Chapter 1004
Chapter 1004: Chapter 403: Information Reappearance_2 Chapter 1004: Chapter 403: Information Reappearance_2 The first reason these bodyguards paid no attention to the spring was their lack of understanding of its data, and second, even if they were aware of this information, they didn't believe anyone could penetrate the two-meter-thick solid rock, let alone infiltrate a hot spring at nearly 100 degrees Celsius, so they never focused their protection efforts beneath the spring.
But what no one knew was that there were anomalies like Yan Fei in this world. What seemed utterly impossible for the average person was remarkably simple for Yan Fei, as long as he tapped into his full strength, he could easily enter the underground hot spring and silently assassinate Yang Liu, the core figure under protection.
On the surface, the Dream Island delegation intended to leave Beijing the next morning and return to Dream Island. Therefore, Yan Fei declined an invitation for a banquet from his collaborators, opting to return to his residence in the Quadrangle Courtyard. At nine o'clock that evening, citing an early rest as his reason, Yan Fei sent away all the security personnel surrounding him, instructing them to keep watch outside the courtyard.
Without a direct summons from Yan Fei himself, the security personnel were strictly forbidden from setting foot inside the courtyard. Moreover, they had an additional task outside: to intercept all individuals attempting to visit Yan Fei, denying entry to anyone without permission to the courtyard where he stayed.
After completing all the preparations, Yan Fei then changed into a high-tech diving suit specially produced for this mission by the mini-production workshop. This suit was ingeniously designed to completely isolate Yan Fei from the outside world, with high-intensity glass completely sealing even the eye area, and no openings around the mouth. Beyond that, the suit also had heat insulation capabilities, ensuring that Yan Fei wouldn't be endangered by the high temperature even when he entered the hot spring.
Equipped within this diving suit was a high-energy battery which, once in the water, would drive the suit's twin engines, propelling Yan Fei swiftly underwater. Additionally, considering the need for extended underwater duration, the suit was also equipped with an oxygen tank, holding enough oxygen to allow Yan Fei to navigate underwater for two hours.
Despite its powerful features, the diving suit wasn't overly bulky, and once Yan Fei put it on, it didn't hinder his movements–quite the opposite, he felt agile and ready for action that night.
Lastly, Yan Fei tasked the Artificial Intelligence “Dream” with the stringent surveillance of the Quadrangle Courtyard situation, to notify him promptly of any unusual disturbance. As he would be deep underground, around 100 meters or so, where electromagnetic signals were virtually nonexistent, “Dream” couldn't guarantee constant contact with Yan Fei, and thus, upon detecting any anomaly, it would send details of the occurrence to a secret mailbox.
This secret mailbox was the Drone Assisted Intelligent Brain's way of receiving information from the outside world; as soon as the Auxiliary Brain received the email, it effectively meant that Yan Fei was informed of its contents. Similarly, Yan Fei could issue new instructions to the Artificial Intelligence “Dream” using this secret mailbox through the Auxiliary Brain.
Unlike the transmission of information through electromagnetic signals, which varied with signal strength, the connection between the drone and Yan Fei himself didn't depend on any signal, as long as they were within a control range of 10,000 kilometers. This meant that even deep underground with no signal, if Yan Fei wished, he could still send messages to “Dream” through control of the Auxiliary Brain and remotely command “Dream” to fulfill his orders.
Properly attired, Yan Fei approached the ancient well situated in the center of the courtyard and jumped in. In Beijing, there were many ancient wells–main sources of drinking water for thousands of years. However, as times evolved and groundwater increasingly polluted, these sources could no longer guarantee water quality, leading people to rely on the more convenient tap water, thus gradually the old wells fell into disuse.
Now, many of Beijing's ancient wells merely exist as tourist attractions, having lost their water drawing functionality. The ancient well in Yan Fei's courtyard was no exception; it was preserved solely for nostalgia's sake.
Yet even so, water still resided in the well within the Quadrangle Courtyard. When Yan Fei, dressed in his diving suit, jumped into the well, he immediately sank to the bottom. Yan Fei had already learned the underground layout through the Quantum Radar, so he had no fear. Turning on the mounted light on top of his diving suit and activating the engines with his battery, he began to dive further down within the well.
The ancient well was pitch-black; Yan Fei dived deeper and deeper, seemingly bottomless. It was only upon reaching fifty meters underground that, with the help of the light, Yan Fei discovered a small opening connecting to an external underground river.
Yan Fei moved closer and began excavating the silt at the small opening with the suit's digging equipment. With Yan Fei's efforts, the narrow passage swiftly expanded, and then he slipped through it into the dark river outside.
The underground river sloped downward, and Yan Fei followed its descent. In the early spring, the water in this dark river was quite cold, but Yan Fei's diving suit had excellent thermal insulation and heating functions, which kept him from losing body heat. Coupled with his own formidable physical resilience and the ability to regulate his body temperature, Yan Fei experienced no discomfort from the chilly river water.
