Cane was so pissed with Haco because the old sorcerer refused to divulge what happened last night between him and Lady Cyan. He couldn’t go see Haco by himself because the King demanded his presence all this morning and he couldn’t leave like he wanted to.

And then, the King even commanded him to bring Iris with them for a hunt in the Goffa mountain. They wouldn’t go too deep into the mountains, as they would only hunt for a few white foxes in the outer perimeter, as Lady Cyan really wanted to have their fur.

She heard about the last hunt Cane took the King and wanted the white foxes too, she wanted to make a cloak for the upcoming winter.

However, the woman was being irrational with her request because white fox was a rare creature. To think she wanted a cloak made out of their fur, it meant they needed to find at least a dozen of them. The King knew how rare the creature was, but because his mistress demanded it, the senseless king didn’t hesitate to go along with her request.

And since Lady Cyan wanted to go to the mountain, Iris needed to go as well, as she was the Lady of the house.

Cane kept his cool, but he was boiling inside. Most of his anger was directed toward Haco, who was being so petty by not telling him what went down last night and right now, the old sorcerer was not in the pack house, he was at the orphanage.

Cane had sent someone to drag his ass back. He needed to know what went down last night.

However, when he came to his bedroom to find Iris wanting to wake her up, he saw she had been up and looking for something, while mumbling to herself.

Her hair was a mess and her curls looked bigger than usual whenever she just woke up. From behind, it made it look like her curls covered almost her whole body.

Somehow, his annoyance toward Haco evaporated into thin air, as he had this smile on the corners of his lips when he approached Iris and squatted down behind her.

She still didn’t realize his presence, as she kept searching in the drawer, until Cane brushed her hair aside and kissed her shoulder. Iris jolted out of surprise.

"C- Cane? What are you doing here?" Iris asked, her face turned so red, as if she had been caught stealing something.

"What are you looking for?" Cane asked, he then pecked the tip of her nose.

"I am not looking for anything," Iris was flustered, she backed away from him, trying to get away from her mate. "I- I just want to take a bath."

After saying that, she immediately rushed toward the bathroom. She didn’t think Cane would come back at this time and actually catch her red handed and this made her really embarrassed. She prayed he wouldn’t know what she had been looking for.

Her dirty mind was so embarrassing.

Iris ran the water and filled the tub. She didn’t know why Cane was here, but she didn’t want to face him right now.

Yet, when she was about to take off her dress, she sensed his presence and immediately turned around. Iris really wanted to kick herself for not locking the door behind her, but then she remembered the door didn’t have any lock.

Iris stared at Cane, mortified when he raised his hand and showed her what she had been looking for.

"Are you looking for these?" Cane asked innocently, as he approached his mate who had turned almost like a statue. He waved the two bottles in front of her face.

"No." Iris gritted her teeth while forcing that single word out, but then Cane bit her lip briefly before he looked at her again.

"I can taste your lie, Iris."

Iris swallowed so hard, she fiddled with her fingers and lowered her head, but then Cane put his finger under her chin to lift her head back up.

"Don’t you want to tell me, what is in your mind?" Cane asked, his voice was gentle, as he could see how bashful his woman was. "Or, do you want me to tell you what these two bottles are?"

Iris pulled her hair in distress, as she mumbled. "The second." Though she was in a predicament, her curiosity still got the best of her.

Hearing that, Cane chuckled. He slightly bent his tall body, so he could be on the same eye level with her. "Had not Lu told you about this? I think you already know what these two bottles are, why don’t you tell me why you are looking for them?"

Iris was so familiar with the way Cane twisted his words and how he guided the situation to his favor, thus she glared at him, still blushing and stuttering. "I- I want to know... I was looking for the bottles because I thought I lost them. Lu only... he didn’t really explain anything." Iris gripped her dress as she talked a little bit firmly. "If you don’t want to tell me, then you don’t need to."

By the end of her declaration, Iris started panting. She felt so tired, as if she had been running for her life, but Cane laughed and hugged her, nuzzling the crook of her neck, which made Iris feel even more flustered.

"You are so adorable," Cane said, as he wrapped his arms around her body and stared at her deeply.

"I am annoyed."

"You are annoyed and adorable." Cane kissed the tip of her nose and this made Iris narrow her eyes.

She could feel it, Cane was being even more affectionate with her ever since he got control of his body back from Lu. Was it really him? "Cane, is that you?"

"It’s me, Iris." Cane cupped her face and she could feel how warm his palms were. "I want to take you to the Howling Wolf pack’s tomb again and show you a place."
