The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 838: CEZI’S SUSPICION

Chapter 838: CEZI’S SUSPICION

Whatever the narration that prince Kellan told him, Cezi was not convinced when he saw with his own eyes how these three little girls were. They didn’t look like a happy child, who received a good treatment from the prince.

However, it was a tricky situation to get them talking because Cezi didn’t have much time, as he was in hurry to join with the other warriors, but at the same time, he couldn’t force them to speak, or else, they would clamp up even more.

"Listen to me," Cezi said with urgency. "I am here to help you, but you need to tell me what is going on." Cezi glanced at the entrance of the tent, worried someone would step in and find him here. "Nod your head if prince Kellan has been treating you badly."

The three of them stared at him with fear in their eyes, they were crying silently and when there was no answer from them, Cezi felt frustrated. He couldn’t stay a little bit longer now.

"It’s okay if you don’t want to explain to me, but let me know if the prince has been treating you badly," Cezi asked one more time. "I am here to help, not to hurt you." And when they refused to do anything, only stared at him, he decided to give up for now. He just started with his investigation, he didn’t want prince Kellan caught a wind of this.

However, when he stood up and was about to leave, one of the little girls rushed toward him and tugged his sleeve, stopped him from leaving.

Slowly, with fear still plagued her beautiful eyes, she nodded and then rushed back to the other two girls, huddled themselves at the corner.

It was a small gesture, but that was enough to convince Cezi that prince Kellan was not as decent as he showed it to the other people.

He balled his fists and then left the tent without anyone noticed it, pretending like nothing happened when he met with prince Kellan to start the battle against Red Claw pack, who had been hiding in Diandem pack all this time.

"Are you ready?" prince Kellan asked Cezi and alpha Derick, who were standing on his left and right side. Both of them nodded and the prince roared to the rest of the warriors. "ATTACK!"

================================

Cane let them tried to kill the monsters, but it was not easy to kill them, especially when there were not many monsters attack in their continent.

They needed at least, fifteen knights to handle one Vermeyes, meanwhile, there were around ten Vermeyes there. For shifter like them, hey only needed two or three of them to deal with this monster, which showed the difference of strength.

"If they are going to kill all the monsters before they entered the pack house, I think they will only step in after a week," Lou complained to Liam, while watching Cedric, who tried to convince the elders that the monsters were not dangerous. They had been tamed. "This is wasting my time, I would rather have sex with my woman than to watch a bunch of stubborn decrepit."

Lou was true to his word, he waved his hand toward Sabian and Nala, who was still staring at the alpha from the distance, telling them they would go back to the pack house. Nala wanted to complain, but she clamped her mouth, from the corner of her eyes, she could see Kian glanced at her direction and immediately followed Lou and Sabian.

Her relationship and Kian was ambiguous, it couldn’t be said they were in a good term, but definitely she was not satisfied with the way Kian stuck with Iris and had never spilled anything important about his luna to her.

Nala felt she was wasting her time and her body to get nothing in return.

"Cane, don’t you want to do something? What are we waiting here for?" Redmond and Ethan started complaining as well, they looked annoyed. Their first impression toward these four elders was the same like a nightmare.

However, instead of heeding their protest, Cane turned toward Iris and asked her instead. "Are you tired? Do you want to sit down?"

Redmond and Ethan looked at each other and scrunched their noses. It was them, who had been complaining, but why the luna was the one, who got to be asked?

"I am fine," Iris smiled at Cane. She knew why Cane let this situation, it was because he wanted to feel these newly came knights, especially the four elders. Cane used this moment to observe them, so did Iris. She started to pick up his habit too.

And with that, Iris moved closer to Abby, who didn’t do anything. If the whole Holy Kingdom centered in Serafim’s power, it meant, Abby had the same strength like those four elders, if anything those four elders should be the one, who listened to the Serafim.

But, what Iris saw was how timid Abby was, it reminded her when she was still with her father and brother, the vibe Iris felt when Abby stared at the four elders was a mixed of fear and hopelessness.

"Don’t you want to go and stop them?" Iris asked Abby. She wondered whether she had taken the potion or not, or whether she was still pregnant.

Abby and Liam didn’t stand too close, it felt like there was a distance between them.

"They hold the higher decision maker in the Holy Kingdom." Abby sounded cold when she said that, she watched how Cedric was being scolded for letting the monsters to live when he had weeks to kill them all.

"I thought your word is equal with them, you are the Serafim after all." Iris tried to feel the dynamic within the Holy Kingdom and where exactly the Serafim’s position was.

Abby didn’t answer that, but her silence made Iris think her guess was right. From the corner of her eyes, he saw Cane was talking something with Jace and the beta came to approach the elder and Cedric to talk about something in low voice, which made their expression turned furious and they directed their anger toward Cane.

Iris returned to her mate’s side and whispered to him. "What are you saying to Jace to provoke them?"

"I told them to enter the pack now or they can return to their kingdom and take the Serafim along with them. They are wasting everyone’s time here," Cane said, which made Iris raised her brows.

"I thought you are going to play safe with them," Iris asked him.

"The change of plan, since we didn’t expect to see the four elders here too." Cane accepted their angry glare and didn’t even flinch at all, as he kept talking with Iris, ignoring them. "If we folded now, they would step on us more in the future. They need to understand that respect is something you should earn, not demand."

"Well, I like that," Redmond muttered.

In the end, the four elders let the monsters, which were still loitering around the fortress and led their knights to enter the pack.

Actually, after so many weeks they spent with these monsters, most of the warriors and the knights didn’t bother by them anymore.

"Alpha Cane, luna Iris," one of the elders greeted Cane. His eyes widened when his gaze fell on Iris and for a moment, he couldn’t utter a word, as he was stunned, so did the other three elders.

This was the reaction that Cane wanted to know. He knew many people said something along the line of how his mate looked very similar with the Serafim, as if the two of them were siblings. Therefore, it was very important for Cane to catch their first reaction when they saw Iris.

"Sir Xarex," Cane greeted him in the same way, while Iris nodded at them politely.

Xarex was the head of the elders and even though he was no longer young, but you could feel how he could be very intimidating. His back was still ramrod and his expression was hard, with a pair of sharp eyes and white hair, he looked like a war veteran instead of someone, who spent his time inside a library and discerning a scripture or two in his day to day life.

"The monsters are filthy creatures, you shouldn’t let them live," Xarex spoke to Abby now, he was still sitting on his horse, but he would occasionally glance at Iris.

He had heard about what this luna could do and he wanted to know more detail about her and meet her in person, but he was still shocked to see the close similarity between Iris and Abby. They were like siblings.

Their resemblance looked very eerie.

"They don’t attack us. They are there to protect the fortress from the enemy," Abby replied, she straightened her back, but it was clear to see that she was not comfortable with this confrontation.

Xarex narrowed his eyes, but he didn’t continue with this argumentation. "Let’s all of us get inside, there are a lot of things to be discussed and I heard a few things that’s hard to believe, so I want to confirm it."

The elders were still sitting on their horses, thus when Xarex talked, he looked down on them, asserting his dominance, but even when Cane was in lower position, you wouldn’t be able to shake off his strong presence.

"At the very least, he should get down from his high horse to greet us, what the hell with these people?" Redmond hissed viciously, he was annoyed beyond word, he glanced at the alpha, but it didn’t seem like Cane was going to do something about this.

Ethan was not happy as well, he folded his arms in front of his chest and glared at the elders secretly.

However, Cane acted nonchalant by the way they disrespected him and simply turned around and helped Iris to get into the carriage and then came inside also.

Abby got into her carriage too and the alpha’s carriage led the way toward the pack house, where some people had waited for them in the pack house and escorted the elders to their respective room and the knights to their quarters.

They were going to have a meeting after lunch together, which meant, there was still two hours before they would have a long discussion and Cane insisted for Iris to take a rest, since she would be there too.

"You need to rest too, you know..." Iris sighed deeply, her heart ached to see how Cane was barely having time to rest and when thing around them didn’t seem to be calmed down soon, it could only mean, her mate wouldn’t have enough rest in the future.

Iris pushed him down to the bed, but he pulled her with him, so she fell on top of him, as he started to kiss her neck, but this was not the rest she wanted. This was not rest at all!

"No, Cane..." Iris tried to move away from him, but he kept her close. "Cane. No." This time, she said it more firmly, which made Cane stopped his action. "I want you to rest."

Iris then wriggled her body and moved to sit down, she pulled his head to rest on her lap, as she started to massage his temple.

"I am not good with this, but I think it will help you to relax," Iris said. She wanted him to relax for a bit. His body was very tensed.

"I am fine, you will be tired..."

"Sst..." Iris cut him off. "Just close your eyes okay."

"I will not sleep knowing you tired yourself, Iris," Cane said, but he closed his eyes because she asked him to do so.

"Do you want me to tell you story?"

"I am not Lu."

But, a moment later, Iris could feel his body relax and his breathing was even.
