The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 868: YES, LOVE...
Chapter 868: YES, LOVE...
Lu was having none of it when these women tried to flirt with her, as he growled at them to back off, while Lou looked miserable because he couldn’t get a little bit of fun.
He was not a womanizer, but he wouldn’t turn down some affection here and there. After all, Nala was left with Sabian in Diandem pack and he couldn’t get his need met when she was not around, but this lycan ruined it and he couldn’t even complain.
"There, you can ask for the fruit to him," Mark said, pointing his finger at a skinny man, who was talking with someone on one of the ships at the harbor.
"Thanks," Lou said, he flicked a silver coin to Mark and approach the skinny man, who he pointed, while Lu was following behind him. Lou then talked to the man. The sky was very clear and the wind was rather cold.
Lou didn’t want to go to Capital City, he didn’t think there was anything left there, more so the last time he was there, they couldn’t find the fruit. In that case, this harbor was the best place for him to find the fruit Iris wanted.
"How much money do you have?" Lou asked the lycan. He came here in hurry, so he didn’t bring much with him.
"I don’t have any money," Lu replied honestly.
Lou was upset. "You dragged me here to get the fruit, but you didn’t have any money?" If he could, he wanted to kick his leg. Unfortunately, he was not that brave.
"What? You don’t have any money with you? You should know to bring money."
Lou wanted to retort, but he saved his energy. Arguing with this lycan wouldn’t bring him anywhere. In the end, he exchanged his magic stone with three Golden Seed fruits, where Lu immediately took it from his hands.
"I bought that fruit." Lou wanted to give the fruit to Iris himself, forgetting there was no way he would be able to do so with the lycan around.
"You exchanged these fruits with the magic stone that Howling Wolf pack provided. The Howling Wolf pack belonged to Cane and Cane is me." Lu looked so smug with the three Golden Seed fruits in his arms, he couldn’t wait to see Iris’s expression when she woke up. "Let’s go back."
"Didn’t he say that he is not Cane not long ago?" Lou grumbled, but he created a portal and took them back.
But before that, they saw three ships sailed toward the harbor.
"More merchants?" Lou squinted his brows. The merchant should have sailed to Winter Moon pack after they got news from them, so they could march together toward Moon Dew pack. "I don’t know there will be more merchants..."
"Hey, let’s go back!" Lu urged him.
With that, they returned. It was almost morning and Lou only got three more hours to sleep before they had to move again and Lou had to go back to Chrystal Moon pack to check what ships he saw last night.
"Where did you get this?" Iris was surprised to see what Lu gave to her. Three Golden Seeds fruit. She just woke up and the first thing she saw was Lu’s red eyes stared at her, which startled her a little.
"I got them!" he said excitedly, but he didn’t want to tell her how he could get them. "Eat! I have a hard time and have to go through a lot of trouble to get them! You should eat them all!"
Iris was a little bit suspicious, but then she didn’t prod further, because the moment her tastebuds tasted the sweet and sour taste of the fruit, she enjoyed it so much.
"Thank you," Iris said genuinely. She kissed him on the cheek.
Lu determined to drag the merchant back to the harbor and get more fruit for Iris, but Lou actually didn’t return to their entourage even after they reached the border of Winter Moon pack’s territory.
"Just like we expected, the whole place is protected by dark magic," one of the magic users reported back to them after a thorough investigation.
Iris could already tell, but the elders insisted for their magic users to check on the situation too, just to make sure, since in their experience, no one could tell black magic only by a single glance.
"Luna Iris, you can start to purify the black magic." Elder Xarex approached Iris.
"I never said that I will purify the black magic from the shield." Iris was still upset because the elders questioned her ability to detect the black magic, but now once they had confirmed it, they came to her to do the job? "Why don’t you ask to your magic users to do it instead? I don’t want to be questioned anymore in front of my pack member."
Iris was the luna of the pack and for Elder Xarex to question her ability when she had given them more than enough proof of her power was akin to a slap on the face and Iris didn’t want to let it slide.
Redmond chuckled when he heard that, so did Zale, who was standing next to him. The young boy came along because they had learned from the previous event that he would follow them in one way or another, so to save everyone’s time, they decided to get him with them, an extra help would be appreciated during the journey after all.
And Lil Thing too came with them.
"Fine." Elder Xarex was the head of the elders too, so even though he was wrong for the way he treated Iris in the beginning, but he wouldn’t lower himself by begging her in front of the people from the Holy Kingdom.
In the end, there were two hundred magic users that tried to crack the shield with the assist of the previous Serafim, Elder Rose. She called the Sylph to enhance their magic power, but it was not enough.
With that, Elder Xarex ordered for two hundred magic users more to help. You could see how distressed they were when the shield didn’t budge.
"Keep trying!" Elder Xarex roared.
"They will not be able to crack the shield," Abby said, as she approached Iris. She stood next to her, while Cedric and Liam were not too far from them. And for Lu, the lycan was currently sleeping inside the carriage.
"Why do you think so?" Iris glanced at Abby. Ethan and Jace, who were standing behind her also tried to listen to her explanation.
"I think you already knew the answer. You can feel it, right? The shield contained with Decratic’s black magic." Abby was having a hard time to purify it and only Iris, who actually could do it, but it was also difficult for her to achieve that, let alone mere magic users under Elder Xarex’s command. "Elder Rose should absorb the black magic, if she really wanted to crack the shield. But, Elder Rose will not think of that, because she is not familiar with Decratic’s black magic."
What Abby said was right. After a few encounters with Decratic she was familiar with this feeling, where originally she thought it was only her was being restless, but actually it was Decratic’s power.
"Let them try," Iris replied nonchalantly. "Make a campsite here, it seems it will take some time for us to attack them," she ordered Eron to relay the message.
"Yes, luna!" Eron then went to inform this.
"Have you thought about my offer?" Abby asked. She was very nervous, but she was good at hiding it now. "Do you really not want to know about Rei?"
"I will think about that." Iris glanced at Abby.
"Are you going to be like this?" Abby grabbed Iris’s hand when she was about to leave. "Are you punishing me now because I made it difficult for you before for not being cooperative?"
Iris swatted her hand. She stared at Abby intently when she spoke. "Everything is not always about you, Abby. You are not the only one, who have gone through difficult time and being judged. Stop thinking that everything is about you and maybe you can feel better."
Abby gritted her teeth. Iris must have seen what she had gone through, just like how she had seen her darkest time. Comparing to what Iris had to endure all this time, Abby felt awful.
And after saying that, Iris walked away, she entered her carriage again and stayed with Lu, she snuggled into his arms to look for comfort.
"Cane, I miss you..." Iris buried her face against his chest. From the corner of her eyes, Iris could see her two little lights started to change. It was not very clear, but it started to have a shape. Iris smiled when she saw it and she felt Cane tightened his arms around her body.
"You smell different..." Cane said sleepily.
"How?" Iris closed her eyes and breathed in his scent. She liked his warmth body and the comfort he gave her.
"Sweeter..."
"Really?" Iris didn’t think much about that and fell asleep, while out there the elders and their magic users were still trying to take down their enemy’s protection shield.
Iris only woke up when the sky had turned bright red and the first thing she saw was Cane’s dark eyes. She actually woke up because he caressed her earlobe.
"You look skinnier..." Cane said, his voice was a little bit rough, but Iris was very familiar with his gesture.
"Cane?"
"Yes, love..." Cane kissed the tip of her nose.
