Chapter 1122: Chapter 175: Husky Sobbing (Two-in-One)

Husky invented the Wizard’s Autoplay Chess, the rules of which are actually quite simple.

Annan managed to win by a large margin in his third game against Husky—

On Annan’s side, the pieces were gold-tier Maria and Annan, along with three other distinct bronze-tier Cripple Wizards.

While Husky’s side of the board laid out seven or eight silver-tier Wizard Legions.

As the battle commenced, mini-Maria immediately whipped up a storm—a hurricane so real that it could even swirl Annan’s hair. It blew those wizards all over the place, making casting spells extremely difficult.

And mini-Annan suddenly transformed into a palm-sized pure white dragon... A breath of frost sent most of the silver-tier wizards packing.

"Damn, is this what it feels like to be smart..."

Husky, with a look of reluctance, said: "Why, while being smart, is luck still so good...Maria and Annan are clearly the rarest pieces..."

Annan felt somewhat subtle.

Honestly, he didn’t think this game had much to do with intelligence...

And actually, after Husky advanced to silver, it was impossible to still be "not smart enough."

The so-called Silver Body, as described in "Odes to the Celestial Chariot," meant "consumed the blood of Elves from the Fountain of Immortality, souls purified." If comparing memory and logical thinking ability, Husky could directly partake in the strongest brains without any issue.

Her intelligence was completely fine; it was just that Husky subconsciously chose not to use it...

"I think your game still has quite a bit of room for improvement."

Annan coughed lightly, suggesting a few points: "The concept itself is fine... but isn’t this game a bit too simple?

"You mentioned this ’faction bond’—I’ve already felt its effects, like how every two, four, six Cripple Wizards increase the power and control success rate of the Spell of Disabling...but why is there no ’bloodline bond’ between me and Maria?

"And couldn’t you also use nations to form some sort of attribute? Like three from Noah, three from Winter, and so on... if it’s just composed of pure factions, it’s actually hard to attract those wizards to buy it."

"I’ve actually considered this issue too..."

Husky’s eyes immediately lit up, scooting closer to Annan.

She took out those chess pieces and laid them on the table.

—These were not physical models, but some sort of illusionary projection. Like a bootleg Amiibo, placed on the board to summon the projection.

Every chess piece was about the size of a Pokémon ball. Each had a circular portrait on it, and directly below it were listed the spell school, identity, name, effects.

Bronze-tier was just completely identical pieces, stacking one to three layers, while silver-tier was four to six layers stacked together, gold-tier was over seven layers...

These chess pieces could be merged or split at any time. When they are placed on their side of the board, by the start of the next turn, they would become actualized.

And when they battled, these round chess pieces wouldn’t move. If any chess piece was defeated, it would flip over by itself, back side up. By the next turn, the opposite side could continue to flip the card back, adjusting positions or splitting and merging.

By the battle phase, when one side’s pieces were all flipped over, they could gain a score equivalent to the number of the opponent’s "back-side-up cards"... which means [winner takes all].

This score wasn’t deducted from the other side but directly gained. However, completely avoiding combat by not placing any pieces to prevent the opponent’s score rising was also not feasible.

To simulate the environment of "Back against the Wizard’s Tower, no way out," a player could only have at most seven idle Wizard chess pieces—aoplayer could only have at most seven idle Wizard chess pieces—all others had to be played. But scores could be accumulated.

At the end of each round during the waiting phase, everyone could draw five cards, and extra cards could be drawn using points. The first additional card of the round counts as one point, the second as two, the third as four... thus, although points can be stored, they can’t be completely saved.

At the same time, excess cards could also be discarded. By throwing hand cards into the discard pool during the preparation phase, one could get a symbolic score at a "one card, one point, fair price" recycling price.

But rather than using this method to score points, "getting rid of the laggards" was a more important goal.

After five rounds, or if one side reaches fifty points first, the match ends.

These chess pieces themselves, when battling, were driven by AI, casting spells automatically. However, they weren’t completely autoplay chess...because they could still be "manually controlled" to some extent.

A player could send a special effect written on a card by popping it from a stacked mini-wizard into the discard pile during a battle—this is akin to permanently removing a card, or a chess piece.

Mini-Annan’s dragon transformation was this effect.

Husky’s idea was to use this method to simulate a wizard’s "trump card" or non-generic abilities like "Twisted Spell."

You could say it’s autoplay chess, but it still somewhat carries an element of excess...

"That’s right, Your Majesty. I had thought of it before, but..."
