She felt a roar thundering against her. The pressure got worse, so she opened her mouth and raised her head, roaring right back at whatever was roaring at her with a cry wrenched from her throat.

Then she stooped another step and, keeping her gaze straight forward, marched on. She ignored everything around her, her gaze firmly on the goal. Her accumulated spirit power raged malevolently through her body at this point. It hurt so much that she wanted to whine and break down, but she could not; she was not someone to cry.

Her legs gave out, and she fell on her knees.

Wheezing, she looked upwards at the numbers carved into the steps.

250

She gritted her teeth, placed her hands on the stairs, and rose back up. Glancing at her arms, she noted. There was only one hand. The other one was only a stump left.

Letting out a wail, she took the next step, and if she had to crawl the entire way up there, she would.

Her spirit power swelled as she continued, her legs weak.

Her wings still help her keep uptight.

"She is not going to make it." Ou Ya, the seahorse douluo hissed. "She is barely halfway there and already falling and stumbling."

Yu Hua turned around and glared at him. "How about you shut up? " he hissed. "She is going to make it." Then he turned back around and watched as she kept on going. "She will make it." He whispered. "It's Yin."

Yin kept on marching. At this point, she didn't dare look at her right arm anymore; her knees burned like fire. Her march grew more and more antagonizing with each step, but she didn't dare slow down. She unleashed her martial spirits, the river grass coiling around her legs, giving them support, and her swords swirling around her, shining dazzling silver against the gold of her surroundings.

She looked downwards.

298

Almost 300.

She continued walking.

Her spirits shone brighter and brighter, the crimson of her spirit ring enveloping her. As she continued, her body was supported by heavenly mystery art in a silvery sheen.

She went on and on, not even bothering to acknowledge the feelings and threats thundering into her. They were of no consequence; she had a goal to reach. Only the goal counted; everything else was secondary.

Her feet stepped on it as the number materialized in gold.

300

Then she went on. Step by step, antagonizing inch by inch.

Her hearing was at some point gone, her sight not entirely clear, but her legs were working; as long as they worked, she could keep going. Blood dripped down her nose, the red wandering down her skin to drop from her chin. She stuck out her tongue and licked it up before it could drop, the coppery taste in her mouth wanting to make her vomit.

Eventually, that thought vanished. She let it drop down, red spots appearing on the stairs. But throughout the entire time, she hadn't slowed down at all as she continued.

350, she let out a gasp.

100 to go.

Her steps have now started to slow significantly. The spirit power in her spirit bone, accumulated and stored over the course of one year and more years, was starting to wane.

Her glove was now swaying in the wind, ripping at her. She barely noticed from the elbow downwards.

Everything beneath is gone. Cracks of blue formed and spread on her body, wandering up her cheek.

She kept going.

387

399

She glared at the next step, not that she could see it anymore. Her sight was dark and narrowed, almost to the point of blindness.

"Come on, Yin," Yu Hua said as he saw Tang Yin stop short before 400, looking beaten and broken. The air around them tingled as he gulped, and she took the next step, and the atmosphere itself changed.

Swaying and blue glitters coming from her body, she walked up. Keep on going.

401

402

Yu Hua almost couldn't watch anymore as he wanted to turn away but couldn't, his gaze fixed on her back. He owed it to his friend to keep on watching.

Wincing as she kept going, sharp breaths of air were drawn behind him.

Tang Yin herself just felt pain, and her sight was gone; the only thing in her head was to keep on going. Further and further, one after another.

One more.

One more.

Her mind kept telling her. She was bone-deep, exhausted, her spirit power almost gone as she fell forward, catching herself with her wings. Looking forward, she wanted to know where she was, but her sight refused to cooperate. She could no longer see where she was.

Then, all she had to do was keep going. Blood dripped from her ears, wetting her hair as she whinched.

Slowly but certainly, she felt how she grew angry; why was fate so shitty? Why did it seem like her new life didn't want her all the way, setting her up to fail and die at every turn?

She rose back.

Anger burning bright inside her, undiluted fury, she rose and then took another step. What did it matter where she was? For better or worse, she could just climb all the way to the top if that was what it took.

Who cared about step 444.

Her fury took over.

About destiny.

Screw destiny.

Screw gods.

She screamed, her voice a desperate, fury-filled echo as she continued on.

Beneath her feet, a golden light appeared.

443

She rose upwards, placing her foot on the next step. Her body now broke. She heard it, felt it, as her leg made an ominous sound. Her entire arm was gone, too; she knew it. There was only a little stump left to go.

Still, she rose. Once again, taking a step.

444

Something lessened, but she could no longer understand. The only thing still existing inside her was anger, fury, so much of it spilled over in a shout she let against the stairs and into her taking another step. The sky rumbled above her, the gold shining brighter.

Below her were gasps. Pale faces at the sound of the fury inside the shout they all had heard.

"Oh, god of the sea." Bo Saixi muttered as Tang Yin walked another step upwards.

445

"Impossible," Hai Long said and took a step forward while Yu Hua started laughing, sounding desperate and breathless at the same time. His laughter boomed through the shocked atmosphere as Tang Yin took yet another step. Not stopping, she pushed on.

446

"Only Tang Yin could." He said, as above them, the sky started to warp and was filled with clouds, almost as if a tempest was about to break loose.
