Chapter 552: Chapter 256 Desert Casino City_3 Chapter 552: Chapter 256 Desert Casino City_3 However, the Auxiliary Brain would not give Yan Fei any answers to his questions, leaving him to make guesses. He then began to look around, trying to find what had triggered the Auxiliary Brain to send him this alert. This alert was completely different from all previous ones–it did not include any specific images of the Upgrade Essential Items.

The Auxiliary Brain had sent alert messages to Yan Fei a few times before, always triggered when Yan Fei's eyes spotted an item, and it would then display that Upgrade Essential Item in front of Yan Fei, letting him know exactly what the item was.

Therefore, Yan Fei still believed that it must have been him seeing something that prompted the Auxiliary Brain's alert. Because there were no Energy Points for the Drone, that item had not appeared in the Auxiliary Brain's database. Without seeing an actual image of the item, Yan Fei had no idea which item was essential for the Drone Upgrade. So, he reviewed every item within his field of vision, yet the Auxiliary Brain issued no more alerts.

In desperation, Yan Fei decided to collect all the items he saw into the Universal Space, to ensure that none slipped through. These items were all natural rocks and stones formed by nature and none resembled the previous Upgrade Essential Items. Even after taking these items into the Universal Space, the Auxiliary Brain did not give any hints, leaving Yan Fei clueless as to whether he had found any real Upgrade Essential Items.

Such a delay meant that the US Forces were rapidly closing in on Yan Fei's position. Upon detecting the army's rapid approach, Yan Fei had no choice but to give up searching and leave the area. However, he had recorded the terrain so he could return later, after evading this peril. There were items essential for the Drone Upgrade here, and Yan Fei was not going to give up on them.

The reason Yan Fei decided to leave temporarily was practical–the Auxiliary Brain was shut down and many functions were lost, rendering the method for identifying Upgrade Essential Items completely ineffective. Therefore, he would have to wait until the Drone's Energy Points were restored before he could return to search for the item.

With a plan in mind, Yan Fei gave up on staying there and proceeded to move quickly, yet still couldn't shake off the pursuing US Army. And so, they ran for over an hour.

During that hour-long run, Yan Fei was constantly thinking about how to remove the bloody scent from Yang Qi. Naturally, it would take at least a full day for the scent to fade completely, which would be far too late.

Therefore, Yan Fei thought of other methods to remove the smell, with the most effective being to wash it off with water quickly, which would remove the bloody scent from Yang Qi. Unfortunately, they were on barren and desert land where water was scarce, and Yan Fei had forgotten to store water in the Universal Space. The amount of drinking water he carried to sustain life was minimal and nowhere near enough to wash away the bloody scent from Yang Qi. Without plenty of water, it was impossible to wash off the bloody scent.

Another method was to use other strong scents to confuse the military dogs' noses. However, there was nothing in the Universal Space that could emit such odors, nor were there any plants that could give off pungent smells around. Unable to deceive the dogs' noses, Yan Fei would not be able to evade the military's pursuit in a short time.

The further north Yan Fei went, the shallower he found the underground fissures, and the fewer branches there were. This was an ominous sign; if the underground fissures up ahead had no branches, or if the fissures suddenly became shallower and disappeared, the US Army could instantly locate Yan Fei with drones flying everywhere. That would complicate matters significantly. Therefore, Yan Fei needed to shake off the military pursuit before the worst-case scenario occurred.

Then Yan Fei began to analyze the environment he was in. In the afternoon, he had studied the real-time map in the Auxiliary Brain in detail and was very clear about the terrain nearby. It's just that this map did not indicate an underground fissure, so Yan Fei had no idea how extensive this fissure was or where it led to.

Yan Fei started to calculate his position and discovered he had run northward for over fifty kilometers again. That meant, about thirty kilometers ahead of him was the world-famous Gambling City–Las Vegas. After realizing he was nearing Las Vegas, Yan Fei suddenly concocted a plan.

In the wilderness here, the lack of other smells made it impossible for Yan Fei and Yang Qi to shake off the pursuing US Forces and their tracking dogs. In Las Vegas, however, the situation would change drastically due to the myriad of strong and distracting scents.

The city area of Las Vegas was fraught not only with the pungent smell of car exhaust but also with odors from human sweat glands, a variety of cosmetic fragrances, and even the metallic scent of blood from other people. As long as Yan Fei entered Las Vegas, he would undoubtedly be able to use the myriad of scents to evade the tracking dogs. And with the city's tall buildings, Yan Fei was more confident about avoiding the US Forces' attacks.

Furthermore, Las Vegas covered a large area. In such a vast city, it would be exceedingly difficult for the US Forces to find Yan Fei quickly–harder than reaching heaven, in fact. Even if they managed to locate Yan Fei, it would take at least a day. Also, given the city's closeness to the Hoover Dam, it would be convenient for the drones to provide support once the Drone Data Refresh occurred.

It was this plan that made Yan Fei stop running through the underground fissure. After waiting for the surveillance drones in the zenith to fly away, he immediately leaped onto the surface. Not far behind him, in the sky, the two 10 Attack Planes had already returned to base due to fuel issues, but as time passed, Yan Fei was certain that other attack planes would appear overhead, posing a fire threat to him.

In the distant horizon, only a few Apache Armed Helicopters remained circling in the sky. However, they were still far from Yan Fei's location and from spotting him and Yang Qi. The drones were surveying other directions and had not detected Yan Fei's emergence on the ground.

The area Yan Fei was in was no longer a wilderness, but a small desert. Yet, he could already see the lights in the sky from afar, and he immediately knew that was the Desert Casino City–Las Vegas. Yan Fei pulled out a Motorcycle from the Universal Space and, carrying Yang Qi, roared towards Las Vegas.

Shortly after Yan Fei left, when a tracking dog crossed a branch and ran onto another, the following US Army troops suddenly accelerated and pursued along the underground fissure. Past this junction, there was only one way out. Furthermore, the fissure ahead was about to disappear, so once Yan Fei and Yang Qi's whereabouts were confirmed, the US Army chose to encircle them, intending to entrap them.

However, when the US Army surrounded the fissure and gradually shrunk their encirclement, they found the intended trap empty. The tracking dogs then climbed up to the surface and barked furiously towards the distant Las Vegas.
