The Aloof Lord's Mysterious Wife
Chapter 778: So This Is What They Learned from You, Their Master

Chapter 778: So This Is What They Learned from You, Their Master

The disciples of Penglai Island showed no remorse or regret on their faces. "The bounty has been issued. You dare deceive us? You clearly have no respect for us, you’re looking for death!"

"Exactly! Killing just your son is already being lenient. If you keep shouting, we’ll let you all reunite as a family!"

"Hmph, attacking these powerless common folk won’t cost us much energy, but it’s still a hassle."

Their faces were filled with disdain.

The neighbors, seeing the family in distress, smirked. "You really are something. You wanted your son to stand out and join a big sect, but you go against the rules, hiding the monk with the bounty on his head. Your son is beyond saving. You might as well have another one."

The couple was devastated.

But deep down, they still hoped Shandu could escape while there was time, as it was also their son’s wish.

But the door to the house suddenly opened.

Shandu, weak and pale, leaned against the door frame for support to keep himself standing. His internal injuries were severe.

"Master!" the couple exclaimed, tears streaming down their faces. "You should leave now!"

Shandu’s voice was soft, "You saved and took care of me. How could I leave now?"

He glanced at the boy and threw a high-grade healing pill toward him. "Give this to him quickly!"

But the disciples of Penglai Island, seeing the pill, casually intercepted it and held it in their hands.

"Is this really a high-grade Wound-Healing Pill?" one of them said with delight. "Shandu, you monks from the Divine Buddha Sect are always poor. I didn’t expect you to have something like this hidden away!"

Shandu, filled with anger and urgency, said, "You and I practice cultivation, we shouldn’t commit murder! If you want to take me back, please, let me return the pill to save this child!"

Seeing Shandu in such a weak state, the Penglai Island disciples felt no fear. Instead, they began laughing.

"Shandu, you’re so kind! But if you want us to return the pill, you’ll have to show us some sincerity."

"Yeah, we’ve never seen one of Cinian’s disciples kneel before us," another disciple mocked.

The disciples of Cinian were known for their high standards and virtuous behavior. They had earned the admiration of Immortal World’s common folk for always doing good deeds without asking for anything in return.

In contrast, disciples from other sects were often looked down upon for their greed.

The monks, however, were despised by them, as they prevented the disciples from earning resources and spirit stones.

Now, they had the chance to humiliate one of their targets. They wouldn’t let it slip.

Shandu’s eyes reddened with anger.

The couple shook their heads at him, "Master, don’t..."

Shandu closed his eyes and, without a word, suddenly knelt.

His face and lips had turned even paler.

"Please, return the pill and save the child."

Even though he was kneeling, his back remained straight.

The disciples of Penglai Island exchanged looks and then burst into laughter.

"He really kneeled!"

"The great disciple of Cinian kneels before us!"

"Hahaha!"

Shandu endured the humiliation, his eyes still locked on them, his voice barely audible, "Please return the pill!"

His body trembled, revealing how enraged he was.

"No, we won’t return it!" the leading disciple sneered, still laughing.

"We never promised you anything."

Shandu’s eyes were filled with disbelief.

He clenched his fists, "You... are dishonest!"

"Tsk, we’re not fools," the Penglai Island disciple sneered.

Having gotten their fill of entertainment, they now intended to seize Shandu.

But Shandu’s anger had reached its peak.

"Since you are shameless, you have no right to live in this world!"

Still kneeling, he struck out with a powerful Buddhist palm.

The Buddha’s light spread out, filling the air.

The disciples of Penglai Island, caught off guard by Shandu’s sudden burst of energy, had no time to react.

They quickly formed a protective formation to resist the strike.

But Shandu’s full-powered blow was not something they could withstand.

In the blink of an eye, they were sent flying, crashing hard to the ground.

The disciples who hadn’t reached the Golden Core stage died instantly.

The one who had just broken through to the Golden Core stage was gravely injured, vomiting blood and unable to stand.

The neighbors, seeing what happened, quickly ran off.

Shandu, exhausted, collapsed on the ground, coughing up blood.

Although he had defeated the disciples, he had expended the last of his spiritual energy and didn’t have much time left to live.

"Quickly..." Shandu’s eyes signaled the couple to take the pill.

The man, steeling himself, picked up the pill from the dead disciples.

But he didn’t immediately give it to his son.

Instead, he held it up to Shandu’s lips. "Master, take it. You need it."

"No," Shandu said weakly. "I... cannot take it. Give it to your son."

"My son... he wants you to live."

"But I... have no more strength. Taking the pill would be a waste," Shandu said with difficulty.

The man hesitated.

He was about to give the pill to his son when suddenly a figure flew down, landing with a sword.

It was an elder from Penglai Island.

The Golden Core disciple, seeing the elder, was filled with excitement. "Master! You’ve finally arrived!"

This was the same elder who had argued with Sima Xin earlier. Though demoted to a second-rank elder, his strength was still formidable.

His name was Zhang Dan.

When he saw the dead and injured disciples, his face turned livid.

"I’ve always been harsh with you all, giving you everything I had. But to think you’re so useless you can’t even defeat a wounded monk!"

The Golden Core disciple hung his head, not daring to speak.

Zhang Dan was never truly as invested in his disciples as he claimed. It was because of his own talent that he broke through to Golden Core.

If he had to rely on teaching, he would have made no progress.

Zhang Dan shook his head in disappointment and turned to Shandu, saying slowly, "Take the pill. If you don’t, I’ll have to bring back a corpse."

The high-grade Wound-Healing Pill could keep Shandu alive, albeit for only a short time.

But these monks, so stubborn and foolish, preferred to die rather than let anyone else perish.

"No..." Shandu refused.

He knew what would happen to him if he was taken back. He didn’t want to drag down his master or Nanli.

Zhang Dan had expected this reaction.

He glanced at the couple, then said with a slow voice, "Shandu, if you don’t take the pill, I’ll have to kill them."

The high-grade healing pill was too precious for him to let it go to waste.

Shandu glared at Zhang Dan, his teeth clenched. "No wonder you are so shameless. You must have learned it all from your master."
