Chapter 1004 - 62: Advanced: Gold

Chapter 1004: Chapter 62: Advanced: Gold

"Well," Bernadino’s sigh was barely audible in the air.

"You are right," the last consciousness of a wandering soul in this world dissipated completely as the nightmare realm collapsed.

Having advanced to Gold rank, the processed and easily absorbed curse known as "experience" could no longer strengthen Annan’s career.

What Annan had newly acquired was a resource called "Spirituality," which his parched soul immediately drank dry.

And with his soul as nourishment, Annan’s soul, clear as crystal, seemed to shine even brighter.

Behind Annan’s "Frostspeaker LV30 (can advance)," a brand-new plus sign finally appeared:

As Annan focused his thoughts on that plus sign,

He was greeted by the long-awaited prompt that appeared before his eyes.

"Please select a direction to advance—"

"Frostspeaker LV30 (can advance): Spirit-bearing Monk (Main Attribute: Perception)"

"Keywords: Summoning, Disturbance, Spiritual Body"

"Mastery: Grappling, Duels, Group Fights, Research, Creation, Instant Death, Self-rebirth"

"Advancement Requirements: Perception over 60, Willpower over 40, possession of at least one Soul Snatching School spell; possess a Silver rank Wizard job class (limited to Soul Snatching, Idol, Cripple, Decree); personally killed a Spirit-bearing Monk; experienced conversing with a spiritual body; have at least one prosthetic eye; possess ’Strict’ Elemental Adaptability, and not possess ’Blood’ Elemental Adaptability; do not possess any abilities containing the words ’Fury,’ ’Incitement,’ ’Shouting,’ ’Destruction’; have at least three Ritual Spell slots."

...A Spirit-bearing Monk, huh.

Annan paused for a moment.

Perhaps this is also a kind of legacy...

Annan skipped this option and continued to look down.

"Frostspeaker LV30 (can advance): Radiant Sovereign (Main Attribute: Perception)"

"Keywords: Buff, Group, Disturbance"

"Mastery: Group Fights, Group Enhancements, Group Healing, Group Debilitation, Reviving Others"

"Advancement Requirements: Perception over 60, Willpower over 50, do not possess any Destructive School spells; possess a Silver rank Wizard job class (limited to Idol, Prophet, Cripple, Decree); possess at least three different buff abilities; possess revival ability and have resurrected at least seven people; possess ’Radiance,’ ’Victory,’ ’Glory’ Elemental Adaptabilities; and not possess ’Soul,’ ’Shadow,’ ’Darkness,’ ’Blood,’ ’Vengeance,’ ’Poison,’ ’Conspiracy’ Elemental Adaptabilities; possess a Ritual-grade Divine Ability; have at least seven spell slots of any type."

"Frostspeaker LV30 (can advance): Black Radiance Eye (Main Attribute: Perception)"

"Keywords: Control, Disturbance, Reconnaissance"

"Mastery: Grappling, Duels, Wide-Area Reconnaissance, Wide-Area Mind Control, Group Debilitation, Group Mind Control, Ideological Resurrection"

"Advancement Requirements: Perception over 70, Willpower lower than Perception, possession of at least one Soul Snatching School spell, do not possess any Transmutation School spells, do not possess any Shaping School spells; possess a Silver rank Wizard job class (limited to Soul Snatching, Idol, Prophet, Cripple); possess at least three different debuff abilities; have lost memory before; have planned and successfully executed a conspiracy involving deities; have at least one curse binding rune; be the target of any Idol School spell; possess ’Wisdom,’ ’Understanding’ Elemental Adaptabilities; and not possess ’Flame,’ ’Blood,’ ’Creation,’ ’Innovation’ Elemental Adaptabilities; have at least twelve spell slots."

Annan hadn’t expected it.

That he would meet the requirements for three advanced job classes just as he had broken through to the Gold rank.

Although he had not yet advanced in the Victorious Knight job, it was fortunate that the Victorious Knight was already considered half a Gold rank job, so this did not matter much.

But for a Frostspeaker to be able to advance at this point... and to choose from three completely different paths that had nothing to do with the Disabling School was something Annan had not anticipated at all.

Furthermore, Annan had received some valuable intelligence – did some wizards really need a large number of spell slots to advance to Gold rank?

When Annan’s Frostspeaker profession advanced to level 30, his "Instant Spells," "Guided Spells," and "Chanting Spells" all reached LV6, while his "Ritual Spells" were at LV4. This meant Annan could configure a total of 22 spells.

The reason for this ratio was because the Frostspeaker profession emphasized "Chanting Spells" and almost did not use "Ritual Spells," so among the high-ranking spells of Chanting and Ritual, the former had six slots while the latter only had four.

If we consider a more extreme profession – for instance, Salvatore.

He is also an Alchemist who had reached the pinnacle of the Silver rank; his "Instant Spells" are only at LV4 and his "Ritual Spells" are at a pitiful LV1, but both his "Guided Spells" and "Chanting Spells" are as high as LV10.

This means Salvatore had twenty-five spell slots, slightly more than a Frostspeaker, but with a severe focus in certain areas.

...But being specialized or not doesn’t really matter anymore.

Out of Annan’s 22 spell slots, he had only configured eight spells... leaving him with a full fourteen spell slots empty.

After all, in this world, spell slots couldn’t be "re-specced."

So Annan was quite hesitant.

Unless it was a spell he urgently needed, or one that he obtained directly, he hardly added any spells.

This could probably also be considered a kind of decision-making difficulty.

He had originally planned to consult Isaac’s opinion and add some spells after the nightmare ended. However, the requirements for these Gold-tier professions startled him.

Did all these professions actually need empty spell slots?

...No wonder so many hereditary professions required a special "recipe."

Take for example the Black Radiance Eye – Annan could tell at a glance that it was an exclusive Gold-tier profession of the Tower of Black Radiance. Or, considering the situation of Heath Tower of Black, one could even say... that the Tower of Black Radiance was named as such because it held the legacy of the Black Radiance Eye.

Just by looking at the prefix and the subsequent professional requirements, one could easily figure it out...

So, there must be professions that required empty spell slots, as there surely were professions that required filled spell slots.

According to the intelligence on Annan’s side, the Jade Record’s Isaac was a well-known versatile wizard. He had mastered a large number of transmutation spells, so it’s estimated that even if he had any empty slots, it definitely wouldn’t exceed three.

However, when it comes to choosing a profession... there’s no question about it.

– Annan could never become a Soul Snatching Wizard who manipulated the minds of others, nor could he inherit the Tower of Black Radiance. It was the same regardless of the power level of these professions.

It’s the same reason he was unwilling to become a spirit-bearing monk.

However, Annan hadn’t expected that at the Bronze rank he was a swordsman using ice magic, at Silver rank he became a dragon capable of spitting ice and light, and at Gold rank he suddenly switched to being a healer...

But this was also reasonable.

Only the strongest had the right to be a support.

Moreover, Annan’s racial template and his highly awakened composite Elemental Power had already provided him with combat capabilities. Gold rank Transcendents were originally meant to emphasize functionality over combat – after all, Elemental Power was really handy.

"Radiant Sovereign... I quite like that name."

Annan murmured, his lips curving slightly upward.

I hope I can truly become the Sovereign of Radiance.

With that thought, he began to carefully review the special abilities of his Gold-tier profession.
