Iris remembered Abby’s reaction when she asked about Rei the first time, she looked terrified, as if there was a big, dangerous secret there, but what she told them just now it felt so shallow. Yes, that was also a big secret to know about the dark magic within the Holy Kingdom, but then it was not something crucial.

If that was the only secret, then Abby’s reaction at that time didn’t make any sense. She looked horrified and didn’t want to talk about it at all. It was not just a secret.

"You are trying to hide something. That’s not the secret." Iris stared at Abby closely. "You always give us a piece of information and then another piece when you are being cornered and then another piece. We don’t want your crumbs of information. You are here to ask for our help, but if you don’t even trust us, you better leave." Iris reminded her about her intention to come here in the first place and why they were having this conversation.

Lou stopped laughing and narrowed his eyes at Abby, he looked annoyed and Cane was still quiet, the alpha watched how everything unfolded and silently created his own place for this matter.

"I am not." Abby didn’t look convincing when she denied it, even she could hear it herself.

Iris didn’t talk anymore and stood up. "I am tired. I thank you for your information and let see what we can do to help you."

And that was it, Iris didn’t even try to persuade Abby anymore, she simply stood up and was about to enter the other room that was parted by a curtain inside this tent, but all of sudden Abby stood up too and she looked like she was being torn.

"I told you that Rei is a Holy Spirit. People in the Holy Kingdom, who knew about him thinking like that. They look up to him and respect him so much because he was the first Serafim’s protector, but..." Abby bit her lip, she picked on her fingers again. This was very hard for her to reveal this.

Iris turned around, she waited for what Abby was going to say.

"Can you stop wasting our time and start talking? You are really annoying," Lou scoffed. "If you asked a big favor, at least, gave the same value to us."

Meanwhile, Cane was still quiet, but he saw the way Abby picked on her fingers and how they started bleeding.

"There is a ritual." Abby was shaking. "Rei always has this ritual with the Serafim."

"What ritual?" Lou narrowed his eyes and bent his body forward, interested to know more about this person. He needed to know his opponent, especially when this person wanted to take his woman away. Well, he was her protector, right? It was only right for him if he got her out of harm way.

"It is black magic... something that you have never heard before." Abby was visibly trembling now and Iris came to her and let her sit down.

"What is it with the ritual?" Iris asked, she sat down next to her.

Abby took her time to gather her courage to let outsider knew about this. She caressed her stomach unconsciously and Iris saw that gesture. She felt sorry for Abby and everything that she had to go through.

Living a life where you have to constantly prove your value while other only gave you a disappointed look because you didn’t meet their high expectation was the worst way to live. Abby was raised as a Serafim and now she had to betray them. It was not an easy decision to make.

But nevertheless, she had to choose, which one was more important for her.

"There is a sacrifice for this ritual. Rei would take a young man above sixteen years old as his new vessel when his current body decayed." Abby looked at Cane. "The same thing happened to you, alpha. You are the vessel for the lycan."

After Haco, the lycan took Cane as his vessel.

"But, I am sure his face was the same like when he was still with the first Serafim," Iris noted this.

"Yes." Abby nodded. "I overheard the conversation between Elder Xarex and Elder Rose that this black magic Rei has been using to preserve his life in order to meet with the first Serafim again is actually not perfect. The perfect one will not require him to change his body over and over again. He also chose to preserve his own face because he wanted the first Serafim to recognize him. I think that was what they said about it."

"So, how many times this ritual happened?" Lou asked. He had never heard about this kind of black magic before.

"The body would grow old like normal human, unless the body was being wounded or injured badly. As far as I know, he would change his body every fifty years or so, or if something happened, he might change it faster."

The pure faction was consisted by a small number of people, but they were the people that Rei trusted the most and held the real power within the Holy Kingdom.

People might thing Serafim was the sole ruler for the Holy Kingdom and the elders were only her advisor, but the truth was; there were so many people above Abby, who controlled everything.

"There is one more thing..." Abby gritted her teeth. She already told them almost everything, there was no way back for her right now. "Rei would take the Serafim’s daughter."

"What do you mean?" Lou leaned over, opened his ears widely to be ready for this revelation. This was insane! But, he loved deepest and darkest secret!

A Serafim couldn’t have any relationship with her protectors, because they were deemed as a low born and someone, who should be with the Serafim was a man that held power and from great bloodline.

However, it was already common thing for the Serafim to hand over their newborn daughter to Rei until they were one year old.

Nobody knew what Rei did to the baby, but he would always return the baby after one year had passed and it was only if the baby was a girl. During that time, the Serafim wouldn’t make a public appearance, outsider would think the baby was with the Serafim all this time, but in truth, the baby was with the pure faction.

"Rei will always return the baby until..." Abby frowned. "Elder Rose’s second daughter... Rei didn’t return Elder Rose’s second daughter. Only the elders and the previous one, who knew about Elder Rose’s second pregnancy, because from what I learned, Elder Rose was having an affair with her protector and being pregnant because of that. I couldn’t confirm this, because I read it on her record without anyone knew it."

Abby was curious about whether or not Elder Rose was her mother, since she treated her very different with Gabriel, therefore she secretly read her book record and found this information.

"Rei never returned the second baby to Elder Rose. People only knew Elder Rose has two daughters, but in truth, she has three daughters."
