conversation, but then she realized that she was tired. After using a lot of energy to preserve Cedric’s life, she exhausted herself.
She didn’t want to force herself, especially at this time, thus she dropped the topic too.
"Is there something you want to eat?" Cane asked, he played with her hair, while his mate snuggled against him.
"No."
"Hm..." Cane hummed, he kissed her forehead. "How are the little lights?"
Iris chuckled, this became Cane’s routine to ask about the little lights whenever they cuddled and was about to sleep. It was unfortunate that Cane couldn’t see them, since they looked so cute now.
"They don’t move, I think they are sleeping..."
The night was quiet and comforting for the two of them, but out there, there was a certain man, who appeared near Silver River pack, to be exact, this was the place where Iris had a showdown with Decratic, the same place, where she destroyed Aria’s body.
Rei crouched down and touched the ground.
Aria’s body was destroyed, but it didn’t mean her soul too...
Meanwhile, back in the pack house of Winter Moon pack, Abby was having a hard time to accept the fact Cedric had died. She was wrecked with guilt.
People out there might not be able to see her grievances, since she was quite good to conceal her true feeling, but Liam could tell. After all, they had gone through so much together and Cedric was a precious person to Abby as well as to him.
However, his death was something they didn’t see it coming at all, especially under such false accusation, which neither Liam nor Abby dared to correct it. He shouldered the blame without saying anything and now it costed him his life.
"It’s not your fault, Abby. It’s not your fault." Liam hugged her tightly, while she cried inconsolably in his arms.
"If it’s not my fault, whose fault is this?" Abby snapped. She knew she shouldn’t have lashed out at Liam, but she couldn’t help it. What he said about how she was not in the wrong and it was not her fault got on her nerves. She was not blameless!
The two of them were sitting on the floor, next to the bed, feeling the cold ground beneath them and basked themselves with remorse.
But suddenly Abby felt this sharp pain in her stomach. She gasped and bent her body forward, hugging her belly with fear that crept in.
"What happened? Abby?" Liam jolted up. He saw the pain on her face.
"He- Healer... call the healer..." Abby knew there was something wrong with her baby. Was it because she was too emotional?
Liam didn’t need to be told twice, as he dashed out of the room and looked for the healer. His heart thumped wildly, he was having a hard time to think clearly.
But, little did he know, once he left the room, Elder Rose entered. She closed the door behind her and walked toward Abby with the expression that was hard to read.
"Li- Liam?" Abby lifted her head. There was no way he returned this fast. But once her mother’s figure loomed above her, she could feel something would go wrong. "El- Elder Rose, what are you doing here?"
"I see you are in pain, I can help you," Elder Rose said coldly, she crouched down and brushed her fingers against Abby’s sweaty forehead.
"I- I don’t need your help, you can leave." The pain in her stomach was overcame by her fear of what her mother might do. She seemed off.
"Come here, Abby. I can alleviate your pain." Just like the other Serafim, they knew a few things about healing power.
Elder Rose indeed could help Abby, but the problem was; Abby had sensed something was not right and she believed her gut feeling to stay away from Elder Rose. Something was wrong with her intention.
"No. Stay away from me!" Abby was exhausted and was in pain, she didn’t have the energy to fight her mother, but something inside her snap, probably it was her sheer will to protect her baby from the danger.
Abby created a barrier between her and Elder Rose, but it was too weak and the latter could break it easily.
