The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 893: THE PUNISHMENT IS DEATH

Chapter 893: THE PUNISHMENT IS DEATH

Cane had expected them to ask for this meeting, but the fact it happened right away after Rei arrived was pretty interesting. Why he was in hurry?

Yet, the reason was very simple and Cane was only overthinking the whole thing, since he was trying to minimalize the mistake he might make.

Decratic, the Holly Kingdom people, the Serafim, the Elders and now Rei. All of them were the people that Cane wished would stay away from his mate.

"Where is luna Iris?" Rei asked after a brief introduction that was led by elder Xarex.

"She is sleeping," Cane replied curtly.

Aside from being more annoying, because he acted like this was their first encounter, Rei still looked the same; with his golden hair, green moss eyes and the appearance that look like he was only over twenty three years old, his steps were so light like feather, as if he was floating instead of walking.

Cane really wanted to smash those feet. The sight of him alone already got on his nerves and his scent was very disgusting. The alpha could feel the lycan within him shared the same sentiment.

"I would love to see her after so many incredible things she had done," Rei said with enthusiasm.

His personality slightly changed. He felt off and more manipulative than the last time they met. Also, from what Iris told him, he was not like this when they met the first time. At that time, Iris described him as a quiet young man, who didn’t talk much.

Cane wondered if every time he did the ritual, the person whose body he claimed would affect his personality too.

"I can arrange your meeting with her, but you need to get in line, since there are so many people wanted to see her too," Lou chimed in, which made the elders were not happy about it, because the merchant had nothing to do with this.

Rei focused on Lou, their eyes met and the former gave the latter harmless smile, which made Lou shuddered.

"Please do," Rei replied, unbothered. "Now, can we discuss about how to handle Winter Moon pack after our success attack?"

Rei didn’t look like he had any indication to acknowledge the meeting that happened months ago in the Goffa mountain and Cane chose to play along with it.

=============================

"Our?!" Lou blew his top after the meeting. "How he could keep saying ’our’ when he was not even there when the attack happened?!"

"Talking about that, you were not there too when the attack happened," Jace quipped. "In that case, you are on the same boat with him."

Hearing that, Lou gave the beta a nasty look, but he quickly regained his composure. "I did not join the attack because I have more important mission."

"You can’t call sticking up with the luna when she was well protected as an important mission." Jace scrunched his nose at the merchant.

Their meeting earlier purely only talking about what they would do next and surprisingly, Rei was cooperative enough to make things smooth. He agreed with some of Lou’s suggestion about what they would do next, while Cane kept it to himself.

Most of the time, the alpha was silent, observing the situation and let Lou did the talking, since the merchant was already aware of what Cane’s plan was. Therefore, his suggestion aligned with Cane’s interest.

For now, they were going to ’clean up’ Winter Moon pack and stayed in their pack house, while figuring out what they would do next. Their informant said Kellan and Decratic’s followers had rushed back to the Capital City and fortified themselves there, which meant Moon Dew pack and two packs in west kingdom were most likely deserted.

"Cane?" Iris opened her eyes when Cane sat down on the bed next to her. "Everything is alright?"

Iris must have known him much better now if she could tell that something was bothering him in one glance. She pushed herself up and rubbed her sleepy eyes. It was still afternoon, but she was sleepy. It seemed, her pregnancy started to show its sign.

"Rei is here." If it was in the past, Cane wouldn’t have elaborated thing with her, but he had grown so much from his former self and saw Iris as someone that he could talk about anything, everything.

Therefore, he told her about the meeting earlier.

"Yes, I agreed with you. I think he has an ulterior motive, there is no way he came all the way here to find peace," Iris voiced out her opinion.

Somehow, Cane loved to see how Iris furrowed her brows as she was deep in thought. When Iris immersed herself to find a solution in order to help Cane, the alpha was having a good time observing his mate.

Cane stretched out his hand and smoothened the crease between her brows before he traced down to her nose and then to her earlobe, in which Iris swatted his hand away and lifted her head.

"Why don’t you discuss this with alpha Cezi?" Iris suggested. Cezi had been very lowkey. He didn’t give any suggestion and simply followed Cane’s order all this time, it seemed, he still felt guilty for what happened.

More so, what happened to his sister was still a great blow for him and his father.

"What do you think he can help us with?" Cane didn’t pay close attention to Cezi too and rather neglected him. As long as he could use his warriors in this war, he was fine with it.

Or maybe, Cane was only being petty after how strongly Cezi and Derick fought him and sided with Kellan before they knew the truth.

"Capital city is directly adjacent to the Crescent Moon pack, maybe alpha Cezi can help find the best way to enter Capital City through their pack. What do you think?" Iris stared at Cane expectantly.

Even though they worked together with the people from the Holy Kingdom, but sure enough they had to be a step ahead of them, since they were not truly an ally.

Cane smiled at her idea. "You are very brilliant, love. Should I take you to a strategy meeting from now on?"

Iris blushed to hear how Cane complimented her. It meant a lot for her.

Later, Cane asked someone to call Cezi and he also asked Iris to be presence during his discussion with the alpha. There was Lou and Jace too.

On the other hand, Abby was summoned by Rei. This was not a good sign because he called for Liam and Cedric to be there too.

"So, I heard you are pregnant?" Rei asked, his voice was cold, it was very different from the way he talked in the meeting with Cane earlier. The atmosphere inside this tent was very depressing.

"Yes, Rei," Abby replied. All of them used to address him with only his name, though he held the real power within the Holy Kingdom.

Rei turned around, this time he faced Cedric. "So, it’s your baby? You know the consequences for this?" He walked closer toward Cedric, like a predator approaching its prey. "The punishment is death."

After saying that, Rei slashed Cedric’s throat.
