Chapter 315: I’ll Wait
A day later, after much pleading and assurance from Rain that she would follow the rules, the doctors finally allowed her to visit Alexander inside the ICU.
She was in a wheelchair, still weak from her injuries, but her resolve was stronger than ever.
Sanya wheeled her to the door, pausing just before entering. "Rain, remember, don’t overexert yourself. The machines monitor everything, so if his vitals spike, we’ll need to step out," Sanya reminded her gently.
Rain nodded, her eyes fixed on Alexander through the glass. "I understand. Thank you, Sanya."
The door slid open with a soft hiss, and the sterile scent of the ICU greeted her. Machines beeped rhythmically, and the sight of Alexander lying there, motionless, with tubes and monitors surrounding him, made her heart ache.
Tears welled in her eyes, but she blinked them away, refusing to break down again. Sanya parked her wheelchair beside the bed and quietly stepped out, giving her privacy.
Rain reached out, her trembling hand gently wrapping around Alexander’s. His skin was warm, a small comfort in the cold reality of the room.
"Alexander," she whispered, her voice quivering. "I’m here. I’ll always be here." She leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to his hand, her tears spilling onto his skin. "You saved me. You always save me... but now it’s my turn. You have to come back to me, Alexander. I can’t do this without you."
She held his hand tightly, her thumb brushing over his knuckles. "Do you remember our promise? That no matter what happens, we’ll face everything together? You’ve kept that promise. Now, I need you to wake up so we can keep going... together."
Her voice cracked as she continued. "I need you to open your eyes and yell at me for being reckless. Tell me to stay safe. Just... just come back to me, Alexander."
The steady beeping of the monitors was her only response, but Rain refused to let despair consume her.
She rested her forehead on his hand, her lips brushing against it in another tender kiss. "I’ll wait as long as it takes," she whispered. "You hear me? I’m not giving up on you."
Rain stayed there for what felt like hours, pouring her love and hope into every word she said, every touch she gave.

At Clayton Mansion
Sylvia was hysterical. "This is your fault! Why did you let Dina get involved with that madman?!" she screamed at Tim, her voice raw with anger and grief.
Dina was now detained, forbidden from receiving visitors, and scheduled to be transferred to prison once her face healed from reconstructive surgery. The Lancasters were adamant that she wouldn’t keep Rain’s face on hers, ensuring her old face was restored.
Tim gritted his teeth, his patience wearing thin. "It wasn’t my choice! It was hers! You knew full well that your daughter wanted this!" he snapped, his voice dripping with frustration.
Sylvia’s face twisted in fury. "My daughter?! She’s our daughter, Tim! How could you let this happen? How could you sacrifice her like this?!" Overcome with emotion, she pounded her fists against his chest, sobbing uncontrollably.
Tim’s expression darkened as he grabbed her wrists, holding them tightly to stop her. His voice dropped to a menacing growl. "She’s not my daughter," he said through clenched teeth.
Sylvia froze, her face paling as his words sank in. "What are you talking about?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Tim’s glare was cold and unforgiving. "Do you really think you managed to fool me all these years?" he mocked, his tone laced with bitterness.
Sylvia gasped, her lips quivering. "You knew? Since when?" she asked, her voice barely audible.
"Since the beginning," Tim hissed. With a sudden shove, he pushed her away, causing her to stumble and fall to the floor.
She stared up at him, shock and shame written all over her face. "You... you knew?" she repeated, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Yes, I knew," Tim spat. "You think I wouldn’t notice?"
"It’s all your fault!" Sylvia screamed, pointing fingers at him. "You married me, but you barely touch me. And the few times you did, you couldn’t even hide it... you kept moaning her name. Lydia!" She sneered, her anger boiling over. "Even after she died, you were still obsessed with her! Do you really expect me to have stayed loyal to you after that?"
Tim’s face contorted with disgust as he growled, "Whore! Be grateful that I took you in and even married you."
"You married me out of convenience, not love! You used me to fill the void she left, while you spent every waking moment worshipping her memory! Lydia wasn’t just your obsession; she was your entire world, even when she was gone!" Sylvia shouted.
Tim’s lip curled in disgust. "And that gave you the right to betray me? To bring another man’s child into my home and pass her off as mine?" he accused, his voice rising.
Sylvia’s tears intensified as she finally broke. "I was desperate, Tim! Desperate for someone to notice me, to care for me, to make me feel alive! Dina was my chance to have something of my own, something untouched by your twisted devotion to a dead woman!"
Tim’s expression was one of utter disdain as he stared down at Sylvia, who was now trembling on the floor. "And look where that desperation got you. You’re a pathetic woman," he said coldly, his voice dripping with contempt.
Sylvia clutched her chest, tears streaming down her face. Her breathing grew shallow, and her sobs turned desperate. "My daughter... What will happen to my daughter..." she cried, her voice broken and weak.
Tim sneered, his patience long gone. "Your daughter? You only had one job, to take care of her, and yet you couldn’t even do that right. Now our family is under scrutiny! Rain knows we colluded with Michael, and you’d better start behaving in front of her if you don’t want this to get any worse," he snapped, his words like daggers.
Sylvia gasped, shaking her head as if denying the weight of his accusations. But Tim wasn’t finished. His voice was sharp and unrelenting. "You’ve brought shame to this family. And Dina? I raised that girl to be useful, to play her part. But in the end, she was just as useless as you."
Sylvia’s sobs grew louder, but Tim didn’t care. He turned his back on her, muttering to himself as he walked away. ’Michael failed. Dina failed. And now my plans are falling apart because of them.’ His thoughts churned with frustration and anger as he left Sylvia alone.
