Chapter 283: LEAVE

Iris trembled in horror when she witnessed a murder happening for the first time right before her eyes.

Prince Vemion was still struggling and begging for mercy after being taken away from his chamber by the lycan and was dragged here, yet the next thing that happened made them suck in a cold breath.

The lycan stabbed into his chest and yanked his heart out of his body, before the cursed creature crushed it easily. The gagging sound Prince Vemion let out was the last sound that came out of his mouth before his lifeless body was thrown away to the side and slowly, the lycan shifted back into the Alpha of the Howling Wolf pack, as the sun rose in the east and the dull light spilled into this clearing.

"Shit!" Redmond cursed loudly when he saw that. He himself was taken aback, completely caught off guard, thus he didn’t have time to shield Iris from such horrendous sight. "You agreed not to do it in front of her!"

Meanwhile, Iris blanched. This was the most disturbing and horrifying thing she had ever witnessed. She didn’t know what to say, nor did she know how to react. The lycan had just killed the Prince in such a brutal way she had never imagined before and now, instead of the lycan, Cane was standing ten steps away from her and the bloody remains of what was left of Prince Vemion’s heart were still dripping from his hand. The color was so red, as fresh blood dripped onto the snow covered ground, leaving dark stains on the surface.

"Damn you! What do you think you are doing in front of her?!" Redmond snarled at Cane, while the Alpha ignored him as usual. His eyes drifted to his mate, holding her gaze. Her eyes were filled with fear. A lot of fear. "Are you okay?" Redmond turned around and faced Iris. He shook her shoulder, but then her legs gave away and she dropped to the cold ground. It was so cold, even for a shifter, let alone someone like her. She would get sick again if she stayed like this.

"What are you going to say now?!" Redmon barked at Ethan, who was dumbfounded. This time, he didn’t even have a word to retort.

The Gamma didn’t have the slightest idea that Cane would do such a thing in front of Iris, as they agreed not to do it in her presence, because it would be too much for her to handle. Was it the lycan? Couldn’t he control himself in his lycan form whenever Iris was nearby? Cane was sure about that, but why did he kill Vemion in front of her?

Even Haco was stunned, he gagged and threw up at the sight of the Prince’s lifeless body. He didn’t know the whole plan and was only ordered to curse Princess Osana, just like Iris, he was not expecting to witness such a horrifying and gruesome scene this early morning either.

"My stomach is weak, can’t you warn me first?" Haco complained.

Out of all the people, it was only Will, who didn’t have any reaction. He stared at the dead body of Prince Vemion as if it was nothing, as if he felt nothing. He still sat on the ground, staring at the whole thing with numbness.

"Let’s go, I will take you back to the lodge," Redmond said, he helped Iris to get up on her feet and left the scene.

Once the two of them left, Ethan approached Cane. He looked cautious when he spoke. "Why did you do that? We have agreed not to do it in front of her."

Cane was still staring at the spot where Iris and Redmond disappeared before shifting his eyes to his bloody hand. He was silent for a while before he spoke.

"I didn’t agree to anything," he said and then lifted his head to look at his gamma. "Prepare for the next move."

And after saying that, Cane turned around and left, he went to clean the blood on his hand, leaving those people to stare at his back with great apprehension.

Cane was right, the idea was suggested by Redmond and Ethan, who in a rare moment, agreed with each other, yet Cane had never said anything and they deemed it as him agreeing to it silently.

Ethan groaned to see his alpha leave without any explanation yet again. He couldn’t comprehend the way Cane’s mind worked. He was very unpredictable. He thought the relationship between him and Iris had made great progress, but why would he do such a gruesome thing in front of her?

Unless he couldn’t control the lycan, yet there was no way for Ethan to know that for sure.

"Will, come here and help me!" Ethan waved his hand toward Will, who stood up and approached the Gamma. He still said nothing, nor did he show any emotion, while Haco had scurried away, heaving his guts out somewhere, cursing Cane with every step that he took, thankfully, he didn’t have any magic stones on him.

==============================

Redmond handed Iris a cup of hot chocolate, he didn’t stop nagging at her, even though she wouldn’t look at him, which meant, whatever he said couldn’t be understood by her, yet it didn’t discourage the warrior.

"Shit! What does he want?!" Redmond cursed when he caught Cane’s scent and right at the next second, the door was thrown open. The Alpha was standing there, looking so calm as usual. Probably, it was only Iris, who had ever witnessed Cane’s vulnerable side, but it almost felt like a distant memory. "What do you want now?! You shocked her! What you have done was borderline brutal!"

"Leave," Cane said simply, as he strode across the room to reach his mate. He already cleaned himself, there was no trace of blood on him, but the sight that Iris saw an hour ago would forever be engraved in her mind.

"Do you really think I will leave you alone with her?" Redmond stepped in front of Cane to block his path, he stretched out his hand to stop him, but the Alpha swiftly twisted his hand and pushed him away.

"Leave."
