The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 891: AN EASY VICTORY

Chapter 891: AN EASY VICTORY

The solution was there, but it just clicked in Cane’s mind when he prevented Lou from using his magic by restraining him with the black wisp from the lycan.

Just like how it worked with the letter from Rei that was sealed by black magic, by using the black wisp, Cane also was able to neutralize the black magic that was used to create this barrier around Winter Moon pack.

The shield was still there, but the black wisp neutralized a huge part of the black magic and allowed the warriors, knights and the magic users to go through it. It didn’t matter how strong the protection shield was, because once the magic users, who created it died, it would disappear too.

And with the black wisp neutralized the black magic, they finally could really start this war.

Everyone was very excited that they finally found a solution and could go forward with the plan, instead of wasting their time, waiting for the other party to attack first.

More so, this attack came as a surprise, since Kellan and the other people in Winter Moon pack still believed, their protection was unbreakable. In a way, that was right. Cane didn’t break the protection, he just created a gap for his people to enter.

"He is insane. How he can figure that out?" Lou hated to admit it, but he was in awe. He also was not aware that Cane managed to learn about this ability thanked to him. The merchant would die of annoyance if he knew about it.

"What are you doing here?" Zephyr looked at Lou with a frown. "Wait, aren’t you supposed to lead the magic users in the attack? What are you doing here?"

Lou spared Zephyr a glance. He was wearing his proud red cloak and scoffed smugly. "I am here to protect the luna."

"Yes, me too," Zale chimed in, he appeared out of nowhere and stood behind Iris, which made Lou clicked his tongue. He was not happy with the sight of this brat.

Lil Thing joined them too, the white bear walked lazily toward Iris and nudged her hand, asking to be scratched behind its ear.

The five warriors scrunched their nose.

"What do you take us for?" Otis protested.

However, all of their protest fell into deaf ears, while Iris glanced at Abby. She looked pale and nervous. She kept picking on her finger and Liam grabbed her hand to stop her habit.

Iris didn’t know what happened with Abby and the elders, but from the look of it, thing didn’t go well at her end.

In the distance, you could hear the clamoring sound of the fight and gradually the protection shield that covered the whole Winter Moon pack disappeared as the magic users, who had created it died during the battle. It was a good sign.

But, the battle ended rather fast than they predicted.

Iris, Abby and their protector were standing at the safe distance, watching everything unfolded. Even when they were not shifter, they could smell the thick metallic scent of blood in the air and this was nauseating.

At some point, Eron asked Iris if she wanted to return to the tent, but she refused, she wanted to stand there and watch, just in case she was needed.

Thankfully, there was nothing major happened, they could take over Winter Moon pack rather smoothly after they managed to enter it.

"Most of the warriors and Decratic’s followers had retreated, only around fifty magic users stayed there to sustain the protection shield," Cane told Iris when he returned. It was already dawn when they managed to clear the area and capture the magic users or killed them if they tried to fight back. "Tonight stay in the tent, we will move to their pack house, once they have cleaned it up."

Cane cupped her face between his palms and was not happy when he felt how cold she was.

"You shouldn’t be out at this hour," Cane said, as he grabbed her hand and took her back to the tent. "Is there something you want to eat? Golden Seed fruit?"

Iris laughed. "No. I don’t want to eat anything. I just want to be with you." She attempted to hug Cane, but he avoided her.

"I reek of dirt and blood, stay inside. I have called Hanna and Amee to accompany you. I will clean myself first." Cane kissed both of her cheeks, but then he asked in a whispery tone. "How are the little lights?"

The smile on Iris’s face was so bright, it could lighten up the entire tent. "They are fine, but I think one of the babies is so timid, one of the lights used to rest on your shoulder." Iris pointed at Cane’s right shoulder, while the other light would bounce everywhere.

Outside, golden color of the sun painted the sky. It was a new day and it started with a great news that they managed to get a control over Winter Moon pack without losing their people.

It was an easy victory, which left a bad taste in Cane’s mouth, because it supposed to be not this easy, unless Decratic and his people had something under their sleeves.

This was what Cane was worried about when he cleaned himself at the river. He didn’t want to be near his pregnant mate with blood in his hand and clothes.

However, he caught her scent.

"Iris?" Cane turned around when he smelled her scent and saw his beautiful mate walked toward the river with clothes in her hands. "You shouldn’t be here."

"You forgot your clean clothes," Iris said, as she approached him. Cane had left her with Hanna and Amee, but she wanted her mate. "Don’t worry, Eron and the others are nearby, I didn’t come alone, but I told them to keep a distance from the river."

Well, the luna and the alpha were in good term and now they were in the situation, which required one to be naked, the five warriors wouldn’t be so bold to step closer even without Iris’s warning.

"You need to rest." Cane’s eyes darkened when Iris approached the river. She looked so sweet and beautiful under the first light of the sun, her auburn hair fluttered in the wind, which made Cane had this urge to run his fingers to comb her soft curls.

"I will, but I think I want to clean myself first. I was so worried about you and the other that I ended up waiting for your return the whole day yesterday." Cane didn’t seem happy to hear that. He would have a ’friendly’ talk with Lou after this.

The merchant insisted to stay behind to protect Iris, but he allowed her to stand the whole day? That’s ridiculous.

However, Cane failed to understand that Iris was very stubborn once she determined to do something and it was only with him that she would relent.

"Do you want me to help you?" Iris asked.

Cane clenched his jaw. "Yes, but you need to undress, if you wanted to help me."

And Cane watched how his mate undress herself in front of him...

Later that day, Rei arrived.
