The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 614: HE WANTED TO KILL HIM!

Chapter 614: HE WANTED TO KILL HIM!

Despite what alpha Nolan had warned him, to not show his affection toward his mate, Cane actually did the opposite. He didn’t change the way he treated Iris, neither he tried not to be affectionate with her in public.

Most of the people also already knew about the gift that he gave to his mate, though Iris didn’t wear a lot of accessories, she did wear a ring or necklace now. In the morning, she would rummage the chests and found something she liked to wear and she enjoyed it a lot.

"You don’t need to feel sorry, Nolan, because I don’t." Cane was sitting on the opposite seat from alpha Nolan in this long table in the dining hall.

Alpha Nolan shook his head. "I know you must be very upset right now, this is something that unforgiveable."

Hearing that, Cane tilted his head and shifted his attention from his mate, who was munching her meat happily, her appetite improved, she ate a lot more recently and it didn’t go unnoticed by him. Probably it was due to a lot of things they did during the night that caused her hunger in the morning.

"I don’t, Nolan." Cane’s voice was even and all the people fell into silence, they stopped eating and listened to the alpha’s conversation, because you could sense the tension started to rise up in the air, though a certain auburn hair woman was oblivious, as she relished her meal. "If you want to pity someone, take your pity to Gallot, because I will not let this slide."

Alpha Nolan smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes at all. "So, are you going to march toward Moon Dew pack and take him down? With these warriors from the six packs you have, you can easily take down his pack." His eyes glinted with cunningness. "I will be happy to assist you and I am sure the Red Claw pack will not refuse to do the same."

"I can handle my own affair, but thank you for the offer." Cane tucked a strand of Iris’s hair behind her ear, so it wouldn’t fall into her plate.

The sight made alpha Nolan scoffed. He was sure Cane did that to annoy him, as he was contradicting his advice. This time, he directed his words toward Iris, who had been staying out of their conversation ever since they entered the dining hall. Somehow, she had this strong dislike toward alpha Nolan.

"Luna Iris, you are very lucky that the baby is not the alpha, or else, you will not enjoy this treatment from him, if another woman gave birth to his firstborn." Alpha Nolan leaned his back against the backrest of his chair and smiled harmlessly. "You need to get pregnant quickly, or else, another pregnant woman will do the same thing."

Iris dropped her cutleries and glared at alpha Nolan. She looked extremely annoyed and it was out of character for her to act very hostile like this. The warriors stared at each other when they sensed how unhappy their luna was. It was also a surprised for them, since this was not the reaction, they expected from her.

"Then it will be stupid for the people to believe it easily, if the same thing happened again, even a blind people will not fall into the same hole."

All the warriors immediately averted their gazes, some of them lowered their heads in ashamed and most of them felt like they wanted to leave this dining hall, the feeling of embarrassment was very strong.

Iris’s answer was directed to alpha Nolan, but all of them felt like she was talking to them instead. The feeling of guilty ate them alive and yes, they felt stupid.

On the other hand, Cane looked relax, he watched with an amusement in his eyes. His timid mate had truly become bolder and bolder with each passing day.

"Of course, of course. It will be so stupid if another person will do the same method again." He nodded in agreement, as if he was on the same page like her. "But, you still need to give an heir for the pack, Cane is the last person in his family bloodline and you have the responsibility on it. If my daughter still alive, she would have given birth to Cane’s second child by now."

It was clear what alpha Nolan tried to implicate. He subtly compared Iris and Leana. The same method he used to put discord between Iris and Cane, creating a problem that was not there in the first place. His intention of doing that was still unclear, but whatever it was, he managed to make Iris upset.

Cane felt alpha Nolan had crossed the line too far by disrespecting his mate in such way, but before he could put him in his place, Iris already did it.

"You are very concern about this pack too much, alpha Nolan," Iris spoke before Cane could. "You are not even part of this pack, or do you want to pledge your loyalty to my mate?"

"Presumptuous!" Jax stood up from his seat, his face was so dark, as he held back his anger upon hearing what Iris said. He was alpha Nolan’s beta and came here with the alpha with the mission to take Iris to meet with the Serafim. "How dare you woman talk like that to the alpha!?"

What Iris said could be consider as an insult and for an alpha to pledge their loyalty to the other alpha, it could mean the pack had been defeated. The only time an alpha pledged loyalty was to the king and Cane was not a king... yet.

Shifter was an arrogant and proud creature by nature, thus for a shifter, they held their status so highly and to step down from it was akin to spit on their face. Based on that, what Iris said was extremely unacceptable, especially when she was a woman.

"Tone down your voice!" Ethan snarled, he stood up from his seat too. His claws emerged from the tips of his fingers, as he was ready to tear this beta apart. He had finished eating, his stomach was full and he had enough strength for a fight or two.

The gamma from the Howling Wolf pack had been buried by stressful tasks, thus to let off some steam by fighting off this insolent man before his eyes, it would be a great way to vent out his frustration toward his alpha for overworking him.

On the other hand, the warriors were growling at each other, as they were ready to shift into their beast and fought, seeing how things escalated so fast.

The seven warriors and Aliana stood close to their luna, they were ready to secure her once the fight broke, because at this point, it looked like that was what was going to happen.

On the other hand, the two alphas seemed unaffected by the vicious growls around them from their respective pack member.

Cane actually stretched out his hand and caressed Iris’s cheek, he stared gently at his angry mate, but the words he spoke was directed to alpha Nolan.

"Not your pack, not your business, Nolan. Step back." His voice was dark and filled with warning, though he didn’t raise his tone.

"How dare you!" Jax growled at Cane and Ethan kicked his chair, until the poor thing broke into pieces, he was ready to shift and the rest of the Howling Wolf pack would follow, taking that as a sign.

However, before the quiet and peaceful morning turned into bloody, alpha Nolan quickly deescalated the situation.

"Sit, Jax! Step back all of you!" alpha Nolan’s voice echoed throughout the dining hall. His warriors gritted their teeth, because they were being held back.

"Alpha!" Jax protested, but before he could speak, a harsh punch had landed on his face. He didn’t expect this, because the alpha had told them to step back, yet he should have known that Ethan didn’t give a shit about what his alpha said.

Jax’s body fell to the ground, as he spat a mouthful of blood. He shifted into his beast and was ready to attack Ethan, but the gamma had shifted into his beast first, he was so close to tear his neck apart and kill him right there and then.

The rest of the warriors were ready for a battle, as some of them had shifted into their beast.

"Enough!" Cane roared, which made all of them froze in their place, even the warrior from the Winter Moon pack stopped in their track when they felt this strong alpha’s voice from him, though Cane was not their alpha.

He stood up from his seat and glared to all the warriors inside the dining hall, the room fell into a depressing silence, before his dark eyes landed on his gamma.

However, Ethan used to disobey Cane in rare occasion, especially when anger had controlled his sense, it was so hard to reach to him.

"Ethan! Stop!" Cane used his alpha’s voice to suppress his gamma, this was the only method to get him back. "Step back and shift!"

The brown wolf whimpered, he was so close to end his opponent’s life, but this alpha’s voice bothered him so much.

"Step back and shift!" Cane repeated his order before Ethan could sunk his fangs on his opponent’s neck.

In the end, the brown wolf clawed the other beast’s face before he stepped back. His eyes filled with anger and dissatisfaction to see his opponent.

He wanted to kill him!
