Chapter 721: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (63)

"What is happening? What is that thing behind luna Iris?"

"I think that kind of spirit, I heard a Serafim is a bridge between living being and spirit."

"And then why that spirit with the luna?"

"Maybe the Serafim lent it to her?"

"Yes, I think it worked like that."

People talked about the Sylphs that appeared with Iris, but right now the same spirit had returned to be by the Serafim’s side once the birthing process was completed safely and both mother and daughter were fine.

As a shifter, Della would recover quickly, her healing ability would make sure she would return to her normal health in a matter of a few hours and tomorrow she would be like usual, especially when Iris had helped with the healing process too.

Currently, the Sylphs returned to be by Abby’s side, while people assumed the Serafim was kind enough to help with the birthing process, but Abby and her five knights knew that was not the case, but it was not only them, who didn’t buy with people’s assumption.

However, in this moment, there was no time to dispute over that matter, because currently, they were surrounded by monster and even though the shield looked strong enough to hold them back, but the sight of thousand of monsters would easily make you forgot to breath.

Children were crying, people trembling and the warriors and knights were on their high alert, ready to have the most vicious fight once the protection was broken.

Cedric stood in the front, leading his knights, while beside him was a black beast, leading all the warriors, yet Koda was nowhere to be seen, though half of the warriors were the member of his pack. He put the responsibility on Cane completely to lead his own warrior.

"You don’t realize that, luna?" Aliana asked, she stared at Iris after she finished telling her what had happened when she helped with the delivery.

Iris shook her head. "No, I don’t." She was sitting next to Aliana, while staring at the monsters outside of the protection. She wondered how that could happen, but right now her curiosity was on the back of her mind because of how nervous she was.

She knew Cane would be in the front line and if the protection was broken... Iris didn’t even want to think of the possibility. At this moment, there was nothing they could do, but prayed there was no mishap in the Serafim’s plan.

"One more portal has closed!" a sorcerer announced it, as they managed to close another portal. "Four more to go!"

Aliana wanted to ask about what happened earlier again, but she clamped her mouth when she watched how scared Iris was, thus she held her hand to comfort her and stayed silent.

Aderan stayed behind to accompany his mate and their newborn baby daughter, while Ethan and the other had gone to the front line to be with their alpha and the other warriors.

Lou was sitting a little bit far from Iris, he had this impassive expression, he didn’t look approachable and no one wanted to sit close to him, but the merchant couldn’t care less about that. There were a lot of things going on in his mind to even notice that.

He couldn’t understand how Iris could do that and how? People whispered about the Serafim lent the air spirit to her, but Lou found that very ridiculous.

He saw the expression the Serafim had when the Sylph was with Iris, that was not the look that you would make if you knew what you were doing. The Serafim was in complete shock and she didn’t even try to hide it.

"One more portal has closed!" The same sorcerer in his white cloak announced it, as they managed to close another portal. "Three more to go!"

A few minutes later he announced the same thing.

"One more portal has closed! Two more to go!"

People held their breath when another announcement was made.

"One more portal has closed! One more to go!"

If they managed to close all the portal, the magic users could use their power to fight the monsters. It would be a tight fight, but with the Sylph to boast their power, they would have unlimited power to do their magic. As long as the Serafim could maintain the Sylph until the end, they would be fine.

People prayed for this nightmare to stop and even most of the children had stopped crying, they buried their face against their mother’s chest and sobbed softly, afraid to see the monsters.

Iris hugged her stomach, she felt her babies were kicking from inside, they might be able to sense her nervousness and worried for their father.

Cane, please be safe. Please, protect him...

That was the pray that Iris kept repeating in her heart like a charm. She held Aliana’s hand tightly, she was grateful Aliana was here.

Iris glanced at the baby in Della’s arms and watched the love in her eyes for her beautiful daughter. She imagined it was her, who held her own babies two months from now with Cane by her side. The thought of it gave her happiness and made her less anxious.

However, when Iris saw the little spirit wolf close to the baby, she wondered, why she couldn’t see her babies’ wolf spirit? If she could feel the other wolf spirit, even the unborn one, why she couldn’t feel her own babies’? Didn’t this work the same?

She even could feel Renee, Avid’s mate’s pregnancy, she knew she was pregnant, but she didn’t know about hers until Cane called Grace to check on her.

Iris caressed her stomach and her babies moved again.

"All the portal is closed!" the magic users announced it and everyone cheered happily, as they hugged each other.

Though they had not yet gone through their precarious situation, but at the very least, they had solved their main trouble.

The warriors and the knights looked visibly relief as well.

"You have done a great job, Serafim," Liam said to Abby. She managed to maintain the Sylph this far and stand strongly.

Abby sighed in relief too, but it had not done yet. There were thousand of monsters they had to deal with. She gritted her teeth and determined to give her all in this.

People cheered and their spirit was good because they managed to close all the portals. There would be no additional monsters they needed to fight off.

"We will be fine, luna!" Aliana said, tried to hype Iris up, because her face still looked worried, despite all the cheers around them.

Iris smiled, but said nothing. She caressed her stomach, her babies became very active and to feel their movement was comforting enough for Iris. She didn’t know why, but she felt very restless. Her heart thumped wildly, but she thought it was because she was worried about Cane. She wanted him to be with her here, just like what Aderan accompanied Della and their newborn.

Iris wanted his mate...

She couldn’t forsake this feeling.

Right before her eyes, people gawked when they saw the two hundred magic users created fire balls that they launched toward the monsters, burned them. But, the color of these fireballs was actually white, it was like white fire, if they could say.

Since the Sylph helped them to boast their magic, the color of their magic followed the spirit too.

Half of the monsters were dead, but the remaining monsters still tried to break the protection. Even after half of them died, their number still could bring danger and significant damage if the shield was broken.

A dozen Brinnetalons were dead in a single attack and countless goblin burned into ashes, Vermeyes, Deadeyes and many more monsters, in every second the air smelled like rotten meat, as the ashes of the monsters covered the ground. Snow started to fall and their spirit was so high despite how cold the weather was.

Aliana took off her cloak when she saw Iris hugged herself.

"No, I am fine, Aliana." Iris refused when Aliana put the cloak on her, but she insisted.

"You need this. Think about your babies. Just because you are not sick often anymore, it doesn’t mean you can be reckless with your health."

The moment Aliana brought her babies into consideration, Iris couldn’t retort and Aliana knew about that. She smiled triumphantly.

Aderan then came over and draped his own cloak on Aliana. He only nodded at the two of them and returned to his mate and their baby.

"They have gone through a lot." Aliana stared at the new family of three and could feel their warm and love, even in this nightmare.

Iris remembered more than a year ago when she found the two of them inside the library and learned their relationship. "You are right, they have gone through a lot to be together." Iris couldn’t imagine how desperate Aderan wanted to be with the queen when everything was against them.

However, here they were, having their moment together and dreamed of a family with their little one.

"They deserve happiness," Aliana said softly.

Iris squeezed her hands. "You also deserve happiness, Aliana."

Aliana turned her head and stared at Iris, she chuckled. "I know what you meant, luna. But, I don’t think I can see Ethan more than a brother."

"Maybe it’s because you don’t want to open your heart, Aliana."

Aliana smiled. "I don’t have heart to be offered to him, luna."

Iris wanted to talk, but horror filled her eyes when that ominous feeling returned.
