Supreme Husband System! & Supreme Wife System!
Chapter 282 - 282: Yes, Miss Irene, this is Ethan

Everyone whose phone rang answered the call. After a few seconds, surprise was reflected on their faces, which was soon replaced by seriousness.

"What?" Arslan exclaimed, barely able to contain his emotions after hearing what the caller had told him. "How is it possible for the entire group of the Queens Guild to disappear?"

Idan noticed that almost no one expressed surprise, and everyone present had a serious expression on their faces. He realized that the others had probably received similar information too.

"What exactly happened?" asked Idan when everyone, including Arslan, had finished talking. However, no one bothered to answer him.

Arslan got up immediately after the bell rang and headed for the exit without further ado. All the members of his Guild followed him, including Milla, who, after hesitating for a bit and glancing at Idan, also left.

Milena also stood up as soon as Arslan got up, and after giving Idan one last cold look, she followed the departing members of the Defenders Guild.

After them, the other leaders of the two Guilds left the room, accompanied by their associates, and the representatives of the Awakened Association followed the Awakened ones.

Only Idan's group and the military representatives remained in the room.

"What happened?" — Idan asked the military, who didn't seem to be in too much of a hurry compared to the others.

"Mr. Ethan, the Queen's Guild group that went to patrol the border this morning has not returned," the military leader reported. "According to preliminary data, this was a routine border check mission performed by Awakened Members from all Guilds. It was the turn of the Queens Guild today."

Although the military did not like Ethan much, like the others, they knew that he was a Gold-ranked Awakened, unlike them, mere mortals. Therefore, the military decided to share information with him.

"The group kept in touch until noon, but in the afternoon it stopped contacting. There were no danger reports or distress calls. Usually, groups going on such missions have several devices for communication and sending distress signals in case of unforeseen circumstances," the military said.

At that moment, he noticed that Idan was looking at him seriously, which had not been in his gaze before. Before that, Idan had been relaxed and even a little arrogant, but now his behavior has changed, which greatly surprised the military.

"And?" asked Idan, catching the surprised look of the military man and his hesitation.

"Oh right... there were no news or distress calls after noon. When they did not return by the appointed time, the military sent a group to search. However, after walking the entire route, they did not find any traces."

"Hmm..." Idan began to mentally analyze the information he had received.

"Surprisingly, the search party did not find any signs of fighting, let alone traces of the movement of the Queen's Guild group itself," the military added.

Idan's frown deepened. It was really weird.

"Ned, please keep an eye on Arslan, the brother of the Hostess, for a while," Idan mentally addressed Ned. Hearing his Master's request, Ned got up without another word and hurried out.

"Where did he go?" asked Arabel, noticing that Ned had quickly left them. She was sure that such a devoted Ned would not have left without Idan's request or order.

"I asked Ned to keep an eye on your brother," Idan replied. "Something strange is happening here. Didn't you notice?"

"I'm sorry, Dan, I was a little distracted and didn't follow the situation closely," Arabel apologized. She hasn't fully figured out the side effect yet. Therefore, during Idan's conversation with the representative of the Association, Arabel's emotions were not so calm. All this time, she could barely contain herself. She didn't have time to assess the whole situation. Her attention was focused on only three people: Idan, Arslan, and Milena.

"Tell me, isn't the military deliberately restricting access to the network?" asked Idan bluntly, looking the military man in the eye.

The soldier, noticing Idan's serious look, nodded, confirming his suspicions.

"How can I contact other cities?" — after receiving confirmation, Idan immediately got down to business, trying to figure out how to contact his sister. He had a lot of questions he wanted to ask.

"We have an access point on the main base from where you can get in touch. But to use it, you need to register and get permission," the military said.

"Good. Then let's go to your base. Aren't you heading there now?" asked Idan, returning his polite smile to his face. "Can you give me a ride?"

Soon, Idan's group, accompanied by military personnel in military vehicles, left the branch of the Awakened Association. Surprisingly, no one tried to stop them.

"By the way, I'm wondering why the military restricts access to the network?" Idan asked the military man as they got into the armored SUVs.

"As we were told, we are restricting access so as not to cause panic among the residents of the Federation due to the news about the situation at the border. This situation is observed not only in this city, but also in many others on the border. Beasts attacks have become more frequent recently, and the top leadership does not want this news to spread and cause panic," the military replied.

Idan found this answer too superficial. If that were all it was about, there would be no point in limiting communication to the Awakened. Therefore, Idan came to the conclusion that there was another reason why the military was restricting access to the network, which he did not know.

Meanwhile, it was already dark outside, and the SUVs, moving at medium speed under the headlights, reached the base without traffic jams and delays. There was no large crowd of people in the city, which allowed them to easily cover the distance.

After passing through the checkpoint and presenting their Awakened ID cards, Idan and Arabel, being Gold-rank Awakened, gained access to the territory without any problems.

Arabel looked curiously at the military base. It was the first time for her to see so many military personnel and military equipment in one place.

Idan, who was visiting this place for the second time, noticed her interest and began to share his knowledge through a mental link. He talked about various techniques and weapons, and Arabel just smiled, understanding his enthusiasm.

While the military man went about his business, Idan and Arabel silently followed him, communicating with each other. For a short time, it was like they were in their own little world.

The military man who brought them took responsibility from the very beginning and helped them register, and then get all the necessary permits and establish communication with other cities.

After receiving permission, Idan found a secluded room, connected his smartphone to an access point and dialed his sister's number.

After a few rings, Irene picked up the phone.

"Is this Irene Fein?" asked Idan, but not in his own voice, but in Ethan Goldwing's voice. He knew that the network was controlled by the military, so he decided to call as Ethan, not as Irene's brother.

When Irene saw Idan's number, she immediately realized who was calling, but decided to remain silent and wait for Idan to speak first.

When she heard her brother addressing her, and hearing a completely different voice, she immediately guessed what was going on and asked:

"Ethan?"

"Yes, Miss Irene, this is Ethan," Idan confirmed, and both brother and sister immediately understood what needed to be done.

"Did you get to Rumbus?" asked Irene.

"Yes, Miss Irene, we have successfully reached Rumbus and are currently at the military base," Idan replied.

"I'm glad to hear it. I was already starting to worry about you two," Irene said. Before her brother could ask about Esme, she decided to share the news with him.: "Your friend is fine."

"Thank you for looking after her," Idan said. "We ran into Arslan today, but we haven't had a chance to talk in private yet, so we haven't been able to complete your personal assignment." With these words, Idan was hinting that Arslan still didn't know that he was Idan and that her older sister was back and alive.

"I see. I hope you will find time soon to fulfill my request," said Irene.

"Of course. You can count on us," Idan said with confidence. Right after that, he decided to share the current situation.

"Miss Irene, there is some important news. Recently, all the awakened and military in the city found out that the group sent by your Queens Guild disappeared during a patrol mission."

There was silence.

"What?" came Irene's uncertain voice after a short pause.

"Miss Irene, I'm saying that the group sent by your Guild disappeared during a patrol mission," Idan repeated.

"Huh? How is this possible?" asked Irene in surprise. Then Idan heard something that amazed not only him, but also Arabel, who was standing nearby and listening to their conversation: "Ethan, I did not send any members of my Guild to the North. So the group you're talking about doesn't belong to my Queens Guild."
