Chapter 767: THEIR WORLD COLLAPSED (8)

Despite all the turmoil that was going on and how important the time was for the alpha to do everything quickly and efficiently, he still spent half an hour stood in front of a closed door to a certain room. He stared at the door with impassive expression. One couldn’t have guessed the depth of his thought by this time.

Even after he took his time to gather his courage and finally opened the door, the alpha didn’t immediately go inside. He stared inside. It was only a normal room. Fire in the fireplace ward off the cold and gave some light in this gloomy room.

But the alpha Eyes fixed on the cot in the middle. He stared for a good ten minutes before he found extra strength to walk inside and faced the reality.

Inside the cot was his baby. His lovely baby. His dearest little one. His steps were slow and heavy, as if he had to go through thousand of blade under his feet if he wanted to come closer to his daughter.

They had not yet really healed from their first lost, but now in less than a month, they had to go through the same agony again. The pain and misery were inconceivable.

Cane remembered his little pray every time he kissed his mate and their babies, even when they were still in their mother’s tummy, but there was nothing worked. He still lost them and he was on the verge of losing his mate too.

Cane had seen so many women lost their mind after losing their baby and Iris was walking in the same path right now. He wanted to do the same, maybe only then he could feel a little bit better, because the burdened and responsibility on his shoulders was too much, the weight almost crushed him.

Cane balled his fists when he finally caught a sight of his little angel. She was sleeping. He hoped she was only sleeping. He gripped the cot tightly, because he felt like he was going to lose his balance, his legs were so weak and he was alone now.

When they lost Crystal, he had Iris by his side and he had to be strong for both of them, but right now he was alone, inside this quiet room with his dead baby.

"I am sorry, I failed you..." That was the only thing that he could say to his daughter before he stretched his arms and gathered his strength to pick her up. The baby was cold and heavy in his arms. It felt not right.

But then, there was nothing right at this point.

With that, Cane walked out of the bedroom with his baby.

People tried to follow him when they saw their alpha with the baby, they were crying silently and mourning for him, but Cane dismissed them all, as he walked toward the pack gates.

Warriors were having their final preparation for their journey to the Blue Moon pack, but Cane didn’t see any holy knights there. Probably they chose to scram rather than to share the information about their holy kingdom.

Cane couldn’t care less about such detail. He walked toward Goffa mountain. The fire had been put off after hard effort of the warriors and the magic users from the Holy Kingdom, at the very least, they were not completely useless.

This time, there was no funeral for baby Rora, seeing the situation and their current condition, there was not enough time. Therefore, the only thing Cane could do was to carry his baby and bury her near the burial ground, though the place had been destroyed.

Maybe, after everything came to end, he could come here again and gave a proper burial for his daughter with Iris.

Behind him, keeping a safe distance, Dean and Pax followed the alpha. They were his personal warriors after all, they couldn’t let their alpha walked alone in the mountain.

But to their surprise, all the Holy Knights were there, they tried to fix the burial ground, though their effort didn’t make any different, but it was enough for Cane to give a better resting place for Rora.

"Alpha Cane, I am sorry for your lost," the Serafim said genuinely, she approached Cane. "This is the only thing we can do to help, as a gesture of our good faith and our cooperation together. We are willing to share the information."

Liam and Cedric didn’t like the idea, so did the other three of her personal knights, but Abby was the Serafim and she held the final say in this matter. After all, she had told Iris in private, albeit she was not sure whether the luna had told the alpha or not.

"I will ask someone to make a proper burial..."

Abby had not yet finished her words when Cane cut him off. "There is no need." He walked past her and then took off his cloak to be put on the ground. There was no snow and the ground was black after fire, but it was still rather cold.

After Cane laid his cloak on the ground, he put baby Rora and started digging a hole near the rubbles of the tomb’s entrance. The knights had helped to tidy the place a little bit, though there was nothing much they could do either.

Meanwhile, the Serafim and all the Knights didn’t do anything, Dean and Pax didn’t come forward to help either, because there was a tacit understanding in the air that the alpha needed this more than anything.

After Cane had dug deep enough, he wrapped Rora’s small body with his cloak and rested her at the bottom of it. He stared at the bundle for a long time before he buried her there. It almost felt like he left half of himself, it felt like he buried a big part of himself there too.

Cane was not sure how he could pull himself to go through with this until the end, he put a big rock above it as a remark and when he was done, Abby came to her and crouched down next to him.

She used her power to crave Rora’s name on the big rock, that was the best she could do for Cane.

"Thank you." His voice was still cold and his facial expression was still the same, making you questioned yourself whether he was really grieving the lost of his daughter or not.

But, it was only Cane and Iris, who understood the dept of their bereavement.

"I am sorry for you lost," Abby offered her condolence, but Cane simply stood up and stared to walk away. He didn’t stay for a second longer there.

"Alpha Cane. We agreed to cooperate with you. I will answer all of your question." Abby stood up as well, she could feel Liam and Cedric’s disagreement when she said that, but she didn’t heed that this time. If the Holy Kingdom was going to punish her for this. So be it. They wouldn’t survive, neither they would be able to beat Decratic without the help of alpha Cane.

Actually, Cane was betting on this. Eventually, Abby would yield to his demand, because of the pressure he put, but right now, he was not in the mood to talk.

"Can you ward off the crows on our way to the Blue Moon pack?" Cane asked, there was no emotions in his voice, even when he just buried his daughter a moment ago. He was all business.

"Yes, I can." Abby knew her power wouldn’t be as powerful as Iris, but if she gave it her all, she would pull it through.

Cane nodded. "Let’s talk after we arrived at the Blue Moon pack."

After saying that, Cane left and Dean and Pax followed after him. The two of them didn’t say anything, they were akin to the alpha’s shadows and when they arrived at the pack gates, Cane found Nolan and Gallot had lost their consciousness. His eyes darkened.

"Wake them up!" Cane barked. Who said they could fall asleep?

"Alpha, they are going to die if we kept torturing them..." A warrior came to Cane to explain, but the alpha had none of it.

"Call Grace and keep them alive. I want them to be tied behind a carriage on our way to the Blue Moon pack. I want them to wake up." Cane wouldn’t give them his precious time only to torture them, but he used to do two to three things at the same time. That was his strong trait.

"Y- yes, yes alpha." The warrior immediately scurried away to find the healer, to keep these two alive.

Ethan, who saw Cane just came immediately approached him, but before he could speak, the alpha had beat him into it.

"Are the preparations complete?"

"Yes, we can leave in an hour."

"Bring Aria’s head too."

Ethan wanted to cry. He didn’t want to be near that screaming box. He felt goosebumps crawled on his skin.

"Cane, Koda wanted to talk with you," Ethan informed him. "There is something he wanted to discuss."

"Tell him, unless he can take control of the Red Claw pack and have his own warriors to help, he doesn’t have any right to make a demand here."

With that, they were going to the Blue Moon pack and at the same time, alpha Derick led his warriors to join Kellan’s party in Diandem pack, where alpha Colter and his warriors was on their wits end. If this kept going on, they would need to surrender to Kellan.
