Chapter 386: Survived
Standing not far from the spiritual spring pool, Hu Yunqing took out Hu Wenfeng’s Soul Lamp from her spiritual palace. She waved her hand, and a red light flew out of the soul lamp. In the next second, a huge nine-tailed red fox appeared in the air and slowly descended into the water.
Seeing that her younger brother was still in a coma, Hu Yunqing put away his soul lamp and walked out of the spiritual spring pool. As for Hu Wenfeng, although he is now in a coma, he is still aware of what is happening around him.
Two hours ago, he was still resting peacefully while healing his injuries, feeling Huan Yun’s warmth and breath is very close to him. But now, although the spiritual energy is very dense and his internal injuries are recovering faster, he is restless and his body is unable to heal properly.
The moment Hu Yunqing brought him out of the cave, Huan Yun’s breath disappeared. At this moment, he suddenly heard Huan Yun’s scream filled with fear and despair inside his mind. Unable to control himself anymore, Hu Wenfeng used his mental power to force himself to wake up.
"Cough, cough!"
As soon as he woke up, he coughed up a lot of blood. Hu Wenfeng was panting heavily when saw his reflection on the water. He was stunned when he saw the red fox looking back at him with widened eyes. After a moment of silence, he raised his hand and looked down, only to see a big furry right front leg in front of him.
Refusing to believe that he showed his true form in front of Huan Yun, Hu Wenfeng trembled all over. He stared at the reflection on the water for a long time before whispering in despair: "... It’s over. Seeing me like this, Yun Yun must have been disgusted to death."
After a moment of silence, he closed his eyes and tried to transform back into his human form, but failed several times. He looked at his furry paws, clenched them, shook his head and said, "No. No matter what, I need to save Yun Yun. If she is afraid of me after seeing my true form, then I can just protect her from afar."
With this in mind, he decided to find Huan Yun even in his true form. Unfortunately, as soon as he took a step, his consciousness slowly disappeared. Hu Wenfeng refused to succumb to the darkness and forcefully took a step forward, but an invisible force fixed his body in place. After a few seconds, he fell down slowly to the water as darkness engulfed his mind.
When Hu Wenfeng fell into a coma again, Huan Yun was also in a coma, lying motionlessly on the ground. She survived after she managed to grab a few dry branches when she fell down to slow down the falling speed. While she was still lying on the ground with minor and serious injuries all over her body, a young man and a little girl walked towards her direction.
The girl saw the blood on the ground and said in surprise, "Elder Brother, look. There is blood on the ground."
A tall and handsome man looked where his younger sister was pointing at and saw dried blood. Judging from the color of the blood on the ground, the blood should have been on the ground for a while. He pulled his sword out from its scabbard and said, "Be careful and stay close to me."
The girl nodded to him, and then grabbed the hem or her elder brother’s clothes. The man followed the bloodstains for a while before he saw a young woman covered in blood lying on the ground motionlessly.
The girl exclaimed, pointed at Huan Yun and said, "Elder Brother, there is someone."
The man put his left index finger on his lips and whispered, "Be careful of the barbarians."
The girl nodded quickly and covered her mouth with her hands. The two of them then walked towards Huan Yun, and the man remained alert as he observed the area around him.
Seeing that Huan Yun was the only one there and that this was not a trap, the man breathed a sigh of relief, and said, "Xue’er, you stay here. Elder Brother will go and check on her."
The girl nodded, and then the man walked up to Huan Yun. When he stood three steps away from her, the man frowned when he saw Huan Yun’s injuries. He came closer, knelt beside her, and stretched out his right hand.
Putting his index finger under Huan Yun’s nose, he was surprised to feel her faint breathing. The man looked at her for a moment, then at his younger sister. Thinking of their current situation, he stood up and walked back to his younger sister.
Seeing her elder brother coming back, the girl asked, "Elder Brother, is she alright?"
The man didn’t speak for a few seconds before shaking his head and said, "She is still alive, but it won’t be long before she dies. Judging from her injuries, it was already a miracle for her to survive until now."
He looked up at the high cliff and said, "From the traces and her falling location, she should have fallen from the cliff."
The girl looked up and asked, "Why did she climb up the cliff? There is nothing there."
The man shook his head and said, "I don’t think she was climbing up the cliff. From the broken dry branches scattered around her, she should have climbed down from the cliff and fallen down."
His younger sister looked at Huan Yun and asked curiously, "Since she came down from above, how did she climb up to that cliff in the first place?"
The man looked at Huan Yun thoughtfully, shook his head and calmly said, "I don’t know."
Seeing her elder brother just staring at Huan Yun, the little girl asked, "Elder Brother, what should we do now?"
