Tang San’s Twin Sister -
Chapter 144
Tang Yin felt her body rise from the ground limp like a limp ragdoll. She slumped as her body twirled in mid air. Her sight was still gone. She could only guess from the movements. Pain ran through her body. Honestly, everything hurt; she felt each bone and part of her body she hadn't even known could hurt like this. But somehow, her head concluded, she had done it.
Climbed all 444 Steps.
Rising upwards, she felt the anger and fury that had filled her fade away, leaving her behind feeling slightly hollow. To begin with, she was not someone who held a grudge for too long under normal circumstances. For a brief moment, she wondered why she had even gotten angry at all, after all, how many people got a second shot at life at all?
You did well.
A voice muttered in her head, and she gasped, her voice a faint rasp. It was almost gone.
"Thanks for the flowers, I guess." She squeezed out her voice in a raspy whisper, but she refused to give anything less than a proper answer.
Your rewards will be according, but sadly, I cannot restore what is already lost, only mend what was broken.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
I cannot save your arm. I can only save your life and make it easier for you in the future. By helping your body endure, I am sure I can conquer your weakness someday.
The voice said, and she nodded as a gentle warmth enveloped her. She felt it seeping inside her, filling her to the brim as the cracks on her skin slowly mended back together. Their iridescent glow vanished as slightly but healthily tanned skin closed over it.
She blinked as she was whole again, and her sight returned. It was still slightly blurry but became clearer and clearer each second. Making a quick self-check, She noted. She was whole, no broken bones, not hurt anymore.
Only...her arm was missing. Merely a stump remained about two centimeters below her shoulder, and her glove was floating next to her.
She twisted and grabbed it before Gravity returned, and she was jerked downwards by it.
Then her feet hit the stairs as she felt a voice announcing.
Tang Yin, Sea and Moon God's first Trial passed. Rewards, body tempering, and healing, all spirit rings' age rose by 400 years. Spirit power seven levels up. Closeness to the moon has risen by 5 percent.
Tang Yin looked upwards when the voice dimmed, and then she felt the knowledge of her next test seep into her mind.
She had to survive three hours against the great white sharks, and she blinked...and gain her next spirit ring from a millennium carp.
Well damn she was happy she even remembered what a Millennium Carp was. Hail Jiang and nightly excursions.
She walked down the stairs and ended up in front of Yu Hua with a smile, shoving everything inside her except the joy of passing and the excitement to have gone further.
"I did it, " she announced, putting her remaining hand on her hip. "A limp less but alive and..." Yu Hua stepped towards her.
"I know." Then he hugged her. '"You were fucking amazing."
"I know I always am." She muttered and closed her eyes for comfort before letting him go and walking up to Bo Saixi.
The loss of her arm bothered her less than she expected right now.
Well, it had been an on-and-off for years. The sensitivity had been so bad it was like it didn't exist anymore, hardly speaking about properly using it in anything but basic motions, which needed to be continuously practiced and controlled with a lot of focus.
"Congratulations." Bo Saixi said. "Few would have been able to do as you have done and surpass their limit."
"Surpass?" Tang Yin tilted her head. "What do you mean?"
"You walked further, brat." Hai Long, the sea dragon Doulou stepped forward. "You walked further than the 444 steps assigned."
"I did?" She muttered. "I can't really say. At that point, I couldn't see anything anymore. I mean, I was as good as blind."
Silence reigned among them as they cast a look at each other but refrained from speaking. Tang Yin decided she didn't want to know either.
"That being said. I must survive a few hours among white devil sharks and soon gain a new spirit ring. I am now level 49."
"Is your body dealing with it well?" Yu Hua asked her, and she did a trial of spirit power running through her body.
It felt good—better than ever before. If she were honest, she couldn't remember feeling so good when using her spirit power since she first awakened it. Nothing hurt, nothing felt off, nothing strange.
"Honestly, I have never felt better." She said. "Except ... the missing arm." She moved the small stump from her missing arm.
Suddenly, Hai Long kneeled down, observing it. "It will cause problems. Unbalance you as a swordsman."
"I will be fine. I think." She said, and suddenly, the sea dragon douluos hand went to her head and ruffled her hair.
"No, it is not." He said. "It is a limp missing. No one puts that away like it is nothing."
"But I always knew I would eventually lose this arm." She said, blinking at him, and utter silence filled the group. No one said anything as she tilted her head. They all had known about her condition, and they should have expected she would eventually lose her arm. "I expected it."
The price we had to pay.
The voice commented, and Tang Yin grinned at them.
"It was the price I expected to pay. Which makes me think." She took a step back, ignoring them, summoning her swords. One was firmly in her hand, and the other was floating.
She swang it downwards with as much force as she could muster. It left behind a small mark on the ground. Her body was fine.
"See nothing." She confidently said and twirled around. "I can use it without nearly killing myself. Isn't it awesome?"
Yu Hua smiled as the others looked befuddled at her, "I could not care less about losing her arm when I get a better chance at living."
And loose fewer memories. She silently added.
"Let's go," Yu Hua said and smiled in an attempt to change topic, looking at the group. "I prepared some fried chicken today to celebrate. Would you like to come along? I promise my cooking skills are decent."
"More like they are actually pretty good." Tang Yin commented. "At this point."
