Chapter 415: Killing Those Who Have Wronged Me

Chu Huan’s face was as cold as frost, his chest heaving violently.

The two bodyguards, who were not supposed to speak, could no longer tolerate Lady Xue’s aggressive behavior. They stepped forward and stood in front of Chu Huan.

One of the bodyguards, having guessed that Lady Xue’s bold words were likely related to the handkerchief, sneered coldly, "Lady Xue, a mere handkerchief is not enough to ruin Third Young Master’s reputation."

Lady Xue, believing they were from the Marquis’s household, didn’t show much concern. At this point, she was determined to force Chu Huan’s hand.

"That handkerchief has his name embroidered on it. Chu Huan, you surely understand the power of public opinion. People don’t care whether it’s true or not; as long as your reputation is damaged, it will affect your future promotions. Moreover, no respectable young lady will look at a dissolute person like you."

Her implication was clear: if Chu Huan refused the Xue family, he would never marry into another good family.

The bodyguard laughed derisively and waved the handkerchief in front of Lady Xue, deliberately showing the name "Chu Huan" to make sure she and her daughter could see it clearly.

"What’s with the handkerchief..." Xue Yan’er’s face turned pale as she recognized it.

Lady Xue looked at her son still unconscious on the couch and was furious that her son had used it to blackmail Chu Huan but ended up failing and getting himself knocked out instead. This ungrateful son had harmed his sister and the entire family!

Without the handkerchief, they had lost their leverage. It was no wonder Chu Huan had warned them not to dig their own graves.

Now that they had offended Chu Huan, what could they do?

The bodyguard continued, "Lady Xue, you should know that empty accusations won’t convince anyone. Even if you had this handkerchief, how could our prince allow your family to spread rumors?"

Another bodyguard added, "Indeed, silencing a few mouths is not difficult. Even if you can’t, you can make sure they never speak again."

Lord Xue and his family staggered, nearly losing their balance.

They were dealing with people under the Ninth Prince! They had gotten themselves into serious trouble.

Determined to act, Lord Xue glared at Lady Xue and slapped her several times, "How dare you do such a thing and deceive even me? You ignorant woman, do you know what trouble you’ve brought to the family?"

After a few blows, Lady Xue’s face was swollen, her hair disheveled, and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. She collapsed to the ground, dazed.

"Mother!" Xue Yan’er cried out, rushing to protect Lady Xue.

Lady Xue realized that her husband was pushing her out to take the blame, trying to clear the Xue family’s name. Though her heart was cold, she knew there was no better solution.

She wept, "Third Young Master Chu, I was blinded by seeing Yan’er’s deep affection for you. I was momentarily possessed and acted foolishly. I’m now bowing and admitting my mistake. Please, show mercy and spare me this time."

She bowed deeply, her head hitting the ground with loud thuds, blood staining her forehead.

Seeing the Ninth Prince involved, Xue Yan’er also felt panic. She clearly remembered the harsh conditions of prison.

While she wasn’t as fearless as her mother, tears still flowed, and her nose ran, losing all grace.

"Third Young Master, my infatuation led my mother to this. It’s fine if you disregard my feelings, but please spare my mother. I will never trouble you again."

Seeing their family’s reaction, Chu Huan’s frown deepened. The anger he had felt earlier had dissipated completely.

As a gentleman and scholar, he didn’t wish to hold a grudge against them.

"I will overlook this matter, but remember what was said today. If I hear any rumors about me or the Chu family in the future, I will hold you accountable."

Lord Xue sighed with relief, "Third Young Master, rest assured. I will ensure that they behave properly and do not cause any more trouble."

Lady Xue and Xue Yan’er, relieved to escape a worse fate, saw their expressions soften.

Lord Xue then prepared to escort Chu Huan out of the residence.

"There’s no need," Chu Huan replied courteously, "I know the way."

Lord Xue, as the head of the household, had failed to manage his family properly and had even participated himself, now shifting the blame to his wife. Such an unprincipled and irresponsible man, Chu Huan had no desire to deal with further. No wonder the Xue family was declining.

If things continued like this, the Xue family would soon collapse.

But that was not his concern. He felt uncomfortable staying in the Xue residence any longer.

As Chu Huan and his two bodyguards were about to leave, Lord Xue, though discontent, forced a smile and followed them out.

At the gate, a woman appeared. The Xue family’s guards were stunned at first, then shouted, "Shuang’er?! It’s Shuang’er!"

She was a wanted criminal!

Lord Xue was shocked, quickly stepping forward to check, "It really is you, you wretched girl! Hurry, capture her!"

If they caught Shuang’er, they would certainly be able to capture his daughter. He loathed Xue Shengnan intensely, blaming her for the family’s poor reputation. Others mocked him for not properly educating his daughter.

Once he captured his eldest daughter, he planned to vent his anger thoroughly.

The Xue family’s guards reacted quickly, rushing to seize Shuang’er.

Shuang’er showed a hint of panic but quickly regained her composure. Mimicking her young lady, she chanted a spell and threw two Fire Talismans. The guards at the front burst into flames, their clothes and skin burning rapidly.

The two burning men rolled on the ground, screaming in agony.

The other guards were terrified and hurriedly retreated.

Seeing their fear, Shuang’er felt a surge of satisfaction. She remembered how they had bullied her before!

No wonder her young lady could kill without blinking; killing those who had wronged her felt so exhilarating!

Thoughts of blood-stained hands and hell after death were cast aside.

Smirking coldly, she took the most satisfying steps of her life, surveying the courtyard with disdain, "Today, by my lady’s command, I will cleanly eliminate each and every one of you!"

"You wretched girl!" Lord Xue scolded angrily, "I am her real father! Does she not fear divine retribution for such madness?!"

Shuang’er raised an eyebrow, "Master, my lady has lived humbly and endured much to survive all these years. You never fulfilled your responsibilities as a father. How could killing you bring divine retribution?"
