Chapter 305: IRIS AND KELLAN
Chapter 305: IRIS AND KELLAN
Cane expected the worst, but what he heard was even more horrendous. His eyes narrowed into slits, as he stared into Iris’ eyes dangerously. He put his finger under her chin and lifted her head so their eyes could meet. "What do you mean?"
In Cane’s mind, Iris endured harassment, but physically, not sexually. He knew she was a virgin, because he was the one who had deflowered her and there was no doubt about that, but what did she mean by what she just said?
Seeing the anger in Cane’s eyes, Iris was terrified, she back tracked. "It’s... it’s just a dream... it did not really happen. I’m used to dreaming about random things, I even dream of an empty hall with five swords often. It’s just a dream."
Cane didn’t budge, as he persisted with his question. "Why did you keep saying; don’t tell anyone. What is the thing you are not allowed to tell anyone? Why were you naked?"
"I... it’s..." Iris stumbled with her words. "There was a young man standing in front of me... I was naked and he said... I can’t tell anyone..." Iris clutched onto Cane’s shirt without her knowing it, as if she was afraid the Alpha would lash out at her, as she could see how enraged he was.
"You were naked in front of a man?" Cane narrowed his eyes, which made her shudder in fear.
"I was... I was little... in my dream, I was a kid." As if by explaining that could make things any better, instead, Cane even looked darker.
"You were naked in front of a man when you were a child and he told you to not tell anyone?" Cane summarized this grimly. This was the most disgusting thing he had ever heard.
Outside, through the window, they could see the sun finally appear in the horizon, casting away the darkness of the night. It would be a warm day, since it had stopped snowing, but inside the room, a storm was brewing.
"I am sorry... I am sorry..." Iris didn’t know what to say and she was not sure why she was apologizing, it was simply her first instinct to ask for forgiveness when things went wrong. She felt it was her mistake and she was the one who should be blamed, for whatever reason it might be.
Iris used to ask for forgiveness whenever Mason got angry at her and started to beat her up and for some reason, even though it didn’t have any correlation with what was happening with Cane right now, that was her first reaction to save the situation and appease the anger she saw in Cane’s eyes.
"It’s just a dream... I am sorry..." Iris didn’t even understand what she was saying, she only said whatever came to her mind, as she was so scared to see how Cane got away from her.
Cane wouldn’t think much about this if it was a random dream, but from the looks of their situation right now, it was not as simple as that.
It almost felt like pieces of her memories tried to resurface because she was provoked.
Actually, this was Cane’s plan to try to figure out what had gone wrong between Iris and Prince Kellan, but he didn’t expect this. He was not prepared for this, the image of what had happened alone disgusted him.
He should be glad his plan worked and Iris finally remembered.
However, he didn’t think he wanted her to remember all the details of what happened to her anymore. There must be a reason why she unconsciously forgot that memory.
"Sleep again," Cane said through his gritted teeth, as he kissed her head briefly and got off the bed, he needed to be away from her for a while. He was in turmoil and he knew how scary he could be whenever he couldn’t keep his calm.
The wind was still so cold in this early winter morning, but it was not enough to faze Cane’s step when he approached Trion in the horse stable. He had sent two guards to stand in front of his bedroom.
"Prepare the carriage, we will return to the palace," Cane said to Trion.
The warrior was a little bit confused when he heard the order because Cane had been dodging the King’s order to return to the palace using the reason Iris suddenly fell sick and he was needed in the city to calm down the people.
What brought this sudden change?
"Yes, Alpha." Despite his confusion, Trion didn’t dare to voice any of it out.
"Where is Redmond and Hanna?"
This was even more confusing because it was not everyday the Alpha would come looking for Hanna, unless he wanted to send the maid to his mate, especially Redmond.
"Hanna is helping in the kitchen and Redmond... he is still sleeping." Trion grimaced. The warrior was in a bad mood last night and drank himself to sleep.
Cane said nothing and walked away toward the small barracks that were being used by the warriors and guards to sleep. It was easy to find him, since his scent was of one that annoyed Cane.
The barracks were almost empty, but the other guards, who were still inside, immediately walked out after they greeted him politely.
Once it was only Cane and the sleeping Redmond inside, the Alpha was not polite when he woke him up. Cane raised his leg and kicked the makeshift bed, which made Redmond fall to the ground with a loud thump sound, as his body rolled to the other side of the barracks.
He squeaked angrily and was about to lash out, yet he clamped his mouth shut when he saw the enraged alpha.
His dominant aura was so strong, he couldn’t even utter a single word, as he tried to process what was going on.
"What is it?" Redmond was still on the ground, palming his throbbing head, as the Alpha towered over him. He could feel his killing intention.
Probably that was what those guards felt once the Alpha stepped into the barracks, as they immediately rushed out.
"What did I do wrong now?" Redmond couldn’t bring himself to look Cane in the eyes and this annoyed him, but his fear toward the Alpha was way greater right now that he kept his head down.
He was not sure since when he dreaded this man. Didn’t he use to see him being enslaved by Alpha Gerald and Mason? He used to watch the torment from afar, but right now, he wondered how they could tame him back then. With a terrifying aura like this, he could scare Mason shitless in seconds.
"Tell me everything about Prince Kellan," Cane finally spoke.
He had looked for this matter in the wrong place. He asked his men to dig deeper into Prince Kellan, but he should have asked the people around Iris first, as they were around her at the time they were still in the Blue Moon pack.
"What do you mean? You have asked Leros to look for any information on that prince, right?" Redmond misunderstood the question. He thought it was about information in the present, not in the past.
"Tell me everything about Kellan and Iris when she was little."
