The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 603: REDMOND JUNIOR

Chapter 603: REDMOND JUNIOR

It was a long and tiring day and Redmond didn’t have any patience left to deal with Nala’s nonsense. This was the kindest words he could think of among the other obscenities and insults that swarmed in his mind right now.

Especially to this woman without status. Without her father, she was nothing and the king as her backup, she was literally nothing.

"I wonder, why do you keep her alive when her father was someone, who wanted to kill your alpha and created trouble for your pack?" Redmond threw a nasty look at Nala, which made her flinched. This warrior had a sharp tongue when she didn’t attack him at all. "Seriously, I wonder how your alpha gave out punishment. For a daughter of a traitor to be alive and still talking, it’s way too merciful."

It was not that Cane didn’t punish Nala, he simply didn’t care about this woman to the point, her existence was forgotten. More so, she was only a pawn and had no value whatsoever. There was no information that Cane could dig from her neither she was important enough to be used, she had no connection to anyone powerful, which meant she couldn’t be utilized for any plan in Cane’s mind, based on that, her existence was not a concern.

"Nah, you know the alpha is very twisted, he even mated with his enemy’s daughter," Lou remarked the fact that Cane not only didn’t punish Iris for her father’s sin, but he adored her now.

However, when the merchant said that, he pulled Nala behind him, but he squeezed her wrist tightly, until she grimaced in pain to warn her to stop spouting nonsense. She had caused unnecessary trouble.

Yet, Lou was curious why this warrior was so livid when Nala suggested that? It did look like he was ready to snarl and kill someone for hinting to kill that swindler.

Interesting...

Redmond flared up and Jace held his shoulder to keep him from shifting into his beast. "What now? You fuck her? You two like a pathetic lover!" It was so clear with the gesture that Lou showed to him.

"What now? You fuck her? So, you are angry because she insulted your baby’s mamma?" Lou mimicked what Redmond said. He tasted the water and the reaction from the warrior brought a small smile on the corner of his lips, but he tightened his grip even more when Nala was about to speak, too shock with what he was hinting at Redmond.

Nala gritted her teeth and sucked in cold breathe, she felt her wrist would snap if Lou put more pressure. How could this man be so strong? He was not a shifter!

But with the pain, Nala couldn’t speak anything, she had to endure it until the conversation was finished.

"Enough!" Jace roared. He could sense the merchant was trying to feel the situation and he would be damned if he got something from this exchange. "Go to the carriage now, Redmond! You will go to escort her to the Riverside pack!"

"Don’t you dare to give me an order!" Redmond snarled at Jace, but he went to the carriage and start riding away with a few warriors that Jace had prepared to go with him.

Some of the warriors, who were there and didn’t know any detail about the whole situation, were confused why the beta told them to go to the Riverside pack. What about the punishment? Why the alpha let go of someone, who had fooled him? But, actually, it was them, who were fooled, because Cane had never once showed any indication he accepted Sofia and her baby...

"What? I can’t go to the Riverside pack now?" Lou asked Jace innocently after the small entourage that took Sofia away was out of their sight. "I have work to do, you know. I am busy. More so, I can go with them, since we have the same destination. The more the merrier, don’t you think?"

Jace was speechless. It was so tiring to deal with Redmond and Lou at the same time. "I thought you are tired, you should have gone to the Riverside pack two days ago when you finished your job here." He reminded Lou of the same thing again.

"What? I can’t take my rest? I am ready to go now." Lou frowned, he was unhappy.

"Take one more day to rest, to make sure you are ready to work again. I don’t want to overwork you." Jace wanted to delay this merchant, at the very least, he shouldn’t tail Redmond’s entourage.

Yet, the beta should have learned by now that he couldn’t do that to Lou.

"Don’t you dare to give me an order, beta Jace." Once again, Lou mimicked Redmond’s reaction and then turned around with Nala close to him. He literally tossed her inside the carriage and slammed the door, as he told Sabian to start moving.

Jace watched how that red carriage took the merchant away from the pack.

"Should we stop him?" One of the warriors approached Jace. He watched the entire exchange and thought they should stop the merchant if the beta told him not to leave.

Jace scrunched his brows, shaking his head. "No. Let him go."

Having worked with him during his stay in this pack, as he put the magical device to prevent the monsters from coming to their pack, Jace learned Lou’s character well and it was safe to say that it would be a futile attempt if he were trying to stop him from leaving.

More so, the alpha wanted the tunnel to be done before winter came.

Right after the red carriage left and Jace was about to go back to the pack and write his report to Cane, Kaz approached him, he was panting and looking around, as if he were searching for something.

"Beta Jace, I heard you will take the slut to the Riverside pack? Why would you do that?" Kaz asked incredulously. The news about Sofia was leaving to the Riverside pack was too sudden, more so, it was in the middle of the night, most of the people were sleeping peacefully at their houses without realizing the slut had gotten away and now she was gone. "Where is she now? Is she still inside the house?"

Jace’s eyes hardened when he stared at this old steward. Good thing he was going to retire soon.

He had known Kaz for so long, but he had change so much and he was no longer the person he once respected. He disliked the people, who questioned their alpha’s order and blatantly disrespecting him.

"Go back to the pack house, Kaz," Jace said, trying to keep his calm.

"Beta, where is that slut!? Why the alpha let her go? Will she get the punishment?" Kaz couldn’t stop rambling. He rushed here immediately, as soon as he heard the news. He couldn’t sleep, he couldn’t drink, he couldn’t eat because of this heavy feeling in his chest.

"You have crossed the line again, Kaz. Whatever the alpha did, he didn’t have any obligation to explain things to you." Jace stared at him sharply.

Kaz flinched slightly. He was muddleheaded with so much grievances. The more he thought about his action, the harder it became.

"Th- that’s not what I meant..." Kaz stuttered.

"Do your job well and teach Carla all the things she needs to know, you still have five more months before you retired. At the very least, you need to respect the alpha’s last order for you." It was so rare for Jace to talk so sternly at Kaz, therefore the old steward was slightly taken aback and couldn’t utter a single word, especially when Jace reminded him of Cane’s last order, the words stung really bad.

However, when Jace was about to leave, Kaz gathered his courage and asked sheepishly.

"Beta Jace, may I know when the alpha and the luna will return?" His voice was so small, like a whisper.

"I don’t have any idea," Jace answered truthfully and then walked away.

Meanwhile, on the way to the Riverside pack, Redmond stayed with Sofia in the carriage, as he frowned watching the baby latched onto her breast. She was feeding their son.

"He just ate two hours ago, why he keeps eating? Is that normal? It’s time to sleep, right?" Redmond couldn’t understand this little thing. His body was so small, but he ate too much. He was only a few hours old by now.

"Babies don’t follow such routine," Sofia said. She stared at her baby softly. She couldn’t believe he came from her. He looked so pure and unreal. This blissful feeling was hard to describe.

"So, when he will sleep? Will he keeps eating every hour?" Redmond was so curious, it sounded so dumb for him to not know anything about it.

Sofia closed her eyes and gathered all of her patience, Redmond had been asking her these silly questions for hours now, since they left the Howling Wolf pack. He had been grumbling because Lou followed them and he couldn’t shake him off.

"I don’t know and yes, Nea said he will be hungry all the time." Sofia tried to be calm, because the baby could feel her agitation and now, he scrunched his brows, uncomfortable.

"You need to feed Redmond Junior with meat, drinking milk will not make him full."

"Pardon me?"

"What?"

"What silly name you called my son with?"

"What? Redmond Junior. We need to call him with something, right?"

The baby started crying and Sofia had enough. "Get out!"
