Chapter 659: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY

Chapter 659: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY

Thankfully, Arthur and Mal covered the children’s eyes, because what Lil Thing did next was something that would forever haunt the children. They might end up to fear the white bear if they witnessed this.

Arthur and Mal had never seen with their own eyes how ferocious Lil Thing could be, they only heard about it and thought those people were exaggerating, since they witnessed how silly the bear was and how gentle the creature with the little one. Not even once, it did something to harm the children, no matter what they did to it.

The children whimpered against Arthur and Mal with their eyes close, while Haco sat down on the ground, watching the whole thing, without any change on his expression whatsoever.

But, because of the commotion, there were more warriors came and Lil Thing wouldn’t be able to fight them all simultaneously without any help.

"We can’t stay here!" Arthur said, he looked around and currently, they were about to be surrounded. There would be no way for them to leave this place once it happened. "Get the children to the secret passageway and I will get the baby and Haco!"

Mal did what Arthur told him, he asked the children to close their eyes and keep it that way until he said otherwise, because he didn’t want them to see this horrendous sight.

Meanwhile, Arthur got the baby and grabbed Haco’s hand, forced the old sorcerer to stand up and ran. "Lil Thing, let’s go!"

Arthur tried to get the white bear’s attention, but it only glanced at him and let out a low growl, before it charged forward, where he had to fight ten to fifteen more beasts, which happily ripped every inch of its body, where they could get their fangs or claws of.

This was a hard decision, but he had no other choice, when Arthur turned around and left the white bear. He had the baby in his arm and this old sorcerer with him, he had to make sure they survived and get to the safe place.

"Where is Lil Thing?" Celia asked, because she heard its growls was getting further away. "Where is Lil Thing?" She opened her eyes and looked around, but she couldn’t find it, yet before they entered the forest, she caught a sight of it.

Lil Thing had around five beasts on its back, tried to chew it alive, while he fought more beasts, which tried to take it down.

"No! Lil Thing!" Celia cried, but Mal caught her hand and dragged her away.

"We need to leave!"

"I can’t believe I am in this kind of situation!" Nala hissed disdainfully.

Currently, Lou, Nala and Sabian were inside a water tunnel, as they were so desperate to find a way out from this stinky place.

Lou glared at Sabian, who stared at his own fingers timidly. "But, this is a perfect place..." he said in low voice.

And for the first time Lou and Nala were on the same page, as they replied to him angrily. "This is not!"

"I have never been in this nasty place!" Nala growled in frustration. She had never been so dirty like this, if you didn’t count being with so many men because they lusted her and became the previous king’s sex slave as one, then she indeed lived in luxury.

"Argh! My cloak! This is stinky!"

Sabian could only heave a deep sigh, in this matter, the two of them were very similar. They were very sophisticated to say the least.

No wonder, despite their bickering, they actually got along well.

"But, this smell will cover our scent from the shifters..." Sabian tried to defend himself, he felt very wronged by the two of them when he had tried his best to keep them alive.

He found this water tunnel when he roamed around the area and got down here once because of curiosity. He was actually surprised because this water tunnel was actually very well built, but he had not yet gotten a chance to explore. He only knew, it would lead them out of the pack house, since they couldn’t go to the two secret passageways, since those exits had been blocked.

"Shut up!" Lou and Nala shouted at Sabian, rendered the latter speechless.

"If you don’t run away, we have been out of this pack, you know..." Sabian grumbled under his breath.

"What did you say?" Lou narrowed his eyes at him, but Sabian immediately shook his head.

"No- nothing."

The three of them kept going, following the current water.

They were tired, hungry and stinky. The only thing that illuminated their path was the luminous pear in Sabian’s hands.

Tiring from bickering and complaining, Lou and Nala finally shut up and walked in low spirit.

Meanwhile Clad and Leros, who supposed to look for Lou, were being caught by the Winter Moon warriors and right now, they were sitting in the pack square, along with the other pack member of Diandem pack. They tried to keep lowkey, because once these warriors knew they were the member of Howling Wolf pack, they wouldn’t be treated so nicely, as to sit among people in the open area, while the rain poured down on them.

"Look," Leros said, he nudged Clad’s shoulder and nodded at his right side, where they could see four warriors dragged something big and placed it in front of them. "Is that... the white bear?"

Clad narrowed his eyes. "I think so." He frowned so hard when he saw the condition of that creature. It must have gone through the nastiest fight. "Is it... dead?"

============================

Black rain started pouring down again from the dark sky and Iris could hear the pitter patter of the water that hit the roof of the carriage she was in.

Iris hugged herself and covered her body with warm blanket, she couldn’t afford to get sick right now.

She needed to look after herself more carefully, but she missed Cane so bad. She wanted to hear how he was and how thing was in the battle field. She prayed so hard, everything would go as he had planned.

She promised herself to keep their baby safe, therefore, she stopped protesting to stay, because finally she understood that she was not only put herself at risk, but also their baby in danger.

Therefore, all she could do was to trust Cane’s judgment and didn’t burden him by worrying about her when there were a lot of things he needed to think and do right now. It was a critical moment.

Iris snapped back from her reverie when she heard the baby was crying softly and Sofia was woken up, she tried to calm her baby and breastfed him.

"What is his name?" Iris asked.

Aside from the two of them and the baby, there was Aliana, who was sleeping at the corner in sitting position. She looked very tired, while out there, Iris could see Joel, Zephyr, Eron and Dyne in their beast’s form, their beasts were a silhouette in this foggy black rain.

Meanwhile, Reed and Asher sat on the front, they controlled the horses, acted as a coachman. Kian and Otis were sitting at the back of the carriage.

"Rye," Sofia replied, her expression looked worried, as she checked on her baby. She still avoided Iris’s eyes.

"Beautiful name," Iris said. "It must be you, who gave him the name."

"No. It’s Redmond." Sofia blinked her eyes. She masked her worry for that man very well, even though every time she saw their baby, she prayed that he would be safe, though she didn’t want to admit it and she stared at her baby almost all the time.

"I am surprised he could come up with a beautiful name," Iris said.

"He suggested Redmond Junior at first," Sofia replied, her eyes slightly turned gentle when she talked about him.

It seemed there was this tacit understanding between them. Sofia knew Iris had already known about the father of her baby, since the very beginning and the reason why she was not informed earlier.

All the schemes and traps that those alphas had against one another was very sickening. In a way Sofia could understand that. She didn’t hold Jemma’s death over Iris’s head as well, because she realized she was not that sad about losing her anymore.

Probably, living as alpha Gallot’s mistress and witnessed countless servants like Jemma died, deep down, made Sofia accepted the servants were only good when they were useful, after that, other people could replace them, even though they had been together for years. Life was cruel and harsh for women in order to survive.

"I like Redmond Junior," Iris said and for the first time, Sofia lifted her head and gave her a disapproving look, but then she lowered her head again and stared at her baby, the little one was being fussy and refused to be breastfed.

"What happened?" Iris could see the concern in Sofia’s eyes.

"I think he gets fever," Sofia mumbled, she placed her hand over his head a few times and she was sure, her baby got fever. His body temperature was slightly warm than usual.

Unfortunately, Grace didn’t come with them, because the moment they got the signal to leave, someone had escorted Grace to the frontline, because her healing ability would be extremely demanded there.

"Come here, give me the baby. I think I can help." Iris stretched out her hand, but Sofia looked at her for the second times, this time a little bit longer. "You don’t really think I will harm the baby, right?" Iris frowned.

"I didn’t say that..." Sofia mumbled and lowered her head again, but she didn’t give the baby to Iris and she didn’t want to pursue the matter.

If Sofia wanted to give the baby and let Iris tried, she would give the little one to her, but if she didn’t believe Iris enough to hold the baby, it was fine with her.

The baby started crying now and no matter what Sofia did, there was nothing that could comfort him.

"What happened?" Aliana rubbed her eyes sleepily. "Why the baby is crying?" She stared at Rye worriedly. Afraid if the baby was injured or something.

"I don’t know." Sofia shook her head.

"Hungry?"

"I have tried to breastfeed him, but he doesn’t want and keep crying. I think he has a fever."

Aliana moved closer to Sofia and check on the baby. She was right, the baby was having a fever. "He has a fever," Aliana confirmed that.

This time, Sofia looked at Iris again and was hesitated when she spoke. "Can you... help my baby?" She felt very awkward to talk with Iris and Aliana frowned, because she didn’t show the respect Iris deserved after what she had done for her and the baby.

On the other hand, Iris didn’t care much about it, this was not the first time, her effort went unnoticed, she had handled the worst case of ungrateful people and what Sofia did, didn’t even touch the surface of it.

Iris stretched out her arms again to get the baby, this time, Sofia handed her son to the luna and Aliana had this conflicted feeling. Iris was too kind for her own good, but then she couldn’t hope for the luna to be petty when it came to an innocent baby.

Iris held the baby closed to her chest and she saw Redmond’s firstborn for the first time. He looked like the replica of his father, especially how they shared their red hair, seeing this, Iris wanted to chuckle, but then she let out her healing power. She had a good grip of her power now and could use it as she liked, the same thing like how she strangled the wolf spirit, she could do it as easy as breathing now.

However, the carriage suddenly stopped and they heard vicious growls from outside.
