The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 863: PLEDGED THEIR LOYALTY

Chapter 863: PLEDGED THEIR LOYALTY

"Lu..." Iris was being very patient with this lycan. "Be good and listen to me, okay? Or, I will not speak to you again." Iris grabbed both of his hands and kissed his knuckles. "We need them. This is not over yet. I don’t want you to be in danger anymore and we need more people to fight for us."

Lu pouted his lips. He stared into Iris’s blue eyes, it pained him to realize Na was gone. Her soul was gone. Her life essence had merged completely with Iris and they had become one and now Lu was left behind again, keeping his promise to Na for helping Iris to destroy Decratic.

He couldn’t disappear yet because the sixth sword was within him and that sword and Iris were the closest thing to her...

"I want a hug," Lu sulked.

"Of course." Iris was more than willing to give the lycan a warm hug and he buried his face against the crook of her shoulder, closing his eyes to savor her sweet scent.

Lu had waited Na for five centuries only to have a brief moment with her, but he was willing to wait for more centuries to have that short precious moment again, even if it was only a remnant of her.

They stayed like that for almost half an hour because Lu refused to let Iris go. The lycan became exceptionally quiet during this time and he didn’t even mention anything about sex, neither he initiated it like he used to.

It was only an innocent moment between them and somehow, Iris could feel his... sadness? She might think too much about it.

When they finally left the room, the sun had set and all the preparation had been made. Ethan and Jace were there, so did the previous alpha, Derick and the current alpha of the Celestial Moon pack, Cezi, along with their warriors.

Iris couldn’t see Abby or Liam and Cedric, but she saw the three elders, they stood at the sideline and their eyes fixed on Cane. All the people there must know that it was the lycan, since his red eyes gave away his presence.

The elders didn’t seem happy to see the lycan, since they still had this mindset to get rid of the cursed creature, but the situation was rather complicated for them to pursue this matter.

"Are you sure, it’s alright to let him do this?" Ethan asked Iris in low voice, as he escorted them to the center table.

Right now, they were in the open area, in front of the pack house, since they needed spacious space to accommodate thousand of Celestial Moon pack’s warriors.

"Do you have a problem with me?" Lu glanced viciously at the gamma, he had been in a bad mood. If he could choose, he didn’t even want to be in this place, surrounded by the people he didn’t like. The only person he liked was only Iris and he tolerated this discomfort for her sake.

"No, of course not!" Ethan raised both of his hands and smiled brilliantly, trying to sweet talk his way out. "I only worried because this little ceremony might bore you, more so they are not important people to be graced by your presence!"

Iris was speechless when she heard that. She wanted to role her eyes so hard, even more with Lu’s respond.

"Hm, you are right." Lu nodded, agreed with Ethan. "I like this shifter." If there was someone else that Lu considered to like, it would be this gamma.

"Of course! Everyone likes me!" Ethan looked so proud of himself and Jace slapped his head for grinning like a fool, but Lu growled at the beta.

"Don’t you dare to hit him again!" Lu grunted viciously at Jace. Thankfully, Iris immediately tugged Lu’s hand and walked faster before he caused trouble.

On the other hand, Ethan wanted to laugh his butt off to see the look on Jace’s face, but he restrained himself, or else the gamma would beat him to pulp. After all, the lycan wouldn’t be around all the time.

There was nothing special about this little ceremony, as they kept it precise and simple. On the table, there was this Vessel Bond, where two people would over their blood to bind them into a pact. This commonly used for those who would pledge their loyalty.

The vessel bond was like a small basin with a croak in the middle of it. The intricated words around it made of golden.

This little ceremony was what Iris and Redmond had gone through over a year ago and this time, Cezi and his warriors would do it to Cane.

Alpha Derick and Cezi looked at each other when they realized it was the lycan they were facing, not Cane. It was hard to comprehend about the lycan’s existence within Cane’s body, yet they tried to unlearn about the information that put the lycan into a bad light, since this creature looked harmless enough to stand quietly next to luna Iris.

"Luna, this is..." alpha Derick approached Iris and talked to her in low voice, but of course, Lu could hear that, but Iris squeezed his hand to warn him to control his anger.

"It’s fine. He is still Cane. Lu and Cane are the same." Iris knew what the concern of alpha Derick.

"Of course not, if I have my own body, this alpha will look shabby in comparison," Lu grumbled, because he couldn’t openly protest.

After Iris reassured alpha Derick, this little ceremony started. Iris gave her white dagger to Lu, so he could drop his blood on the basin, Cezi did the same thing, after that, he took an oath to Cane.

The rest of the warriors lowered their head, showing their submission toward Cane, pledging their loyalty to the alpha.

After the ceremony, all of the warriors left, they were no longer war prisoner and they could stay in the warriors living quarter with the rest of the warriors and the knights.

Above them, the sky was dark, because tonight was a new moon and Iris wondered whether Lu would shift into his beast form or stayed like this, since it had been him, who occupied Cane’s body.

But, her line of thought was being interrupted when Elder Xarex approached her and Lu growled darkly, which made the elder put some distance between them.

"Luna Iris, I think this is the time for us to talk," Elder Xarex started. "This matter has been postponed for so long."

Iris knew they would need to talk about this sooner or later, but she had been avoiding it because she needed Cane to be with her. This was a big deal, something she couldn’t decide on her own, since she couldn’t figure out how Cane would handle this matter.

However, Lu agreed immediately before Iris could turn his suggestion down. "Sure, let’s talk."

Elder Xarex nodded and told them he would wait in the library and informed this to the other people that he deemed necessary to be there.

"Lu, do you know what you are doing?" Iris frowned. She was certain Lu didn’t care much about this problem. Or, maybe he could read what was in Cane’s mind? "Do you have plan of how to handle this?"

Lu shrugged. "I just wanted it to be done as soon as possible, so I can get him off my butt." Lu grabbed Iris’s hand and pulled her toward the library. "Let’s go."

"Lu!" Iris protested, this lycan would mess things up!

In the library, Elder Xarex had called for the other two elders and surprisingly, Abby and her two knights were also there, but there was this tension in the air. They didn’t speak with each other. It seemed, Abby didn’t come and discuss thing with them too in the last few days.

On Cane’s side, Jace and Ethan came, so did Cezi and his beta, Arche. Iris had seen him during the ceremony before, but didn’t pay close attention to him.

In total, there were twelve of them and they sat down around the large table that could accommodate them all, surrounded by bookshelves. There was no fire on the fireplace, because it was already early summer and it was rather warm at night.

"About what happened..." Elder Xarex started this meeting, but Lu cut him off.

"Oh, shut your mouth. After the display of your stupidity, you still have the audacity to speak?"

Cane might have the patient to wait and observe first before he took action, he would take his time to scheme his way, but Lu was not really fond of such method. It was wasting his time, his energy, his patient and his braincells to let these old hags to speak.

Lu was not going to listen to them, if anything, they should be the one, who listened to him.

"What happened is, you were helping Decratic to get rid of me, thinking so highly of yourself that you can wield the sword, even though you already learned about how Na left this sword to me and only one person can wield it."

When Lu talked about the sword, his red eyes fixed on Elder Rose, who was forced to stare at her fingers.

"You almost ruined everything and got yourself killed, not like I will complain, I would love to end your unworthy lives myself if it was not for my mate threatened me that she will not speak to me again if I did so."

Iris wanted to facepalm herself. This lycan didn’t need to tell them about it, right?
