Chapter 746: THE LOCKDOWN (2)
Nala returned and immediately informed Lou of what happened, at the same time a warrior informed Zephyr about it too.
"We need to go to the main hall!" Nala looked panic because she saw it with her own eyes how the sky had turned dark with the countless crows. They didn’t know what those crows could do, but whatever it was, it wouldn’t be something good.
"You go," Lou said nonchalantly, as he watched Zephyr and the other warriors escorted Iris out of the room. The merchant followed them, while Nala couldn’t help, but felt this grievance in her heart because even at time like this Lou’s priority was still Iris!
Why he cared so much about her?! She couldn’t understand!
Meanwhile, Iris and Abby, escorted by their respective warriors and knights went out of the room, where they could see what actually was going on in the distance. They were on the third floor, thus they could see rather clearly of how the west sky was a little bit darker and this darkness was actually moving, coming closer to them.
"What is that?" Abby asked to no one in particularly, they stopped to watch this through the glass, standing at the corridor, while commotion could be heard from the floors below.
"Cursed creature," Iris said. This was what she felt. Their number was magnanimous for her to be able to sense them even though they were still so far away.
The sky was bleak, the light from the sun was so weak in this winter, the wind was still chill, but Iris was grateful this coldness didn’t really bother her anymore. The only profound emotion that she currently felt was; exhaustion.
Abby glanced at Iris, she balled her fists to control her anger. How Iris was able to tell that when she couldn’t?
Iris was really tired to face Abby’s enmity, thus she touched her shoulder and pointed her finger at the people, who were in rush to enter the pack house in order to get a shelter from the upcoming danger.
"Look." Iris made Abby followed her finger and watched the people. The children, the elderly, the warriors and knights, who were going to protect them, even though they knew they would lose their lives in the process. "Those people will be dead if you kept up with your stubbornness and their blood will be on your hands." Her tone was light and Iris talked as if she wanted to tell Abby what kind of dinner she wanted for tonight.
If Ethan were there, he would be able to tell from whom Iris quoted the threat.
"Don’t you dare to talk like that to the Serafim!" Liam snarled at Iris, but Zephyr growled at him.
"If you don’t want her to tell you what to do, maybe you can start by doing what you need to do without being told!" Lou snapped back at Liam. He moved forward and shield Iris behind his back, as he met Liam’s angry glare. He glanced at the crest on his sword and was bewildered because his birthmark, indeed had the same shape like that.
Lou had asked Sabian to draw it and that was the first time he learned the shape of his birthmark, since he couldn’t care less about such trivial thing.
Now he wondered, how it could be?
"Enough!" Abby said through her gritted teeth when Liam was about to growl back at Lou. "We need to go now!"
Abby didn’t give the answer for Iris’s question when she asked about how to destroy Decratic, but she prevented a fight between her knights and the merchant. She left first. Her expression was ashen, she had a lot of things to be considered.
========================
"Take care of them, okay?" Joel said to Zale, as he gathered them in one spot inside the main hall. "They are your responsibility now."
Zale furrowed his brows. He looked at Ezra, who was still hugging Lil Thing, Celia, who was curling her body against Haco and then Joyce and Leena.
"No, there are a lot of them, I only wanted to protect the luna!" Zale complained. How could a half trained, young boy like him could protect five people and one unconscious beast?
Joel had gotten used with Zale’s rebel. "You are helping the luna too by protecting them, you know very well how the luna cherishes her people. She will be sad if something happened to them."
Zale was not happy, but he stopped complaining, with that Joel left them, he shifted into his beast and joined the other warriors to protect their people.
Meanwhile, people poured into the main hall, they looked terrified, the children from the orphanage huddled together in one spot, Will, Hanna and Aliana looked after them, making sure no one left behind, since they knew the children better than anyone else.
On the other side, Grace was trying to explain to a a warrior to get her medicine, but the warrior was having a hard time to know what kind of medicine she wanted, since he was not familiar with it.
"Give me the baby, I will look after her, you go with the warrior and get the medicine." Kaz stretched out his arms, Maria was by his side, as she stared at the baby expectantly. This was the first time for them to see the baby because they were not allowed to come closer to the pack house after the funeral.
Grace looked hesitated, she looked around and Hanna and Aliana were busy, but she needed the medicine for Rora too, so it was very important.
"What are you thinking of? Give me the baby and do what you need to do, the medicine must be very important, right?" Kaz persisted.
"Grace, you will not think that we will harm the baby, right?" Maria chimed in, she sounded pitiful. "You know how much we love alpha Cane and wish him nothing, but all the happiness in the world, do you really think we will harm his daughter?"
Once again Grace looked around and reluctantly, she handed the sleeping Rora to Kaz. "Only until I return you need to make sure not to do anything stupid."
Kaz and Maria looked hurt. "We will rather lose our life than to harm her. How cruel you thought we are if you assumed we are going to harm the baby?" Maria said sadly.
In a way, it indeed made sense, because they were the one, who were very excited with the alpha’s offspring.
"Stay there and don’t go anywhere!" Grace said before she left with the warrior, leaving baby Rora with Maria and Kaz.
Once Grace had left and no one were busy with their own task, and no one paid close attention to them, Maria crept closer to Kaz and spoke in low voice.
"Do you think she has the golden eyes?" Maria asked, she stared at the sleeping baby. "We need to make sure the alpha is not being fooled again."
"Yes, I think it will be fine." Kaz looked hesitated, but in the end, he opened the baby’s eyelids carefully to see whether her eyes were golden or not, which made Rora cried because she felt uncomfortable.
