Chapter 295: DREAMS

Cane cradled Iris in his arms, as she sat on his lap, because Hanna said not to let her lie down, since she couldn’t breathe, while Iris was in and out of consciousness constantly.

"I need to go to the bathroom..." Iris said in a weak voice.

She didn’t realize she had eaten a strawberry, as the food tasted like sand in her mouth when her anxiety flared up upon sitting so close to Kellan.

At first, Cane thought Iris’ reaction was because of the Prince, but when he learned it was due to her allergy, his thoughts went back to square one again.

"What...?" Iris was mortified when Cane reached into her clothes. "What are... you doing?"

"I will help you." Cane thought she was going to take a pee because she drank so much, but Iris stopped him from taking off her undergarment.

"I just want to vomit..." If she was not this pale, her face would be so bright red. How could Cane be so casual about this thing? There was a time when Cane wiped her whole body and he didn’t even change his expression to see her nakedness.

Cane then pulled a water bucket from under the bed. Before leaving earlier, Hanna had said that Iris would probably want to throw up, so he asked someone to prepare this.

"No, I want to go to the bathroom..." Iris didn’t want to vomit in front of Cane, she was embarrassed enough.

Yet, Cane had seen things even more embarrassing and had touched the dirtiest things in this realm, a vomit didn’t bother him.

"Just do it here," Cane said gently.

Iris shook her head, but it only made her feel more nauseated. She gritted her teeth, stubbornly holding back this uncomfortable feeling, but Cane pulled the water bucket close to her and bent her neck, as he massaged her back rhythmically, to help her ease the discomfort.

No longer able to hold it back, Iris regurgitated into the bucket, the sound was so embarrassing, she tried to push Cane away, but it was only a futile attempt, as she couldn’t stop herself from emptying her stomach.

On the other hand, Cane didn’t even flinch when he heard the sound, nor did he furrow his brows. If anything, the only thing that made him dissatisfied was to see how much pain Iris was in. Unconsciously, he took a mental note of this incident, he would make sure it would never happen again in the future.

Iris kept retching, even when there was nothing coming out of her mouth, as she felt so bitter and exhausted. She lifted her head and Cane wiped her mouth with a clean towel, he put away the bucket and cradled her again against his chest. Her body was so cold, thus he asked someone to light up one more brazier inside the room, even though it was already so hot for him.

"Drink this," Cane said, as he brought the glass to her mouth, so she could drink it easily. He caressed her back to ease her pain.

Iris drank half of the water, but her mouth felt so bitter, even the warm water tasted so distasteful in her mouth.

An hour later, when Iris finally fell asleep again, Kellan entered the room. Aroyal warrior pushed his wheelchair in and left him inside before he walked out of the room.

"How is she?" Kellan asked, his expression filled with concern. "I heard the healer can’t help because her body is not responsive to the healing power."

"Yes." Cane pulled a blanket and covered Iris’ body, up to her face, so from Kellan’s point of view, he could only see her curly, auburn hair. "How do you know she is allergic to strawberries?"

"I was friends with Mason, he told me before and Iris confirmed it." Kellan smiled helplessly. "I have told you before, I used to be pretty close to her when she was still little, but I think she forgot after a decade of not meeting each other again, after all a lot of things happened during that period of time. I am not surprised she forgot."

Cane said nothing, but his dark eyes were akin to a pair of black holes, they were so mysterious, as if he was holding thousands of secrets.

"You can stay here for as long as you want. Please, take this as my apology for not realizing it soon. I completely forgot about her allergy."

"You don’t need to be sorry, I am thankful for that small information you still provided. You remembered it in time."

After they exchanged a few pleasantries, Kellan withdrew and wished for Iris’ fast recovery. He didn’t forget to tell Cane to ask him if he needed anything.

Meanwhile, Iris was having trouble in her sleep, she was very restless because these familiar dreams kept invading her mind and this time it lasted a little bit longer than the last time.

She was in the empty hall again with the five swords and a mysterious person, staring at her from a distance, but this time, she managed to tell that this person was a woman, she had curly hair in the same color as hers, but then, her dream stopped and she was suddenly inside her bedroom, staring at the bleak winter morning, as snow piled up on the ground.

Whenever winter came, she couldn’t go out, because she easily got sick whenever she felt very cold.

She was alone in her room when someone entered and she saw him for the first time. He was a little bit older than her brother, but she recognized him immediately.

"Prince Kellan," Iris said, blinking her blue eyes when she watched the Prince smile at her warmly and she smiled back at him, it was a rare occasion for someone to treat her nicely.

"Hello," Prince Kellan said, as he closed the door behind him and then approached little Iris, who was excited to see him.

"Are you playing with me today?" Little Iris asked, her eyes lit up enthusiastically, because the Prince finally came to play with her.
