Lou really didn’t understand the reason why Cane was playing dumb. It could be said that he was the actual person who fueled the enmity between Cane and Alan further. The two of them were not on good terms to begin with, his interference only muddied the waters further.

On the other hand, Princess Osana also stayed silent. This was her first encounter with Cane after he grew into the man he was today. The last time she saw him, he was only a boy in his teens.

"You are still asking!?" Alan was furious.

"I am asking because I truly don’t understand," Cane replied and this was the first time for him to acknowledge the existence of the Crown Prince.

"Look! Father!" Alan pointed his finger at Cane, just like a little boy, who liked telling tales about others to his parents. It didn’t please the King at all to see the way he carried himself, yet the Crown Prince couldn’t care less about his image at this moment. "He wanted to deny the crime!"

"Collect yourself and sit down, Crown Prince!" King Aeon chided, which made Alan calm down a little bit. He sat down immediately.

The King then directed his eyes at Cane, observing him closely. The last time he lost his chance to get the mines, right now, he would make up for what he lost at that time. "Explain yourself."

Cane smirked coldly inside. He didn’t expect the King to be so impatient to get to this point. If Alan was smart enough, he should expect that from Cane. The King downplayed him spending a decade in slavery by saying it was only a bad experience, thus Alan being beaten up to death could also be downplayed to a simple brawl. Unfortunately, he was not that bright.

Corry was startled when he was put in the spotlight, but he couldn’t lie. "Yes, there were many people there, but your gamma beat up the Crown Prince..."

"They were brawling, of course someone might have gotten beaten up," Cane replied lightly.

King Aeon finally interjected before his son could humiliate himself even further, because he could see what kind of game that Cane was playing and this stupid son of his played right into his hands.

Cane intentionally provoked Alan, so he would lose his temper, and the council could see how incompetent the Crown Prince was to carry himself so poorly in such a situation. He failed to remain calm under the pressure.

"Sit down!" King Aeon growled at Alan, which made him clamp his mouth shut and sit down again, like a petulant child. "So, you admit your gamma has harmed the Crown?" He cut straight to the point, because Alan failed to focus on the main point in this matter.

Cane was silent for a while before he admitted it. "Yes." He couldn’t deny that if the King put it in that way.

"Guards! Take gamma Ethan away! I will punish him tomorrow!" That was how it should be done! Alan shouldn’t have been misled into playing Cane’s games or argued with him in the first place!

King Aeon looked satisfied, but before the guards could take the gamma away, Cane chimed in again. It was apparent Cane was not done yet.

"What about the insults that the Crown Prince threw at my gamma? Shouldn’t he deserve punishment too, especially after the insult that he threw at me."

"When did I insult you, you mutt!" Alan roared angrily, but what he said only proved Cane’s point.

Cane smirked, but he was done provoking the Crown Prince, as he got down to business with the king. "Not only that, Alpha Derick in the north said there is a strange pattern in the monster attacks in his pack and the sorcerer there found out the remnants of the Asturi stem, they said the substance could aggravate the monsters."

King Aeon’s eyes flickered with surprise when he heard that. He didn’t know they managed to find the remnants of the Asturi stem, since he didn’t get any report from his spy about it.

But, of course, he didn’t get any information about it, because Cane was only bluffing, yet seeing the King’s subtle reaction, he was sure now.

However, beside him, slightly standing behind, Iris caught something weird coming out of Cane’s hand. A dark wisp came from his palm and if you were not standing close enough, you wouldn’t notice this.

Iris looked around covertly, but no one seemed to have noticed this, because all of their attention was on the argument between Cane and the King.

Iris was not sure what that dark wisp was, but she sensed an ominous feeling from it, thus out of instinct, she clasped her hand with his, which made Cane stop talking and look at her.
