Chapter 897: JEALOUSY
Chapter 897: JEALOUSY
As far as Cane knew, Iris could only see the spirit of the dead shifter, since she was able to see their wolf spirit, that was why she knew that she was pregnant with twin and their future children would be shifters.
However, Cedric was different. He was not a shifter. He was a knight. He didn’t have wolf spirit and he had not died yet, in that case, how could Iris saw his spirit?
Iris straightened her back when she heard the question, she had been wanting to discuss this with Cane to gain more perspective from him. She loved to discuss thing with him and the feeling was mutual.
"I am not sure about it yet, but I feel different about him." Iris started and Cane raised his brows, staring at his mate with deep eyes.
"You feel different about him." He quoted her. "You feel different about another man and you want to discuss your feeling with your mate? Did I say it right?"
At first, Iris didn’t get it, but then she realized how weird she worded her statement.
"Cane! You knot that’s not what I meant!" Iris was flustered and Cane caressed his cheek.
"I know, I only teased you." But, the look on his face didn’t say he was teasing her earlier. It was not convincing either. "So, what do you feel about him?"
Iris then told him about what she felt. She indeed saw Cedric’s spirit, but it was not the same like when she saw the wolf spirit or the spirit of those shifters, who died and came to look for her.
"How is it different?"
Iris thought about it for a while, because sometime there was time when it was hard to put into words what you felt about something.
"When I saw his spirit, I felt close with him. As if there was a connection between us. I felt his pain and grievances. He didn’t say anything to me, but somehow I can hear his voice in my head." Iris tried to recall that moment when he saw Cedric. "That was the same like when I felt black magic, but this feeling was not an ominous one... felt like a longing," Iris contemplated.
She was too focus on explaining her feeling, thus she didn’t pay attention to her choice of word.
Cane pinched her chin and stared directly into her eyes. "What did you say? Feeling of longing?" he smiled, but even Iris knew this was not a good sign when he smiled like this. "Don’t you think that you have grown so bold now, my luna?"
Iris really wanted to kick herself when she finally realized her mistake and how it sounded. She grimaced. "Cane, you know I didn’t mean it in that way."
"Hm?" He raised his brows. "So, what do you mean when you said that you longed for another man?"
Iris really wrecked her brain to think of a solution to get her out of this predicament. Cane had never shown this side of him before even when Lou kept bothering her, but that was because she showed no interest to the merchant, yet she said it to his face that she longed for another man.
Couldn’t think of a better solution, Iris threw herself at him, she leaned over and kissed him.
"Don’t be angry," Iris said, trying to explain herself, but when Cane was about to say something, she would kiss him again to silence him, so she would have a chance to speak. This was not the first time she used this wicked method. "What I meant is... I felt like I have known him for long. Someone that I knew from the past. The longing feeling that I felt was not a woman to man." Iris shook her head, hastily explaining her innocent.
Hearing that, Cane narrowed his eyes. "Now, I just realized one thing..."
"Wh- what?" Iris stuttered. She straddled him now, while Cane put his hand on both her hips to steady her, just in case the carriage was unstable and she would hurt herself. Even when he was being petty like this, her safety was still priority.
"Why there are a lot of men flock around you now?"
Iris blinked her eyes and the next second she burst into laughter. Despite loving the sound of it, Cane pinched her bottom to stop her from laughing.
"What’s so funny?"
Iris cupped his face between her palms. "Are you jealous?" Iris felt bad because she felt good to see Cane was bothered with it.
All this time, it would be her, who felt insecure with a lot of women lusted over her mate. Some of them even openly showed their interest in him. Though, Cane had never given any indication he would ever reciprocate their feeling, but still, it bothered Iris greatly. It was disrespectful and very aggravating.
But right now, Cane felt what upset her the most in the past.
"I am not," Cane replied straightforwardly. "Jealous is the feeling when you want something, but you can’t have it. I don’t have anything to be jealous of, because you are mine."
Iris blushed when she heard his bold declaration. She was his...
Cane really knew how to speak smoothly, despite the situation. Iris didn’t have any idea why their discussion came to this point when they were talking about Cedric earlier.
However, seeing her mate was in a bad mood, Iris tried her best to coax him. She peppered the alpha with kisses.
"You know that I only want you, right?" There was still no answer, thus she came up with an idea to give him more kisses. "Cane..." Iris whined because she couldn’t get any respond from him.
But, all of sudden, Cane growled, his eyes filled with disgust, which startled her. Did she go too far?
"Don’t make a sound," Cane said darkly and soon after the carriage stopped and Zephyr’s voice could be heard.
"Alpha, sir Rei is here," he said from the coachmen seat. "He is standing on our way."
"Run him over," Cane said annoyingly, which made Iris widened her eyes. He didn’t mean to kill him outright, did he?
"Are you sure, alpha?" Zephyr sounded hesitant. "He is standing in front of us and doesn’t seem he will budge." Zephyr had told Rei to step aside, but the man ignored him completely, his eyes fixed at the carriage, as if he could see Iris was there.
"Should I tell you twice?" Cane growled dangerously.
Zephyr grimaced, he looked at Pax, who sat next to him and decided to follow the order that was given to him.
The carriage rushed toward Rei, but the man stood his ground, didn’t move an inch. If he kept like this, he would be truly run over by the carriage.
However, when Zephyr and Pax thought they would create more trouble for themselves, Rei’s figure disappeared in a blink of an eye. He couldn’t find anywhere.
"Alpha, he disappeared," Zephyr reported it, but right now Cane’s focus was on his mate again.
The alpha didn’t even waste his time to think about Rei at all.
"So, tell me about your feeling," Cane said, back to their topic.
