Chapter 468: SOMEONE WAS THERE

Cane saw red when he saw Iris writhing in pain as she let out an ear splitting scream, the current sight of her turned his eyes blood red.

"LU!" Cane called the lycan and at the same time, he shifted into his beast form.

There was no way out. There was no other solution aside from this. Lu was right. No matter how meticulous Cane had been scheming his way to get to his goal, his lack of power was a crucial point.

’Do you really think, you can solely rely on your crafty brain?’ The lycan scoffed at him when he tried to force himself out and Cane stubbornly held him back.

’For ten years, you have used that brain of yours, but without my power, do you think you could have broken free from the slavery? If something happens to my mate, I will not only slaughter your pack members, but any creature I can get my hands on.’

Cane knew that was true, but his statement about Iris irked him.

Yet, seeing Iris doubling over in so much pain, there was nothing more important in his eyes than to stop her pain and the only power Cane could rely on was the lycan’s.

He gave up his body and let the lycan get full control over him. It was a crucial thing for someone like Cane to be vulnerable and let himself be controlled by others.

As an alpha, it was in their nature to have full control over everything around them, to be in a vulnerable state was against their nature.

But, at this moment, a realization hit Cane so hard. He was not only willing to give up his dominance and become so vulnerable before the lycan, but he was more than ready to give up even his soul, if it meant, he could stop her pain.

It was not clear since when he felt this strong and deep feeling for her.

The mate bond indeed helped them to get closer, but after everything that they had gone through, he knew it was way more than that.

On the other hand, Lady Cyan gasped loudly to see Cane shift into his lycan form. It was the lycan! He didn’t shift into his wolf, but a lycan!

"No way..." Oliver gasped, he was kneeling down beside Iris, who had lost consciousness. He was just about to check on the Luna, but this happened before his eyes.

The Alpha shifted into the lycan! The cursed creature that was being hunted down by the whole continent!

What about the rumors of the Alpha hunting down the lycan? What about the King’s order for the Alpha to catch the lycan? What about those sayings about the lycan kidnapping Iris and Alpha Cane managing to track the creature down and save his mate?

They couldn’t believe what they were seeing right now.

On the other hand, Lady Cyan used ten royal warriors as a shield, right in time before the lycan could claw her, but what were ten warriors against a cursed creature? It wouldn’t even take a second before the creature could get to her.

"My Lady, we need to leave!" Leon said urgently, as he went to Lady Cyan’s side. "It’s the lycan! The Alpha is the lycan! The whole world should know about this! The people from the Holy Kingdom should know about this!"

"DAMN IT, HACO! Why have you opened your mouth only now?!" Ethan was furious when he heard what the sorcerer told him.

Lady Cyan was a mind controller! And this old sorcerer didn’t even talk about that until it was too late?! What the hell was he thinking?! Such an important piece of news should have been delivered to Cane as soon as possible, so he would be able to take all the precautions!

And now, he went to the mountains with not enough people to protect him and Iris, while the royal warriors swarmed them up!

"Don’t you know how important the news is!?" Ethan really wanted to kick this old man, plunging a claw or two into his throat would be good too, but then, the sorcerer didn’t have any healing ability. He would die immediately, if he really did that.

"I can’t! I can’t tell you! Only now I broke free from her spell! Do you think I can’t understand the importance of that news! Damn it!" Haco barked back at the Gamma. If he could, he would have let Cane know about that!

The problem was; he didn’t expect Lady Cyan to be a mind controller, thus he was not prepared when she put him under her spell. Thankfully, Haco was also a dark magic user and not a weakling, or else, he would have turned into a puppet, being played by her hand right now.

"She read some information that I know! I stopped her, but I am not sure how much information that she had gathered when we made contact last night!" Haco looked so frustrated with this whole situation. He was drained from all his attempts to get free from that witch’s curse.

Ethan felt his head throb painfully. He thought they were already in the worst situation possible, but now he knew, the situation was only getting worse and worse.

"Aliana, you have to come with me, we need to look for the Alpha."

Jace was here to defend the pack and Will had gone to the Riverside pack to get their warriors in order to help them here, so Ethan decided to lead this small group to find Cane and the others.

"Jace will kill you if he learns you took me to the mountains for this mission," Aliana said casually, while actually preparing herself to join this group.

"It is a waste of your talent to keep you in the orphanage," Ethan grumbled. "You should have joined our training sessions instead of playing with children."

Despite her sweet and kind appearance, Aliana was a fighter. If she was a man, Cane would have chosen her as his gamma. Needless to say, this woman could even fight Ethan head on if she wanted.

"Don’t worry, let’s fight Jace together if he decides to kill you later," Aliana said, as she patted Ethan on the shoulder.

Ethan grimaced when he heard that. "Thank you, that’s comforting enough," he said sarcastically and then faced the fifteen young warriors, who were ready to go to the battle. Jace would really kill him if he knew Ethan led these newly appointed warriors to Goffa mountain. "Listen up! Nobody will engage in the battle, we are going to scout the area and look for the Alpha and the Luna! Stay low and don’t reveal yourself if you could help it! Escape, runaway if you think you are in danger and most importantly, don’t die."

Ethan felt like he was the one, who was going to die right now... the tension was crazy.

"Lady Cyan..." Leon called her. He looked dumbfounded after seeing the lycan kill all the royal warriors, who were trying to get close to him, to stop him from breaking through the barrier that Lady Cyan had put around herself, Leon and the King. "We need to go... we need to get the King to a safe place. The lycan is insane... this creature will kill us."

Lady Cyan gritted her teeth. Her barrier wouldn’t last for long, as she had drained her energy to control the King and all the royal warriors, while Leon was loyal to her, as he begged her to spare his daughter, this old warrior wouldn’t be able to help with anything if the lycan tore down the barrier she had created.

Before their eyes, the lycan had brutally killed the four hundred royal warriors that attacked him in less than two hours.

Blood seeped into the ground, the metallic scent was so strong, it was actually very suffocating, especially for the shifters, but the King maintained his angry expression without saying anything.

Lady Cyan tried to harm Iris, but the lycan didn’t let anyone touch her. No one could even go close to her, while the four beasts only added an additional layer of protection to her.

And now, when all the royal warriors had died, the only one that stood before her eyes was the lycan, while Iris and the other four beasts were no longer in sight.

The red eyes of the lycan looked as bloody as the blood on the ground. He looked so feral, as if ready for another showdown. He barred his fangs and his claws were sharp enough to cut through steel.

This barrier wouldn’t stand his attacks for long.

But then, Lady Cyan’s eyes lit up when she saw someone from behind the lycan. At the same time, the beast also sensed this person, as the lycan snarled viciously. The beast’s black fur looked shiny with the blood that coated him.

"Father..." Lady Cyan called this person under her breath. She knew she would be out of trouble seeing her father was here.

Iris felt her chest split into two when the pain turned very unbearable. Her ears kept ringing and this made her head throb painfully, as if someone was hammering her head endlessly.

She closed her eyes and hoped the pain would subside soon. She realized it was because of Lady Cyan’s curse. But once it did subside and she opened her eyes, she was no longer inside the forest of the Goffa mountain.

Iris was laying down on the floor, inside this empty hall, where she knew the five swords were.

"Iris."

Someone called her and she turned her head toward the source of the voice when she heard that.
