Chapter 636 - 636: Nox Is Back!
BOOOOOOM!!!
The already fractured stone exploded outward as his fist connected, debris flying in every direction as a massive section of the academy wall collapsed, attracting the attention of all the demons present inside the academy.
From the other side, a large force of demons—already alerted by the earlier chaos—charged at him.
"THERE HE IS!!"
"THE HUMAN!! KILL HIM!!!"
Hundreds of them.
But Nox didn't slow down.
"I'm already late," he muttered, lifting Glacier's End. "Get out of my way."
His body blurred.
What followed next was carnage.
He weaved through their formation, slicing and tearing through demonic flesh like paper. Every swing left trails of frost, stone, or searing fire. He didn't even need to stop moving—every movement, every cut, was precise and deadly.
In seconds, over thirty demons were already on the ground, writhing or dead.
Meanwhile—
Inside the Academy – West Wing
Theo, Jack, and Nyx stood with their backs to the destroyed kitchen, weapons raised. Dozens of demons surrounded them from both ends of the corridor.
They were tired after fighting dozens of demons.
Jack wiped a streak of blood from his face and muttered, "We can't hold out much longer."
"I know," Theo grunted, slashing through another demon who lunged at him. "But we can't let them past us."
"Nyx!" Jack called out. "Any big attack?"
She shook her head, sweat glistening on her forehead. "Only one. But it'll leave me vulnerable."
"Use it," Theo growled. "We'll cover you!"
Nyx didn't argue.
She stepped forward, channeling her holy energy into her sword, and slashed forward.
"[Radiant Judgement]!"
Golden light exploded from her palm, forming a massive circular rune in the air.
A heartbeat later—
KABOOOOOM!!!
Holy light surged outward like a tidal wave, disintegrating everything it touched. Demons howled as their bodies were consumed by righteous fire.
The entire hallway was bathed in golden brilliance.
When it faded, over sixty demons had been turned to ash.
But Nyx fell to one knee, panting heavily.
Jack caught her before she collapsed.
"We have to move," Theo said quickly. "There's more coming. I can hear them—"
SHHHHRRRRRAAAAA!!!
The hallway wall to their right suddenly burst open.
Ice and purple flame surged through, freezing and scorching the horde of demons waiting to ambush them.
Drake and Valkor stormed in from the opening, both coated in demon blood.
"Looks like we made it in time," Drake smirked.
Theo raised his sword, eyes narrowing. "Who are you two?"
Before either newcomer could respond, another group of demons burst through the far door—this time winged and armored, stronger than the fodder they'd fought so far.
The hallway shook as they charged.
But Valkor didn't flinch.
He stepped forward, raised his hand, and a burst of purple flame exploded out, turning several demons to ash.
Drake shot forward as well, a flash of frost trailing behind him. "Stay down."
CLANG! SHING! SHINK!
Three slashes, three kills. His icy blade carved effortlessly through demon armor, and in mere seconds, the wave was gone.
"W-What…?" Theo slowly lowered his sword, stunned, unable to believe that the two new individuals had easily dealt with the demons that had given them so much trouble.
Nyx's eyes widened as she whispered, "They're… strong."
Jack, still supporting Nyx, furrowed his brows. When he saw the two individuals approach him, he couldn't help but ask, "Are you on our side? Did someone finally decide to help us?"
Drake's ice sword dissolved into frost fragments as he nodded. "Master Nox sent us."
The trio stiffened.
It was as if the entire hallway fell still.
Theo blinked, his grip on his sword loosening slightly. "Wait… What did you just say?"
Nyx's breath hitched. "Nox?"
Jack's expression froze. He slowly stepped in front of Nyx, eyes narrowed. "Say that again. Carefully."
That name—it was a name they had not heard for some months now. Though it had only been two months due to the invasions and their lives constantly being in danger, it had felt as if a year had passed.
Valkor crossed his arms and spoke clearly. "Master Nox sent us to find any survivors. And from your resemblance, I take it you're somehow related to him."
"Yes."
It was Nyx who spoke next, her voice quiet—almost disbelieving. "That reckless bastard is my twin brother."
"So he's still alive?"
A small smile appeared on Jack's face. "I knew it!"
The cold confidence on Drake's face didn't waver. "Not just alive. He's grown stronger. Much stronger."
At that moment, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside.
"We have to move! The tunnels are the only safe place they don't know about!"
"Alright, take us there."
Drake and Valkor nodded, and under the guidance of the trio, the Frost and Inferno Dragons followed the humans as they took several detours to avoid the demons rushing outside with urgency.
When the troop of demons passed, the group of five sneaked into the secret passage, arriving at the open chambers where Bridget and the rest of the students were.
As soon as they heard the sound of footsteps, the students and Bridget became alert, activating their skills. It was only when they saw the familiar faces that they calmed down.
"How did it go—" Bridget trailed off when she saw the two other individuals behind her students.
"You two… you're not my students. Are you survivors?"
"No, they're not," Nyx replied. "They were sent by Nox."
"Nox…" Bridget mumbled in shock.
"Yes, he's back." Nyx smiled softly. "And from what the two said, he seems to have grown pretty powerful as well."
"Pretty powerful?" Valkor chuckled loudly. "Master Nox is invincible! You need to see how he destroyed the demonic army without even breaking a sweat."
Bridget furrowed her brows. She wanted to be skeptical, but a part of her told her these two were telling the truth.
At the same time, Nox began to make his way through the academy. He didn't bother hiding. He cut down demons without a moment of hesitation.
The ones stationed at the entrance barely had time to scream.
SHUNK! SHINK!
Two heads flew.
Another fell mid-run, frozen—his body turned to ice before he could even swing.
Nox exhaled slowly and continued walking, following the presence of his two pets.
Meanwhile, at a temple atop a hill behind the royal castle, a white-haired boy smiled as he rose from his kneeling position.
"That aura… it's definitely him. So he finally returns."
The cruel smile on his face widened.
"I guess the time for me to take my revenge has finally arrived."
