Chapter 722: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (64)
The magic users dropped to their knees when they managed to kill all the monsters, burned them into ashes and automatically got them out of this dangerous situation. The feeling of relief flooded in their system.
On the other hand, Abby almost fell to her knees too if it was not for Liam, who caught her limp body. The Sylph had disappeared because they had managed to achieve their goal. More so, Abby didn’t think she could sustain the air spirit longer than this.
Yes, she did not pass out like last time, but it didn’t mean she felt good either, her head was spinning.
"Come here, sit here. You have done a great job, Abby," Liam whispered to her ear, as he carried Abby in his arms and sat her down on a big rock, letting her to lean against his shoulder.
"Thank you," Abby said softly. She felt good to hear someone appreciated her effort, because a praise came to her very seldom, she didn’t even remember when the last time she heard someone praised her for what she had done or what she had achieved, since she had never felt, she ever achieved anything.
Aside from her knights and people, who didn’t know her and saw her as a Serafim only, Abby didn’t think people in the Holy Kingdom was proud of her. She used to disappoint them and they didn’t even try to find a nice word when they voice this out.
However, this calm and the feeling of relief didn’t last for long.
When everyone thought everything was already over and they would be able to catch their breath, they would realize it was only the beginning.
The shield of protection had been dropped and the warriors and knights were ready to go out from here, to comb this area, just in case they found another monster that managed to escape. They also needed to see the other shelter and prayed there was no damage that was happening there.
Yet, before they could do as they had planned, all of sudden a portal was opened once again, this time, it opened right above the formation of two hundred magic users, who were still sitting on the ground, relinquished their exhaustion, thus they didn’t expect this to happen, especially when this portal was very close to them.
And before they could react, a big foot appeared and crushed four of them, blood sprayed everywhere, followed by screams, as fear grasped their reality one more time to see a creature in monstrous size.
"Nefilim..." Abby breathed the name of the creature before her eyes. She couldn’t believe she would witness a living Nefilim in her life.
Nefilim was a creature that was extinct five hundred years ago when the first Serafim fought Decratic. All Nefilim were being hunted, along with the worshiper, Decratic’s loyal follower.
Abby learned about this creature from a literature and was being taught by the previous Serafim about this. Still, this creature was only a literature in Abby’s mind, until a second ago.
The creature that supposed to be extinct five hundred years ago, appeared before their eyes, very much alive!
"No... there is no way..."
Nefilim was a barbaric, they were even more brutal and cruel than those Savages, but with the size of ten times of those savages. Their height could reach ten to fifteen meters. They were aggressive and destructible creature, not to mention they were also cannibal, as they would eat anything they could find.
"Ah!" Abby turned her head when she witnessed the Nefilim caught one of the magic users and bit him off, munching on his upper body and tossed his remaining.
Nefilim was very strong and their skin was very thick, it would be hard to take them down and one more thing that gave them dread was the fact not all magic could work on them.
One Nefilim was enough to create unimaginable damage, let alone two or three, but right now there were five of them.
"Close the portal! Close the portal!"
There were a lot of shouts, a lot of screams and a lot of vicious growls filled the crisp, cold air, while white snow fell from the dark sky. Torches were extinguished and luminous pearls were being crushed, leaving them in the dark.
People were running for their lives, the pack member shifted into their beast and the warriors and knights tried their absolute hardest to take down these monsters. But, it was clear to see it was not an easy feat.
Around two hundred magic users were crushed and scattered within a blink of an eye, once the Nefilim filled this area.
Their magic stones were not enough to cause damage on this Nefilim, since they had never faced one before. This monster was a myth from the ancient times when the first Serafim still lived. The first monster that she wiped out, since they were easily controlled by Decratic.
Meanwhile, Abby couldn’t summon the Sylph again because she didn’t have enough strength to do that and Liam immediately took her to runaway to the safety, while Cedric led the knights to fight the Nefilim to death.
Even so, their effort was pale in comparison to the result they wanted to achieve.
The sixth Nefilim stepped out from the portal and you could imagine what kind of destruction these giant monsters had caused and how many people had to meet their demise. This was frightening, blood sprayed on the cold ground and fear clutched their chest tightly, the air was so heavy.
The feeling of relief had evaporated in a mere second and their hope to survive was crushed.
A breath of an air came when the warriors and knights from the shelter in the east came to assist them, thinking to check on them to see what was going on, since the monsters came toward this direction and they heard loud sounds from here.
Still, it was not enough.
"What the hell with those monsters?! What is that?! Nefilim?! I thought they were only myth! What next?! A dragon?!" Lou kept cursing under his breath, as he helped Iris to runaway from this dangerous area. He reminded him again and again to at least have a dozen of magic stones in his pocket.
But then, Lou remembered Cane had destroyed the black market. Though, the magic stone mine was fine, since it connected to their escape route and he covered it with magic, so no one would be able to find it, except from him, but to get there would be pain in the ass!
"Don’t jinx!" Aliana growled at Lou. At this point, she believed everything.
Lou grumbled, but he stopped voicing out what he thought, still he didn’t stop cursing in his mind. "This will not do!" he saw how Iris was having a hard time to keep her pace, her face scrunched in pain, as she put her hands under her stomach. She breathed irregularly, as they tried to escape the mess.
Running away with them was Aderan, Della and their baby, also Tatiana, Amara, their younger brother and the children from the black market, while Eron and Dyne brought the rear, as they were in their beast form, trying to protect them, even though it looked an impossible task!
If thousand of knights and warriors couldn’t take down the Nefilim, what the two of them could do? But, they needed to do everything they could.
One of Nefilim managed to be taken down, but there were nine more of them, since this nightmare would never end, for as long as the portal was not close. They needed to take care of that first, but the problem was; most of the magic users were dead now!
Even if there were some of them, they didn’t have enough power to perform their magic.
"I- I can’t... I – can’t run anymore..." Iris stopped, she wanted to drop to her knees and hug herself, she felt this cramp on her stomach. She couldn’t take another step.
"No! No! You need to get up! Do you want to be a snack for those ugly monsters?!" What Lou was worried the most happened, Iris reached her limits and she didn’t have enough strength to even stand straight.
Aliana looked around, panic on her face. Not so far from them, there were barricades of knights and warriors, they tried to buy them some time to escape, but surely enough it wouldn’t last long.
The pack member that managed to escape, scattered to all direction, but most of them had died during the first attack. They were instructed to go to the other shelter, but it was doubtful whether they listened to this or not.
"Lou! Create the portal and get us out of here!" Aliana hissed to the merchant, so the other wouldn’t hear what she said. This was not the time for them to keep secret.
"How? Give me magic stones and I will take you out of this mess!" Lou also wanted to escape from this hellish situation, especially when he saw Iris was not in a good condition, but what he could do without magic stone? He was not a Serafim, who could have unlimited power to perform their magic.
"You are a magic user? You can create a portal?"
Lou and Aliana startled when they heard the Serafim’s voice, they didn’t even realize she and her knight had joined them and even listened to their conversation.
"I can summon the sylph and you must create a portal to get us out of here!"
Right at that time, Iris stood up.
