Chapter 607: THE ENRAGED OF THE YOUNG WARRIOR

Chapter 607: THE ENRAGED OF THE YOUNG WARRIOR

By the time Cane approached Iris, she was with Lil Thing, thankfully alpha Nolan heed his warning and left her alone, at least for now, because it was easy to see that he would try again to find a way to talk with his mate.

"Is the bear dead?" Cane stared at the sleeping bear, this creature only lived to sleep, eat and play. Of course, he could tell the bear was sleeping, but one could wish, right?

"Cane, you are so mean," Iris complained, as she rubbed the spot where fur started to grow on Lil Thing’s wounds. "Lil Thing has helped us a lot, be nice to it, okay."

The seven warriors watched the interaction between them and they couldn’t help, but bewildered to see their alpha was actually being scolded.

On the other hand, Cane said nothing, he stared at the bear for a while and grabbed Iris’s elbow to help her stood up. "Walk with me," he said.

Iris followed him to walk toward the training ground, they needed to cross this area to reach the pack house, because currently they were in the warrior’s quarter.

The growling sounds and the barking of people could be heard in the distance, as almost all the warriors were fighting against each other, either in their beast form or in their human skin.

Most of them was the warrior from the Howling Wolf pack, Bloody Wolf pack and Diandem pack, but there were some warriors that Iris just saw for the first time, they must be the warriors from the Winter Moon pack, joining in the training.

Among these people and beasts, Iris could find Joel, he was fighting against a man bigger than him in their human skin. A crease appeared between Iris’s brows, as she halted her steps to watch. The look of worried on her face.

Noticing Iris stopped walking, Cane followed her line of sight and immediately knew what made her anxious.

"He has recovered well. He will be able to handle him." Cane put his hand on Iris’s back to ease her tense.

"It’s not fair. The man is obviously older and stronger than him. He just recovered, he shouldn’t have strained himself." Iris was upset because the match was not fair.

"Strength is important, but it’s not the only aspect to win a fight." Cane glanced at Iris, who gave him a disapproving look. "Watch and you will understand."

Iris wanted Cane to stop the fight, but they already started it. Somehow, she saw Joel as a little brother and became so attach with him. She didn’t want anything bad happened to that sweet young soldier. No, she didn’t want anything bad happened to the people she cared.

"Don’t do anything," Cane warned Iris, as if he could read what was in her mind right now.

"I will not," Iris replied defensively, but both of them knew that was questionable, since she was still weighing her decision if that burly man really did hurt Joel.

Not to far from them, Joel fought the man bravely, there was not an ounce of fear in his clear eyes, as he focused on his opponent. He looked calm and collected, as he dodged the attack. He didn’t fight back and the only time he did, he almost got his opponent and clawed the area around his neck.

The man was stronger than Joel, but the young warrior was way more agile than him. He moved and dodged with ease and attacked at the right time with wonderful precision.

Iris gasped and clutched her chest when Joel missed his opponent’s attack by a hair. The young warrior’s face was almost clawed and surely it would leave damage on him. It seemed, his opponent had become frustrated and now he was mad, his attack became even more lethal and it didn’t feel like a training anymore.

"You need to ask someone to stop this," Iris said. "It is very obvious he is going to kill him." She tugged Cane’s front clothes to get his attention, while Ethan, as the judge, didn’t do anything. The gamma’s eyes fixed on them, but he didn’t seem like he was going to stop this anytime soon.

"Just watch, Iris," Cane replied simply, as he rubbed her back, yet it didn’t help.

Iris looked around her, all the warriors had stopped with their training and watched the battle between the youngest warrior and the warrior from the Winter Moon pack, gradually, their focus were solely on them.

Iris’s seven personal warriors watched with seriousness on their expression, but neither of them tried to stop the fight.

This was very new for Iris to watch the warriors were training, but most of the time they were very civil and there was no hostility, neither killing intent involved, not like this one.

"Cane..." Iris whimpered, she screeched when a harsh punch landed on Joel’s face and he stumbled back, but quickly regained his footing and dodged the next attack.

"Don’t do anything, Iris." Cane put his hand around her waist right now and squeezed it as a warning for her not to do anything and as a result, the alpha got a glaring look from his mate, for a second, Cane even thought Iris would attack him instead for stopping her.

But then a second later, there was this long and painful roar that split the heavy atmosphere and the tension in the air, as the man dropped to his knees, holding his neck that was bleeding profusely.

Somehow, when Iris threw Cane a dagger look, Joel managed to get to his neck and harm him, which the end of the fight.

Grace immediately came to check on the wounded warrior, as people from the Howling Wolf pack cheered for Joel.

Kian and Asher exclaimed their excitement, while Dyne and Eron teased the young warrior, even though because of the distance, Joel must not hear them.

Only then, Iris sighed in relief, she didn’t realize how tense she was until now.

"He is young, but he is a good warrior," Cane simply said, but when it came from him, it was a rare praise that would make Joel had a hard time to sleep because of how happy he was to be praised by the alpha, only if he heard this. "Let’s go."

Cane took Iris’s hand and continued to walk toward the pack house.

But before she left the area, Iris could see Joel walked toward his opponent and hatred glinted in his clear eyes, it was a shocking sight to see because a moment ago, when he was in a fight, he looked so calm and collected, as if there was nothing could disturb him.

But right now, he showed so much hostility that Iris didn’t think he could have.

From the distance, she read what the young warrior said;

’Don’t you dare to badmouth my luna again, or next time, I will slit your throat.’

Iris was taken aback, because someone as sweet as Joel could say something very vicious like that. Based on that simple statement, she could figure out what happened. This warrior from the Winter Moon pack must have talked bad about her and this triggered Joel.

This was not something new for Iris and she was already used to it, but still, having someone stood up for her and was angry on her behalf was a very pleasant feeling.

A small smile appeared on the corner of Iris’s lips, while her heart became so warm. She felt like she wanted to cry and think how silly she was to cry over something like this.

Iris shook her head and followed Cane.

"What did he say to you?"

"Nothing important," Iris replied in small voice. She shook her head and Cane stopped walking, he pinched her chin and lifted her head to look at him in the eyes.

"What is it, Iris?" Cane asked calmly.

Iris knew she was not a good liar, especially in front of her mate, thus she told him the conversation between alpha Nolan and her. The alpha didn’t really attack her or openly show his ill intention, but a few remarks from him was enough as the evidence that he wanted to sow discord between her and Cane, for what purpose? They still needed to figure it out.

"What do you think about that?"

"Nothing."

"Iris."

Iris sighed deeply. "I feel so bad to think I am only a replacement for you and you are with me because of the mate bond between us and whatever thing that bound us together." Iris didn’t blatantly talk about Lu, but Cane understood. "With Leane it’s love, but with me, it’s more like an obligation."

Iris felt bad to think that way, but the more she felt bad about it, the worst her feeling became.

"Don’t be silly, you are not an obligation." Cane leaned over and captured her lips gently, while the seven warriors suddenly took extreme interest to the nature around them.

The next day, the news about Sofia arrived and this caused an uproar among the warriors and people there, as it turned out the woman didn’t give birth to alpha Cane’s child. The child didn’t have the golden eyes that represented the bloodline of the royal.

All the warriors were so angry with how they were deceived.

Meanwhile, Cane set his plan in motion, as he sent a warning letter to alpha Gallot, demanded his explanation, since he was the one, who sent Sofia to his pack.

But, as a reply, there was a letter from the palace.

King Alan demanded Cane and Lou’s presence in the capital city.
