Chapter 433: Qing Feng, Have You Picked Out Your Coffin and Grave Yet?
Ye Siheng’s face turned increasingly dark. He stared at Qing Feng, his voice seething with cold anger as he said, "Qing Feng, have you picked out your coffin and grave yet? You’ll need them tomorrow."
Qing Feng shivered and took a step back, "W-Why, Your Highness, the Princess said I have a strong fate and am not someone who will die easily. I definitely won’t need them tomorrow."
He wanted to distance himself from Ye Siheng, perplexed at why the prince was so furious just for mentioning the princess’s feelings.
Nanli chuckled and tugged at Ye Siheng’s sleeve, "Stop scaring him. He looks like he’s going to faint."
Qing Feng nodded vigorously, shooting a grateful look at Nanli.
Ye Siheng kept his eyes fixed on Nanli, reluctant to look away. "A’Li, I was worried you might find me lacking, so I took extra care with my appearance."
He had never been particular about his appearance while traveling, but now he feared that A’Li might be disappointed.
Nanli blinked and smiled, "If I found you lacking, everyone would say I’ve gone blind."
Hearing this, Ye Siheng finally smiled, "A’Li has the best taste."
Otherwise, why would she choose him?
The two shared a brief moment of tenderness before Third Lord Xue’s urgent shout broke the silence, "Princess! The Ninth Princess! The fire is almost burning down the Xue residence!"
The Ghost Fire that failed to hit the Immortal Sect had landed on the Xue estate. Unlike ordinary flames, Ghost Fire could destroy everything and left behind a lingering ghostly aura that was hard to erase.
Third Lord Xue was distraught, seeing his ancestral home in flames.
Nanli glanced at the fire and said, "Just to clarify, this house is now mine. Its layout was poor, so it’s fine if it burns."
Third Lord Xue was speechless, unable to express his frustration.
Ghost Fire shouldn’t be allowed to burn in the Human World for long, or the ghostly aura would be difficult to cleanse.
"I’ll put out the fire," Nanli told Ye Siheng.
Ye Siheng replied, "Go ahead. I’ll handle the aftermath here."
Having received a report from Black Armor Guard and witnessing the situation firsthand, he had a rough idea of what had transpired.
Nanli nodded. Since the estate was now her property, she couldn’t let the ghostly aura spread, as it would make the place uninhabitable in the future.
She put away her hairpin and set to work extinguishing the flames.
Meanwhile, the Xue family in the front yard had little to no composure left. Particularly Shuang’er, who had witnessed her mistress’s death and the Immortal Sect’s protection, leaving her with shattered hopes of seeing the Immortal World.
She resented Nanli for ruining her chances and glared at Ye Siheng, "You offended the immortals. You’ll surely meet a bad end!"
Ye Siheng glanced at her indifferently.
Before he could speak, Lady Xue jumped out from the corridor, "It’s her! This lowly maid released the evil spirits that killed my Xue family members and caused my son’s death!"
Unable to confront the deceased Xue Shengnan, Lady Xue vented her rage on Shuang’er.
The rest of the Xue family joined in, beating Shuang’er mercilessly. Only Third Lord Xue refrained from physical attacks but didn’t intervene to stop them.
It was all a matter of karma.
The Xue family had wronged Xue Shengnan, leading to their demise. Shuang’er’s actions had caused the death of many Xue family members, and now she had to face the consequences.
In the end, the Xue family was too exhausted to continue.
Shuang’er lay bloodied and on the verge of death.
Ye Siheng, however, looked at Third Lord Xue, "Are you the Third Lord Xue?"
Third Lord Xue, trembling, bowed his head, "Yes."
"Lord Xue is dead. You will inventory the Xue family’s assets and transfer them to A’Li’s name immediately. Do you understand?" Ye Siheng instructed.
Third Lord Xue was taken aback, finally understanding the Ninth Prince’s intentions.
"I will handle it promptly," Third Lord Xue assured.
Soon, Nanli extinguished the Ghost Fire and collected the ghostly aura. Returning, she didn’t rush off but took the time to remove the earlier inscribed talismans from Third Lord Xue’s family.
As she pulled them off, spiritual energy started seeping out again.
Nanli drew a sealing talisman over the symbols, trapping the energy within the yellow talismans.
Though Third Lord Xue didn’t fully grasp the significance, he knew that they had felt overwhelming spiritual energy earlier, which had caused discomfort. Now, with the talismans from the Ninth Princess, they felt relief.
"Thank you, Ninth Princess," Third Lord Xue expressed with heartfelt gratitude.
Nanli, feeling pleased with the amount of spiritual energy she had gathered from the talismans and hairpin, was momentarily taken aback by his thanks. "Hmm?"
Third Lord Xue, seeing her raised eyebrow, hurriedly said, "I know the rules! I just didn’t know how much Ninth Princess would charge. If possible... could it be a little less?"
It wasn’t due to stinginess but the cost of burying the Xue family and arranging for the others, which would require significant funds. He feared his family’s assets wouldn’t be enough.
Nanli looked at them.
Their appearance had improved greatly after receiving spiritual nourishment, and she realized that their family had acted as vessels for spiritual energy. She decided to let it be as a good deed.
"You don’t need to pay," Nanli decided, "I don’t want the house either. You can continue living here, but everything else must be accounted for."
Having inspected the estate while extinguishing the fire, she found its feng shui poor, which explained the Xue family’s decline.
Given the house’s history of deaths and extensive damage, it was not worth keeping. Even if given away, no one would dare live there, so she decided against accepting it.
Third Lord Xue misunderstood Nanli’s intentions.
He was moved to tears, kneeling and saying, "Ninth Princess, we will never forget your great kindness!"
The Third Mistress and her children also knelt, expressing their gratitude.
Nanli was stunned, "Why are you kneeling? The house wasn’t worth much; I just didn’t want it."
So there was no need for such displays.
Yet, Third Lord Xue was even more touched, tears streaming down his face, "Wuwuwu, Ninth Princess even considered my feelings..."
Fearing they might be embarrassed, he thought the Ninth Princess’s refusal to take the house was out of kindness. She was truly kind-hearted!
Nanli twitched her mouth, too tired to explain, "I hope you will do good deeds in the future as a way to repay me."
Third Lord Xue choked up, nodding vigorously.
The princess’s advice was law for him!
Previously he had occasionally done good deeds, but now he would lead his family to do good every day, to truly honor the princess’s kindness!
