Chapter 766: THEIR WORLD COLLAPSED (7)

"She is not my baby," Iris remarked after she saw the baby in Cane’s arms. "Where is my baby? Cane, where is our babies? This one is not Rora." Iris was silent for a while before she looked around her. "Cane, we have two babies, but why there is only one? Where are our babies?"

Cane felt there was someone stabbed him with a dull knife. His feelings were threatened to come out in a big wave, but he suppressed it, because there was nothing he could do but not to let himself fell apart.

"They are sleeping in the nursery room," Cane said gently and tugged her sleeves. "Go back to the bed, okay? If you are sick again, you will not be able to breastfeed our babies."

Iris stared at him and then the baby in his arms and then at him again. She pursed her lips, but then looked around again.

"Iris," Cane called her softly. "Let’s go, you must be tired." He stood up, in one arm, he was holding the baby and he stretched his other hand to help Iris to stand up and walk her to the bed.

"I am not," Iris said, she shook her head and then stared at baby Adelle again for a long time, but she followed Cane to the bed and sat there. "No, I think this is my baby." Iris stretched out her hands, asking for her baby again. "I want my baby."

Cane kissed her temple, his breathing labored. "The baby is still crying, I think she is hungry, but you can’t breastfeed her, remember? Grace told you not to breastfeed our baby for a while."

Iris was silent again. She stared at the crying baby, Adelle was no longer screaming, but tears still kept flowing from her eyes. As if she didn’t care, she laid down on the bed with her back against Cane, falling asleep so fast due to exhaustion.

Once Iris was calm enough and Cane was sure she had fallen asleep, he went out to give the baby to Della, by that time, the baby in his arms was already sleeping as well.

Della immediately took her baby carefully and thanked Cane.

"Don’t let her to be alone." Cane talked to Aliana and Hanna, they nodded with that instruction. "Prepared yourself, we are leaving this evening. You too Amee."

Cane planned to bring Iris with him too. No one was safe right now, in that case, he would prefer for her to be within his sight. This time, he would take Aliana, Hanna and Amee. The three of them were the people that Iris comfortable with. He didn’t want her to be alone when he was not by her side.

Amee was surprised when she came along too, but also pleased because the alpha considered her helpful. This was an honor for her.

After giving the order, Cane walked away toward his study room. They were leaving tonight, so they needed to hasten the preparation, but before that, there were a lot of things Cane had to take care of.

When Cane was in the study room, Redmond, Ethan and Jace were already there. They had been waiting for him.

"Speak," Cane said. He sat on his seat and the three of them were standing in front of him.

While they were waiting, Ethan filled Redmond in about what had transpired inside the pack in more detail, including how Iris lost their second daughter and currently, she was not in a good condition mentally.

Redmond said nothing, it was a rarity for him not to run his mouth. He looked upset to hear what Iris had gone through.

"They are planning to have warriors from the Celestial Moon pack to march toward the south. The warrior will be led by alpha Derick and helped Kellan to conquer Diandem pack, where alpha Colter took as his base after he fled from Aggeverya road during the first attack."

"Kellan?" Ethan furrowed his brows. "How can he lead the warriors when he can’t even walk?" This was inconceivable for the gamma to imagine the prince led the army from his wheelchair. More so, wasn’t prince Kellan was on their side?

Redmond dropped a shocking revelation. "He can." At first, he didn’t believe it too. "I don’t know how, but he can."

Ethan and Jace looked at each other and then at their alpha, waiting for his reaction. They wanted to say that was impossible, but there were a lot of impossible things had happened nowadays.

"Have you ever seen him shifted into his beast?" The question that came from Cane’s mouth was not something they expected.

"No." Redmond thought about it for a while. Now he thought about it again, prince Kellan had never been in the front line whenever they attacked a pack, neither he would shift into his beast during the training. Redmond told them as much. "But, I can be wrong, after all, I am not with him all the time." He still took precaution, just in case they took wrong conclusion from his information.

Cane remained mute, they couldn’t guess what was in his mind right now, while Redmond told him about anything that he knew.

By the time this meeting had ended, someone knocked on the door, it was Koda. They almost forgot about this cowardice shifter.

During their face off, he was nowhere to be seen. As it turned out, it was not a battle at all, but instead a massacre. Truthfully speaking, they wouldn’t have a chance to win the battle if it was not for Cane’s cunning scheme and Redmond’s loyalty for sticking up to the plan.

"I want to talk with Redmond, you can ask him what he wanted." Cane didn’t want to talk with Koda. That man disgusted him. He didn’t have much patient and energy to be spared, therefore he didn’t want to waste it on unimportant people. Cane took this war with Decratic into his own hands. "Tell the same thing to people from the Holy Kingdom. If they don’t agree, they can scram!"

Ethan and Jace lowered their head. They could feel Cane’s rage. Of course, he would feel rightly so. Now, those people burdened them only.

After Ethan and Jace left the room, Cane had a private conversation with Redmond.

"How confidence you can lead Blue Moon pack’s former warriors?" Cane didn’t waste time for pleasantries conversation, as he talked straight to the point.

If the people from the Holy Kingdom still obstinate with their stance, it meant, they couldn’t expect any help from them and it would reduce their number without the knights, but Cane didn’t people, who couldn’t cooperate. There was a danger in it for letting them join in his rank.

"It has been a while since the last time I met with them. I need some time to assert my leadership on them again." Redmond told Cane the truth.

"I will give you three days." Cane stood up and walked toward the window, staring at the bleak sky that had turned dark. "We don’t have much time."

Redmond wanted to argue that three days was a very short time, but he also knew they didn’t have much time. "I will try my best."

"Hm, you can leave."

And with that the conversation ended, but Redmond stayed there. It was not only Cane, who had question, but he did too. "What about Sofia and my child?" he felt bad to talk about his son when Cane was mourning his own child, but he wanted a definitive answer from him. After all, he had done everything he told him to do, at the very least, he deserved this.

"They are in the Riverside pack, Trion is protecting them, but because of the crows, we can’t exchange letter. We don’t know what happened there." Cane didn’t sugarcoat his news to make Redmond at ease. Because there was a risk something bad happened to Sofia and his son, but he had done his best to protect them.

Cane couldn’t bring Sofia back to the Howling Wolf pack, so he arranged for her to live in the Riverside pack with Trion to protect her and the baby.

Redmond wanted to blow up, but it was very upsetting that he understood the gravity of the situation. "I can convince the former warrior in the Blue Moon pack, you can go directly to the Riverside pack." With that, he could ensure Sofia and their baby’s safety.

"You can’t go alone to the Blue Moon pack. The crows will eat you alive." Cane would have the same suggestion if it was not for this one trouble. The crows. His warriors spotted the crows in the sky, though the flock didn’t move toward their direction.

In the end, they settled with Cane’s suggestion.

When Cane went out, Jace and Ethan immediately approached him, they wanted to deliver a few information, but the alpha simply raised his hand and said curtly. "Later." After that, he strode away.

Cane walked toward one specific room, which Grace had told him and saw the healer was there, as if she had been waiting for her.

Among all the things he had done today, this must be the hardest.

"She is inside, alpha. Do you want me to take her for you?" Grace asked politely.

"No." Cane was going to take her on his own, despite how heavy his steps were. "You can leave."

Grace nodded and then walked away, but she turned around to see the alpha was standing in front of the door for a long time.
