Iris had long sensed this ominous feeling, but a second ago, she felt like the feeling intensified a hundred fold and her discomfort amplified, as if something sharp was plunged into her chest. The pain was excruciating, though it only lasted for a few seconds, but it was enough for her to lose control over her body and fall from her horse.

If it was not for Cane, who broke her fall, she would have sustained serious injuries from falling from such a height.

Her body was twitching and her ears were ringing, the noise made her head throb in agony. The torment lasted for at least three to four seconds, but Iris felt like hours had passed before she finally opened her eyes and caught Cane’s worried expression.

She had never seen him so worried like right now.

"You defend yourself so well, I am so curious about your origins now." Lady Cyan tilted her head, as she looked at Iris with so much curiosity.

"What have you done to her?!" Cane growled. He cradled Iris in his arms, as she whimpered in pain and clutched his shirt tightly. Her body was trembling and the Alpha also had a hard time reigning the anger of the lycan within him. This cursed creature was forcing himself to resurface.

However, Lady Cyan seemed to be deep in thought, as she mumbled to herself. The vibe she gave off was almost like a maniac, it was so different from the calm figure she usually portrayed in front of the public.

"She should have died with such a strong curse, but she didn’t. How could a runt do that? No, even a shifter or an average magic user will not be able to withstand that. Is she that powerful or is that only the nature of her ability? Could she extend her ability to someone else?" Lady Cyan directed her eyes at Cane, as she contemplated something, from the tips of her fingers you could see red wisp rising into the air.

The Howling Wolf pack warriors were on high alert with how things escalated, it went south so fast. They didn’t see this coming, nor were they prepared for this kind of situation.

But a second later, two warriors screamed in agony, as they fell from their horses. Their screams didn’t last long, as their bodies dropped dead to the ground.

"I don’t think she can extend her power," Lady Cyan lamented.

Meanwhile, the remaining seven warriors of the Howling Wolf pack snarled, they were enraged to see their fellow warriors die in such a state.

"She should have died like that, but it is so impressive that she can withstand my curse." Lady Cyan tapped on her lips, contemplating Iris’ unique ability.

Seeing their friends dead, one of the warriors charged forward to attack Lady Cyan. He was in his beast form, but before he could reach the witch, five royal warriors charged forward and fought him brutally.

The other six warriors snarled and two of them charged forward to help their friend, but more and more royal warriors interfered.

Only four warriors; Oliver, Dyne, Eron and Dean had stayed back, bound by their duty to protect their alpha and their luna.

Meanwhile, Cane was having a hard time breathing when Lu tried forcefully to come forward. He couldn’t let the lycan out if he could help it and Iris could sense his struggle, as she was already calm enough from the aftermath of the curse, since Lady Cyan didn’t have her focus on her.

The fight didn’t last for long, as the four of them were forced to watch their fellow warriors get slaughtered. It could be their end too, but even so, they wouldn’t hesitate to die just to find a way out for their alpha and luna. Therefore, they couldn’t leave their positions.

It was hard when they had to watch everything unfold before their eyes with their hands tied. It almost felt like they were thrown back to the time of their slavery. They were forced to watch their closed ones die without being able to do anything.

That was what was happening right now.

"Cane, focus on me," Iris said, she grabbed his hand, as she sat down. His hands were so cold, but his eyes were still so dark. Cane shook his head, as if he was trying to get rid of the intrusive thoughts.

"Lady Cyan!" Alpha Dristan cried, as he fell to his knees, begging the witch. "I will not say anything about this! I will not say anything regardless of what unfolds here! Spare my life and I will be your loyal ally!"

At this point, there was no way out of this situation, it was either you becoming an ally of this witch or accepting you were going to die, since she had revealed so much about herself, a secret that the mistress had been keeping for so many years.

See? This was what Cane meant when he said there was nothing such as loyalty between two people, there were only profits and benefits. Their cooperation wouldn’t last for long once they didn’t see the benefit from doing so.

And for Alpha Dristan right now, his life was way more important than anything else. It was so embarrassing to see the Alpha from the Red Claw pack, the richest pack in this continent, grovel for his life.

Meanwhile, the King was so oblivious that he was simply a backdrop. He said and did nothing, as his expression remained angry, yet it was very clear for them now that he was under the witch’s spell, as he couldn’t get a better grip over this situation.

"You want to be my ally?" Lady Cyan repeated the words and Dristan nodded his head eagerly. He couldn’t care less about Cane and the others.

"My Lady, I am the richest alpha in this continent, having me as an ally will greatly benefit you,’’ Alpha Dristan started blabbering all the sweet offerings for the witch. "I will help Prince Alan regain the Crown Prince status. I will make sure the Red Claw pack will not interfere with the succession of your son."

It was Koda’s grandson, who was appointed as the new crown prince and Alpha Dristan thought it was a great offer then. It was why he helped Cane dethrone the previous crown prince, who was none other than the only son of this witch.

The only personal warrior of Alpha Dristan also knelt down beside him, bending his body until his head touched the ground, begging for his life.

She saw how Cane held Alpha Dristan’s head in his hand while the latter’s dead eyes stared at her. She could feel her heart beat so fast in her chest, yet, she didn’t make any noise, as she gritted her teeth and balled her fists to get a grip over herself.

She tried to calm herself down and not to panic, this was not the first time for her to see such a gory sight.

Meanwhile, the other four warriors gasped, but this was not something that they had never seen before either. To their surprise, their luna looked level headed enough, she could stay composed upon seeing this.

It was actually the new mistress of Alpha Dristan, who was sobbing into Dyne’s chest, as she closed her eyes tightly, her whole body was trembling.

"You can have him," Cane said callously, as he threw Alpha Dristan’s head toward Lady Cyan. It actually hit her waist and blood sprayed all over her dress and face.

Lady Cyan was not a warrior, she lacked physical reflexes, thus she couldn’t dodge that and this made the woman look so mad. The look on her face was so eerie with blood covering her skin.

"Here, take this as well." Cane then threw Alpha Dristan’s body as well, but this time, Lady Cyan saw that coming and immediately jumped to the side to avoid it.

Since they were stuck in this situation, Cane didn’t need an ally turned traitor like Dristan. At this point, what mattered the most was their own lives. He could die for all he cared, since he was going to expose the deal between the two of them anyway.

Lady Cyan was already a handful, he didn’t need another threat. If Dristan would do more harm than good, it would be better to get rid of him sooner than later.

"HOW DARE YOU!" The witch was furious and she aimed her anger at Iris instead, because she didn’t want to kill Cane just yet and hurting Iris was the better choice to hurt this alpha. After seeing their interaction all this time, she knew how much Cane cared about his mate.

Iris’ body fell to the ground, as she curled herself and let out an ear splitting scream that could make you shiver, as though you could also feel her pain.
