Chapter 97: Chapter 65: Never Let Hatred Last Overnight_2
Liu Yusu sneered, "This is the Star Realm, where might makes right. If you don’t agree, feel free to try your luck in a fight."
Ji Xinghuo fell silent for a few seconds, then threw his backpack onto the ground.
He would remember today’s grudge.
"Brother Hong, go check his backpack," Liu Yusu commanded. Despite Pei Hong’s disagreement with her actions, he still dismounted and walked over to Ji Xinghuo.
"Brother, sorry about this."
Pei Hong opened the backpack and gave it a cursory check without much care; he already knew the Star Tears wouldn’t be inside. Then he circled around Ji Xinghuo, recognizing his bow and war blade as superpower weapons, and his heart skipped a beat.
Any Mutant who could afford such fine weapons, even a Solo Hunter, either had powerful backing or personal strength far surpassing their peers.
This person was definitely not simple!
Pei Hong regretted speaking up earlier.
Now that he had seriously offended the Ranger, there was no chance of salvaging the situation. It was too late to stop... He glanced around and noticed other Hunting Teams stealthily approaching, secretly observing the situation. If he made a move now, he wouldn’t be able to hide it from the others.
"Search his person," Liu Yusu demanded.
But Pei Hong ignored her, and he didn’t even ask Ji Xinghuo to take off his face mask. Instead, he stepped backward toward the Silver Winged Pegasus.
"He doesn’t have the Star Tears, Yusu, don’t go too far," Pei Hong said firmly, "leave some room for maneuver."
Liu Yusu wanted to insist, but then a thought crossed her mind.
She noticed Pei Hong was backing away, a sign of his wariness—in particular of a Ranger skilled in ranged attacks...
If she truly angered him and he suddenly shot an arrow, being this close could be dangerous.
"Understood."
Liu Yusu finally didn’t persist, took a deep look at Ji Xinghuo, patted the horse’s back, and the Silver Winged Pegasus broke through the tree shade and soared into the sky.
Pei Hong nodded to Ji Xinghuo and then left as well.
After the two flew away, the dozen or so War Pets surrounding Ji Xinghuo also quickly retreated, heading back to the lakeside.
Ji Xinghuo silently picked up his backpack and set off. His magnetic field senses detected many Mutants; some were observing in secret, while others seemed to be approaching.
He didn’t want to be entangled with these people and quickened his pace.
A few hundred meters away, the little green snake silently slithered out from beneath the dry leaves and crawled back into the pocket on Ji Xinghuo’s waist.
"Good job!"
Ji Xinghuo softly patted the pocket. If it weren’t for the little green snake, he wouldn’t have been able to avoid the trouble.
He roughly guessed why he was targeted—the Etheric Fluctuations of the Star Tears were too intense. If someone else had also merged with Ether Sensitivity, they would likely sense its presence.
Among the two Super Mutants from the Myriad Beast Garden, one must have mastered Ether Sensitivity.
As expected, it should be Pei Hong.
While moving quickly, Ji Xinghuo looked back at the sky. The Dragon Falcons were still intermittently watching him; clearly, the female Master hadn’t given up completely.
"Hmph..."
"A gentleman’s revenge is not too late even if it takes ten years."
Ji Xinghuo’s eyes shone with a cold light. Though there was a saying, "A gentleman’s revenge is not too late if it is sought even after ten years," he couldn’t wait that long. A gentleman’s vengeance starts from dawn and ends at dusk.
He glanced at his watch.
Ten hours until Star Night, twenty-six hours until dark night.
Ji Xinghuo quickened his steps. He left the area of the meteor fall by the afternoon and found a secluded spot dozens of kilometers away to set up camp, fed the little green snake, and then went to sleep inside the tent. When he awoke, Star Night had already arrived, and the mental fatigue from two days of searching had completely recovered.
He stepped out of the tent and looked up at the sky. Under Star Night, all was tranquil.
Ji Xinghuo ate the leftover grilled fish from lunch, packed up the tent and backpack, called out the little green snake, and asked, "Can you swallow all this stuff?"
The little green snake nodded its head.
It crawled onto the backpack and opened its mouth; the next instant, the massive backpack weighing over eighty kilograms vanished.
Ji Xinghuo suddenly felt much lighter.
Now, he only carried the Dragon Falcon Eagle Bow, the Thunderbolt Battle Blade, and a tactical knife, with only a hundred arrows left in his Magnetic Arrow Bag on his back, completely ready for a light travel.
The ability to store items alone made the little green snake an invaluable treasure.
If not for considering that it was a Spiritual Object with endless potential and that there were other ways to share its superpower abilities upon returning to Olympia, Ji Xinghuo almost couldn’t help but kill it right away to harvest its Alien Species.
Taking advantage of the faint light of Star Night, Ji Xinghuo swiftly maneuvered through the dense forest valleys.
Several hours later.
He came back to the area where the meteor had fallen, only to find even more Hunting Teams had arrived, with several groups detected through magnetic field sensing.
Ji Xinghuo also began his search.
But what he was looking for was not the Star Tears, it was the Myriad Beast Garden’s Hunting Group.
Finding Star Tears was difficult, but locating a large group of people and War Pets was easy. In less than two hours, Ji Xinghuo spotted several hawks circling in the night sky far away. In the Star Night, their vision had decreased, and he entered Stealth State to approach them.
The Mutants of Myriad Beast Garden were still searching for the Star Tears.
Their search efficiency was much higher than other teams, with dozens of War Pets spreading out, combing through the area inch by inch—on the ground, up the trees, in the valleys, leaving no stone unturned.
Ji Xinghuo lay in wait from afar with great patience.
Until the dark night.
Under the utterly dark conditions, the Myriad Beast Garden’s Hunting Group could only rest. They found a clearing to set up camp, pitched a few tents, and dozens of War Pets encircled the campsite, with eagles and blood crows standing on the surrounding trees, forming a tight defensive layer.
The darkness did not hinder Ji Xinghuo’s eyes.
He circled the Myriad Beast Garden campsite from a distance several times, eventually finding a cliff approximately 450 meters from the campsite, about a hundred meters high, overlooking the entire site.
This distance was supposed to be safe.
However, in Ji Xinghuo’s eyes, it was the perfect shooting position.
He stood on the cliff, facing the campsite, pulled out three Capacitor Arrows, nocked one, and held the other two in the palm of his hand, then drew the bowstring of the Dragon Falcon Eagle Bow.
The effective lethal range of the Dragon Falcon Eagle Bow was 300 meters, but in fact, its range was much further than that. If shot at an elevated angle, the maximum distance could be nearly 1000 meters. The reason for specifying the effective lethal range is that usually, beyond 300 meters, the lethality of the arrows would drastically decrease.
Special Arrows could extend the lethal distance, provided of course, that they could hit accurately.
This was not a problem for Ji Xinghuo at all.
The Rotating Magnetic Field was activated.
Streams of electricity appeared on the skin, converging along the arm onto the Capacitor Arrow, not only the one that was already nocked but also the two in the palm were activated.
The arrows lit up with strands of electric light, but due to the Stealth Ring’s concealment, none leaked outward.
Light rings were flashing in Ji Xinghuo’s right eye.
Myriad Phenomena!
In front of him appeared countless illusory shadows, with lines interweaving into the future. In an instant, he saw various outcomes in his mind and then fixed on one.
Ji Xinghuo raised the angle of the Dragon Falcon Eagle Bow, shooting the first Capacitor Arrow into the sky.
A flash of lightning cut through the night sky.
While the arrow was still in flight, he quickly nocked the second Capacitor Arrow, similarly amplified to near overload by the Rotating Magnetic Field, and let fly the bowstring.
Then came the third one.
These three arrows took him less than two seconds in total; the first arrow hadn’t even reached its target yet.
The three flashes of lightning, following almost identical trajectories, shot from the cliff over 450 meters away into the sky, resembling three shooting stars against the night canvas, consecutively falling into the Myriad Beast Garden’s Hunting Group campsite.
After releasing the three arrows, Ji Xinghuo didn’t look at the results but turned and ran.
